20: Chapter 20: Li Yi's all-out attack breaks through people's defenses.
Marketing Manager Liu Hua had arranged for waiters long ago. Seeing that Su Ye's group had arrived, he immediately had various fruit platters, snacks, and even cocktail mixing ingredients and ice balls brought over one after another.
After a few drinks, Li Yi felt the atmosphere heating up, so he took Su Anan and Li Qing to the front of the DJ booth to dance. Su Ye wasn't really into the bar scene, so he didn't go, and for some reason, Jiang Bai didn't go either.
Su Ye swirled the glacier glass in his hand. The amber XO enveloped a smooth, round ice ball, and a scent similar to caramel wafted from the rim of the glass, mixing with the bar's fragrance and lively atmosphere, making one feel intoxicated.
Seeing Jiang Bai staring at him from the side, Su Ye asked curiously, "Why aren't you dancing? Don't you think it's a waste of a good time just sitting in the booth at a bar?"
Jiang Bai tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, looked at Su Ye with a beaming smile, and asked in return, "Why aren't you going?"
Su Ye pointed to the figure on the dance floor not far away and said, "I just don't really like the noise. The only reason I came to the bar was to make it up to my Sister-in-law; otherwise, I probably wouldn't have come."
"Sister-in-law?"
Jiang Bai looked at Su Ye curiously. She knew Li Yi, having eaten with him a few times because of Su Anan, but she really didn't know about this "Sister-in-law" nickname.
Since he was bored anyway, Su Ye explained the origin of Li Yi's nickname, "Sister-in-law," to Jiang Bai.
"You guys are so mean. Won't Li Yi get mad at you?"
Jiang Bai laughed until she was trembling, playfully slapping Su Ye's arm.
"Hahaha, he won't. Actually, Li Yi is quite a good guy. Once you get to know him, he's very loyal; he's just a bit impulsive sometimes."
Jiang Bai nodded without offering an opinion. However, in their previous interactions, even though Li Yi always acted impatient and sharp-tongued, his actions showed that he really took good care of Su Anan.
"By the way, why do I feel like you've been looking at me on and off ever since we walked in? I just checked, and my fly isn't open."
"Pfft."
Hearing Su Ye's words, Jiang Bai followed his gaze to his khaki casual pants, then saw Su Ye's bewildered expression and started laughing again. After a while, she slowly said, "Why are you like this? We've only just met, and you're already making dirty jokes."
Su Ye shrank back and raised his hands in protest. "Oh, heavens above! How is that a dirty joke? I didn't say anything! Don't go pinning every blame on me; I'm too old to carry that kind of weight."
Jiang Bai gave Su Ye a coquettish look, took a sip of the pink cocktail in front of her, and said, "It's not that I'm staring at you. I'm just curious. I heard Anan talk about Li Yi's family situation before, and he said you were his best brother, but your outfit is just so—"
Su Ye finished her sentence, "Low?"
Jiang Bai gave Su Ye a charming roll of her eyes that made Su Ye's heart tremble. "I didn't say that. You said it yourself. It's not 'low,' just very ordinary. But your aura makes me feel like you aren't that simple, so I'm just curious."
Su Ye nodded. "I understand. In the end, news of me, the 'Sichuan Province Crouching Dragon,' must have leaked out."
"Hahahaha."
Seeing Su Ye's sorrowful and serious expression, Jiang Bai almost let out a honk like a goose. It took her a while to recover. She pulled out a tissue to wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes and slumped on the sofa, saying, "Oh my, I can't take it anymore. Why are you so funny? My stomach hurts from laughing."
Hearing Jiang Bai's words, Su Ye leaned closer to her and stretched his face forward, close enough to feel Jiang Bai's hot breath. Jiang Bai's long eyelashes fluttered constantly as she nervously looked at Su Ye's angular face; his deep eyes almost made her intoxicated. After several seconds, Jiang Bai asked with a trembling voice, "What—what are you doing?"
A pleasant strawberry scent wafted from Jiang Bai's mouth.
After a few seconds, Su Ye slowly pulled his body back. Jiang Bai couldn't help but let out a long breath in her heart, feeling both relieved and a tiny bit disappointed.
"I was just letting you see what kind of face you're facing. Could a face like mine belong to a 'funny guy'? Don't you know that 'funny guys have no love'? I'm still single; that's a truly vicious curse."
Seeing Su Ye's aggrieved expression, Jiang Bai couldn't help but give him a flirtatious roll of her eyes.
"Just keep pretending. With your looks, physique, and glib tongue, I don't know how many young girls you've tricked."
Su Ye acted shocked, pointing his finger at Jiang Bai while turning his head as if someone were beside him, and shouted, "Did you see that? She's slandering me! She's slandering me!"
"Hahahaha—"
Jiang Bai once again clutched her little belly and bent over, laughing until she was trembling, completely unaware that Su Ye's gaze was currently locked on her exposed, magnificent, fair skin.
Just as Jiang Bai was about to say something, she suddenly saw Su Ye frowning and looking at the stage. Following Su Ye's gaze, she saw Li Yi shielding Su Anan and Li Qing behind him, arguing with a few figures opposite them.
"Something's happened. You wait here for me; I'm going to go check it out."
Su Ye stood up and walked over quickly. Of course, Jiang Bai couldn't possibly sit peacefully in the booth at this time, so she quickly clutched her bags to her chest and followed him.
As Su Ye got a bit closer, he saw four young men around twenty years old standing opposite Li Yi. The leader had permed yellow hair and was quite tall, probably nearly 1.9 meters. At this moment, his eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Li Yi.
Walking a few more steps forward, Su Ye heard Li Yi's somewhat sharp voice: "Yo, I really don't know where these toads crawled out from. You drank a few gulps of horse piss and completely forgot who you are. Especially you, that yellow-haired punk, you're built like a sugarcane, all segmented and everything. What, are you going to perform at a circus? You all want to eat swan meat? I suggest you go pick up some husks when someone is threshing grain, then go home and have your mom sew you a pillow out of her big red panties. That way you can feel the scent of your hometown while you sleep, and at night you can spread your ass cheeks and dream…"
Li Yi's frantic output almost caused the other side to have a mental breakdown, and the surrounding area erupted in laughter.
"Pfft!!!"
A light chuckle came from behind Su Ye. Turning his head, he saw it was Jiang Bai. Su Ye frowned slightly. He knew Li Yi's combat ability very well; at his peak, he had actually scolded three market aunties until they cried, sitting on the ground wailing. Now that Li Yi was going full throttle, weren't they going to start fighting in a moment?
Seeing Su Ye's gaze, Jiang Bai stuck out her little pink tongue. "Anan and Qingqing are also my good friends; I can't just hide in the back, can I?"
"Whoa!"
Just as Su Ye was about to say something, the crowd became rowdy, and Su Ye quickly led Jiang Bai as they squeezed their way inside.
