151: Chapter 151 They finally found us?
A plane slowly landed at Chengdu Airport. A middle-aged man around fifty, exuding an elegant temperament, wearing a white shirt and black trousers, topped with a black leather jacket, slowly walked out of the airport dragging a black suitcase in his right hand.
It was a rare sunny day in Chengdu. The scorching sun baked the ground, evaporating the puddles left by last night's heavy rain, leaving only muggy water vapor permeating the air. This made Su Yi, who was accustomed to the dry weather of Beijing, feel a bit uncomfortable.
He casually hailed a taxi. After opening the trunk and putting his luggage inside, Su Yi habitually sat in the back seat and said:
"Driver, the last four digits are 9527. Please take me to the Holiday Inn Express in Gaoxin District."
The driver glanced at Su Yi through the rearview mirror and couldn't help but slowly straighten his posture. At a glance, this attire screamed "Civil Servant." Judging by his age and aura, his position probably wasn't low; at the very least, he had to be a division-level official. Although he didn't know why this official wasn't being picked up and had to take a taxi instead, he would have something to brag about later.
The driver said with a full face of smiles:
"Alright, please sit tight."
After speaking, he slowly drove the car away from the parking space several beats slower than usual, heading toward the High-Tech Zone. A driver in front of him watched the taxi pull away steadily and scratched his greasy hair in confusion.
"Hey, did that rascal Zhang Laosan change his ways? Are pigs flying now? Has the road bandit of Chengdu switched to official business use?"
As he spoke, he turned on the walkie-talkie hanging on him and shouted:
"Hey, hey, hey, can everyone hear me? Come look at Zhang Sanwa. That bastard has changed his ways. I don't know if he's carrying some head of state, but the car is driving so damn steadily. The road bandit of Chengdu has switched to official business use, hey!"
The channel on the walkie-talkie was quiet for two or three seconds before it erupted in noise.
"Wow, for real? Usually, it takes three minutes, I bet he's going to take three hours now."
"It's moving inch by inch like a damn inchworm."
"Zhang Laosan, Zhang Laosan, who are you carrying? Are you turning over a new leaf?"
At this moment, the walkie-talkie in the taxi kept ringing. Zhang Laosan felt beads of sweat the size of soybeans popping out from his forehead. He wished he could grab Li Erwa out of the walkie-talkie right now, immediately, and beat him up.
He glanced at the smiling Su Yi in the rearview mirror, then looked straight ahead. His trembling right hand reached for the walkie-talkie to turn it off, but he accidentally hit the knob:
"Channel one."
Zhang Laosan hurriedly tried to fix it:
"Channel two, chan, chan, chan—"
Su Yi, in the back, felt his smile was about to break, so he simply laughed and said:
"Driver, why don't we pull over and adjust it?"
Zhang Laosan hurriedly pulled the car over to the side of the road, then scrambled to take off the walkie-talkie and turned it off.
Afterward, he turned his head back and revealed a smile that was uglier than crying:
"Lea—Leader, th—they are joking. I, Zhang Laosan, am usually the most law-abiding person. Please don't listen to their bull—nonsense."
Su Yi nodded and laughed:
"Mhm, mhm, mhm, I know, driver. Please just drive me to the hotel first. It's fine."
Zhang Laosan breathed a long sigh of relief only after confirming multiple times that Su Yi wouldn't report him to his superiors, and then slowly drove toward the High-Tech Zone.
Su Yi looked at the scenery outside the car window, the familiar local accent from the walkie-talkie echoing in his mind, feeling both strange and familiar.

At night, Su Yi looked at the investigation report on his phone and breathed a long sigh of relief. Fortunately, it wasn't what he and his wife had thought; Su Ye was just purely lucky. Who could have imagined that his own great-uncle, Su Ye's great-ancestor, had actually not died? And he had built a huge family business overseas. Before passing away this year, he established a family foundation and, according to his will, left it for Su Ye, the only male among the younger generation, to inherit.
Looking at the time, it was already ten o'clock at night. Su Yi turned and walked toward the bathroom. He had to get up early tomorrow morning. According to Su Ye's recent daily routine, he should be jogging in the residential complex tomorrow morning. For some reason, Su Yi actually felt a little nervous.
Logically speaking, the feeling of nervousness should have disappeared from his emotions twenty years ago. Later on, it was only others who felt nervous when they saw him.
Su Yi fell asleep this time with a mix of anticipation and fear. He was looking forward to seeing a relative he hadn't seen in decades—his favorite little nephew—but he was also afraid that the little nephew wouldn't recognize him. After all, he had brought great trouble and trauma to the family back then.
This wasn't something that could be made up for with just an apology or by saying he had amnesia.
At exactly six o'clock in the morning, Su Ye automatically woke up. Thanks to Zhang Jing's versatile and efficient work, Su Ye's recent schedule had been very disciplined: sleeping before twelve at night and waking up before six in the morning. After getting up, washing, and tidying up, he would make some breakfast. By seven, he would go out for a run until eight, return home to rest for an hour, and then, once the fitness club opened, he would work out until twelve, eat a nutritious lunch, and then return home.
To be honest, Su Ye was a bit addicted to this healthy and leisurely lifestyle. After all, with the system not yet awakened, he had nothing to do; every day was just eating and playing. He had money and time.
Usually, at seven o'clock, there weren't many people in the entire residential complex. After all, those who could get up that early to run were always in the minority. And don't forget that the place Su Ye lived in was a high-end residential complex; those who could live here had to be at least workplace elites, otherwise, they wouldn't be able to afford the rent of several thousand yuan per month.
"Thud, thud, thud-thud."
Su Ye maintained rhythmic breathing and jogged on the complex's scenic running track at a pace of about 6, feeling his heart rate and physical state slowly activating, a full sense of power awakening within his body.
Suddenly, a slightly heavy panting sound rang in Su Ye's ears. Su Ye didn't pay it any mind, instead continuing to maintain his pace. After all, although there were very few people jogging in the complex in the morning, it didn't mean there were none.
However, as time ticked by, ten minutes passed, and that breathing sound still lingered in his ears, becoming heavier and heavier. After a few minutes, it turned directly into the sound of a broken bellows. Su Ye was a bit worried that the owner of this sound might just stop breathing and kick the bucket, so he simply slowed his pace.
Su Ye slowly stopped and turned his head to look behind him. He saw a middle-aged man with graying hair, wearing shorts, a short-sleeved shirt, and sneakers, standing in place with his hands resting on his knees. Beads of sweat the size of soybeans flowed down his cheeks and dripped onto the running track, splashing up little droplets of water. His upturned face looked somewhat similar to his father, Su Hong.
Su Ye was stunned for a moment, thinking:
"Isn't this my Fourth Uncle Su Ping? Oh, right, is he called Su Yi now? Finally found me?"
