16: Chapter 16 Li Yi and his sister-in-law

"The price is negotiable. Little Su, you've probably been eyeing this car for a while, so you should know there aren't really any discounts nationwide."

Su Ye nodded upon hearing this. That was true; based on the information he had gathered online, this car basically didn't have any room for negotiation, with a maximum discount of three to five thousand just as a gesture.

"Director Xiang, we can be considered insiders now, and you and my brother get along so well. I won't say anything more; you name a price, and I absolutely won't haggle."

Su Ye's words made both Xiang Tian and Cao Ye feel like they had plenty of face.

After thinking for a moment, Xiang Tian said:

"How about this, Little Su? I won't ask if you're paying by mortgage or in full. A ten-thousand discount, plus I'll gift you a set of high-end car tints. You know from the automotive forums that the cost of our group's high-end tints is over ten thousand. Plus, I'll personally throw in a set of accessories. I've already checked this price with Little Boss earlier; there's absolutely no room left."

The reason Xiang Tian was bleeding money like this was partly due to his relationship with Cao Ye, and partly because this car was indeed hard to sell. Although it had a lot of hype, the price of over 2.1 million on the road meant not many people were actually buying it.

After doing some mental calculations, Su Ye said:

"OK, let's do it. Calculate the total."

Xiang Tian was overjoyed. It looked like he would be the first dealer in the country to sell an AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ in the third quarter. This time, he would really be able to make a name for himself with the manufacturer.

"Great, great, come sit over here."

As he spoke, Xiang Tian led Su Ye and Cao Ye aside to chat. A few minutes later, the internal trainer, Wang Wei, had calculated the price. Adding all the fees together, it came to 2.19 million. Su Ye handed his bank card directly to Wang Wei.

"Swipe the card, full payment."

Wang Wei was stunned for a moment but immediately led Su Ye toward the finance office.

Xiang Tian remembered the instructions Little Boss had given earlier: if Su Ye paid in full, he was to gift him a license plate. So, he quickly said:

"Little Su, wait a second. Little Boss gave instructions that since you are a friend of Director Cao and were once 'one of us,' he specifically wants to gift you a license plate. I forgot to mention it just now—this license plate is quite good: Chuan A·A1188."

Su Ye looked at Cao Ye beside him. To be honest, this license plate was quite good. If he found the right buyer outside, selling it for a few tens of thousands wouldn't be a problem. However, Su Ye felt more like this was something Little Boss was giving to Cao Ye.

After thinking for a moment, Cao Ye nodded at Su Ye. Su Ye raised an eyebrow; was his brother Cao planning to throw himself into the embrace of Little Boss?

"Alright, please give my regards to Little Boss for me, Director Xiang."

"Hahaha, no problem, no problem."

Two hours later, Cao Ye took Su Ye and Xiang Tian to a private kitchen restaurant near the company for lunch. The car had also been processed; everything went through the group's green channel, which was very convenient.

"Well, Director Xiang, brother, I'll be heading off now? I still have some things to do."

Director Xiang waved with a smile:

"No worries, come over and hang out often, have a cup of tea."

Cao Ye said:

"Remember, this Saturday. I've already called your Sister-in-law to tell her; if you don't show up then, I'll go to your house and drag you here myself."

Su Ye waved his hand:

"Got it!"

Then, with a step on the gas, the V8 engine let out a beast-like roar, and within seconds, it disappeared from before their eyes.

...

An hour later, at the entrance of the Shenshu Courtyard residential compound, a tourmaline red Mercedes-Benz was parked in a temporary space. Su Ye had been thinking about how to approach Yan Zheng. Going in directly to ask around was definitely out of the question; after all, Yan Zheng had probably lived there for many years. One must never underestimate the intelligence-gathering capabilities of the elderly; if he dared to ask around, Yan Zheng's family would know by that very day.

A strange man suddenly asking about the situation at the Public Security Bureau Chief's home? What kind of concept was that? Within three hours, Su Ye would be investigated thoroughly.

Su Ye waited there until 8:30 PM before finally seeing Yan Zheng walk out of the compound gate, carrying a seven or eight-year-old girl, with a gentle-looking middle-aged woman following beside him. They must be Yan Zheng's daughter and wife.

Su Ye watched them until they disappeared into the crowd.

"Hiding in the mountains watching fireworks, guarding that mud pit..."

A ringtone pulled Su Ye's thoughts back. Seeing the contact displayed on his phone, Su Ye was first surprised, then a smile curled at the corners of his mouth.

Answering the phone:

"Hello, Sister-in-law, you finally decided to pull my number out of your blacklist!"

Sister-in-law, whose full name was Li Yi, was Su Ye's college classmate and a local native of Chengdu. His family owned a chain of branded clothing stores, with four shops and five chain stores throughout Chengdu. He could be considered a proper second-generation rich kid; even if not worth hundreds of millions, he definitely had tens of millions in assets. The reason he initially came to the college Su Ye attended was, firstly, because he was acting out of spite against his family, and secondly, because his grades were just so-so.

Among the six people in their dormitory back then, Li Yi had the best relationship with Su Ye. Because, although this person was loyal, he was blunt, had a bit of a sharp tongue, and was a bit pretentious and effeminate, so the others didn't have a great relationship with him.

The reason he was called Sister-in-law, besides him being a bit effeminate, was also because he had three older sisters at home who were all very good-looking with tall figures, so quite a few people wanted to be his brother-in-law.

A slightly high-pitched voice sounded from the other end of the line:

"Yo, you still remember me? I thought someone had forgotten all about me. The reason I pulled someone out of the blacklist was just to watch someone's joke. Think back to how I tried to advise you, huh? You were like you were possessed by a ghost and wouldn't listen. How about it now? You've lost both the person and the money, so funny."

Su Ye gave a wry smile. Just as Li Yi said, not long after he first got together with Han Qiyue, Li Yi knew about it and had even specifically come over to meet Han Qiyue. He said that women understand women best; although Li Yi wasn't a woman, in some aspects, he was even better than one.

He saw at a glance that Han Qiyue was not a good woman, so he kept mocking her. Later, he also kept pestering Su Ye about it. This continued for a few months, and one time, Su Ye was so impatient that he shouted at Li Yi a few times, and subsequently, he ended up in the blacklist.

Su Ye guessed that Li Yi must have heard from somewhere today that he had broken up, which is why he pulled him out of the blacklist.

"I was wrong, I was wrong, Sister-in-law. Back then, I was truly blinded by pig lard. Sigh."

Thinking about the series of absurd things he had done for Han Qiyue back then, Su Ye couldn't help but let out a long sigh.

"Hmph!"

After acting haughty for a moment, Li Yi said:

"And you came to Chengdu without even knowing to look for me? What, are we really not brothers anymore?"

Su Ye gave a sheepish laugh. Back then, he had fallen out with Li Yi because of Han Qiyue, and later, he had been played by Han Qiyue to such an extent; how could he have the face to look for Li Yi?

"Fine, the old place. I'll give you one hour."

Hearing the busy signal on the phone, Su Ye quickly started the car. The old place Li Yi mentioned was not close; even if it wasn't rush hour, it would probably take forty to fifty minutes to drive there. If he was late again, he didn't know what Li Yi would have to say about him today.
