69: Chapter 69 Half Hell, Half Heaven
Liu Xueer watched Jiang Bai, who kept looking back every few steps, and helplessly held her forehead: "Hey, Xiao Bai, you can't even see Su Ye's shadow anymore, what are you still looking at? Why don't you just go back and find him? I'll sleep alone tonight, and you two can share a bed."
Hearing Liu Xueer's teasing words, Jiang Bai's ears turned bright red. She reached out her right hand and pinched Liu Xueer's waist.
"Don't talk nonsense."
Liu Xueer rubbed the soft flesh on her waist and muttered: "Still saying I'm talking nonsense? Your eyeballs are practically welded onto Su Ye."
Jiang Bai was even angrier and reached out to cover Liu Xueer's mouth, but Liu Xueer ducked her head, dodged, ran forward two steps, turned around, and said: "Did I say anything wrong? If I weren't here, someone would probably already be in bed."
Jiang Bai was so embarrassed she stomped her feet frantically: "Liu Xueer!!!"
"Bleh, bleh, bleh, I'll say it, I'll say it."
Su Ye paused, listening to the fading sounds of horseplay in the distance. He shook his head with a smile and turned to walk towards the elevator. Good things are worth waiting for.
It was two o'clock the next afternoon before Su Ye arrived at the Future Group headquarters.
The matter of seeking bank loans was still proceeding; after all, that was just an excuse for meeting Chen Ze tonight. In reality, Su Ye didn't expect Chen Ze to offer any advice, as the required funds were truly too vast.
"Good afternoon, Chairman Su."
Su Ye smiled and nodded all the way, feeling as if his head would fall off. Every employee who encountered Su Ye either lowered their head and walked around him, greeted him with forced courage, or actively came up to say hello. Su Ye finally understood the troubles of being a leader.
Opening the door to the large conference room, all the group's executives were already in place. As soon as Su Ye entered, everyone's gaze focused on him.
"Clatter." A sound of chairs scraping against the floor.
"Good afternoon, Chairman Su!" The uniform, synchronized voice sounded as if it had been rehearsed.
Su Ye walked to the head of the table, smiled, and pressed his hand down: "Everyone, sit down."
Sitting on his left were Chairman Zhang and General Manager Fang Zheng, while on his right sat Attorney Shi Jun and Qian Xiuxiu. Gu Qingyan stood behind Su Ye, thoughtfully serving him a bone china teacup. She knew that Su Ye generally didn't drink coffee and actually quite liked tea.
From this, one could see that in the current Future Group, Chairman Zhang and General Manager Fang Zheng were on the same side, while Qian Xiuxiu, as an executive promoted on the spot by Su Ye, was on a separate side.
This was exactly in line with Su Ye's thoughts. After all, if the people below were all of one mind, the leaders above would feel uneasy. There needed to be competition below for things to develop better.
Attorney Shi Jun gently placed the organized materials in front of Su Ye: "Chairman Su, these are the issues that we at Zongheng Law Firm have audited over the past few days."
Su Ye said with a smile: "Attorney Shi Jun, you all have worked hard. I have something to attend to tonight and might not be able to host you, but I have already booked dinner. I will trouble Chairman Zhang, General Manager Fang Zheng, and Qian Xiuxiu to host you tonight."
Attorney Shi Jun squeezed a smile onto his naturally serious face: "Then I will thank Chairman Su on behalf of our law firm's employees."
After Su Ye politely declined the thanks, he began to slowly flip through the materials in his hands. Inside the entire conference room, apart from the sound of Su Ye flipping through the pages, one could even hear a pin drop on the floor.
From time to time, Su Ye looked up and could see a few people, even with the large conference room's air conditioning set to 23 degrees, sweating profusely and constantly wiping their brows.
After more than an hour, Su Ye looked at the two piles of materials in front of him. He handed the pile on his left to Chairman Zhang and the pile on his right to Qian Xiuxiu. He then didn't say a word about the audit issues, only instructing the two of them to take a look at the materials later.
Then, Su Ye signaled for General Manager Fang Zheng to arrange for each department head to introduce their department and the problems they had encountered.
The meeting didn't end until 5:30. Aside from some minor issues, the biggest problem for all departments was two words: "Short of money." Very "short of money."
After everyone had exited the conference room, Su Ye rubbed his temples, thinking constantly in his heart. The current problem was that to develop the enterprise, one had to throw money at it, but he didn't have that much money. To outsiders, Su Ye seemed very mysterious and had a powerful background.
In Su Ye's view, this perception was both wrong and right. He didn't have a great background, but he did have the damn system. However, the system was more like a cultivation game; it wouldn't just hand him hundreds of billions or trillions directly, but required him to obtain them by constantly completing tasks.
A pair of cool, soft hands pressed against Su Ye's temples, helping him gently massage them. Su Ye didn't need to look up; just by smelling the fragrance emanating from behind him, he knew it was Gu Qingyan, and he could imagine her shy appearance.
A few minutes later, Su Ye gently stroked Gu Qingyan's right hand, patted it, and said: "Alright, I have something to do in a while, let's go first, otherwise we won't make it in time."
Gu Qingyan lowered her flushed, dripping-red little face, gave a soft "Mn," put her little hands behind her back, and followed Su Ye out.
Su Ye stopped his footsteps and sighed helplessly in his heart: Sis, don't do this to me. If we go outside looking like this, people will think we were doing something in the office.
"Rest for a while. Gu Qingyan, you sit and rest for a bit too; you stood for so long just now."
Meanwhile, inside Chairman Zhang's office, Chairman Zhang and General Manager Fang Zheng looked at the pile of materials on the desk. General Manager Fang Zheng asked, knowing the answer: "Chairman Zhang, what does Chairman Su mean by this?"
Chairman Zhang picked up a few documents and looked at them; they were all people who had embezzled company property or were serious about taking bribes and demanding kickbacks.
He threw the documents in his hand back onto the pile and sighed: "What does it mean? What could it mean? This Chairman Su of ours is not simple. He wants me to clean house myself, so he doesn't dirty his own hands. Moreover, whether it's the management team that followed me before or those I brought in, they are either in this list, or they will feel like the rabbit dying and the fox mourning—they won't be close to me anymore, or they might even have opinions about me. My control over the company will drop significantly."
Chairman Zhang sighed deeply and extinguished the lingering spark of ambition deep within his heart: "Forget it, I didn't plan on doing anything anyway. You take a look at these people and see which ones are yours; pull them out and clean them up yourself."
He then remarked with emotion: "If I'm not mistaken, the list on Qian Xiuxiu's side should all be people with minor issues, crimes not serious enough to warrant death. They will definitely go and lean towards Qian Xiuxiu."
"This move by Chairman Su has once again broken the group's established situation, and he has also stuffed so many people under the Qian Xiuxiu he supported, giving Qian Xiuxiu the strength to truly contend with us."
"Brilliant, truly brilliant."
Following this, everyone called into the office by Chairman Zhang and General Manager Fang Zheng had a mournful face, while those called into the office by Qian Xiuxiu revealed smiles of relief.
Coincidentally, Qian Xiuxiu's office was right across from Chairman Zhang's, with the middle of the hallway as the dividing line; one side was hell, and the other was heaven.
