38: Chapter 38 The Transition Between the Old and the New

Chengdu, Future Technology City, Building A, Future Technology Group headquarters.

The nearly forty-year-old Zhang Hua stood at the entrance of his company, his eyes filled with nostalgia as he stared at the words "Future Technology." Behind him, all the middle and senior management from the Future Technology headquarters and its subsidiaries were standing there today. This was his dynasty, his team; unfortunately, it would soon no longer belong to him.

Thinking back, Zhang Hua started from nothing. With nothing to his name, he spent over a decade building this corporate group worth hundreds of millions, with hidden values reaching billions or even tens of billions. It would be no exaggeration to say that Future Technology was his child.

If he hadn't expected that his wife, who had started from nothing with him, would actually keep a boy toy and abscond to Australia with the money, why would he, Zhang Hua, have to sell his own child?

Otherwise, he would have to watch the group suddenly collapse under heavy debt and a broken capital chain, burying him along with it. Alternatively, he could only sell it, hoping to keep a little money to live peacefully or make a comeback.

"Chairman Zhang, would you like to say a few more words to everyone?"

A middle-aged man in a navy blue suit walked out from the crowd and said softly to Zhang Hua.

Zhang Hua looked at this middle-aged man, then turned to look at the familiar faces behind him. Some were old brothers who had accompanied him in building his empire, while others were talents he had poached from elsewhere. Zhang Hua remembered each of their family situations and detailed information.

Zhang Hua sighed softly, and his previously straight spine slumped. The recent series of blows made this nearly forty-year-old man look like a little old man in his fifties.

"I won't say anything more. I have already said everything that needed to be said. To continue would just be repeating myself. Everyone, pull yourselves together. The new owner of Future Group is coming. Give him a good impression. I, Zhang Hua, have let you all down. I failed to fulfill my initial promises to you, and I failed to lead you to the pinnacle of the Xia Kingdom."

Taking a deep breath, Zhang Hua slightly straightened his hunched spine:

"In a moment, I will request that the new boss of Future Group ensure you all have the best possible outcome. That is all."

Dispirited, Zhang Hua waved his hand and then walked towards the elevator. His straightened back slumped again, as if every step he took was consuming his remaining energy.

The remaining people looked at each other, then couldn't help but tidy up their work uniforms, trying to perk up to present a good face to the new boss. After all, jobs were hard to find now, and everyone knew about the future prospects of Future Group. As long as they could get past this hurdle today, it would be a rebirth, a chance to soar to the skies.

At the back of the crowd, Younger Sister Su Li, who had just been promoted to manager of the Future Intelligent channel department, couldn't help but wipe the sweat from her palms on her slacks. Looking at her calm and composed old leader beside her, she asked curiously:

"Sister Xiuxiu, aren't you nervous?"

Qian Xiuxiu was the Deputy General Manager of Future Intelligent and also Younger Sister Su Li's old leader. She had been mentoring Younger Sister Su Li since she was a fresh college graduate, and later even brought her along when she jumped ship to Future Intelligent, securing a high-level executive position for herself and a middle-management role for Younger Sister Su Li.

Qian Xiuxiu's face was expressionless as she took a discreet look at her old subordinate:

"What are you nervous about?"

"My position has the word 'Deputy' in it, and you are just a middle manager at a branch company."

"We just arrived, we have no historical baggage, and the power in our hands isn't that great."

"If anyone should be nervous, it's those leaders at headquarters or the heads of each branch company. A new official's three fires won't burn us."

Saying this, a gleam flashed in her eyes, and she lowered her voice:

"If things go well, I might even be able to take a step up this time."

Younger Sister Su Li was stunned by Qian Xiuxiu's words. It would be good enough not to get fired, let alone taking a step up?

After all, she was an old hand who had been grinding in society for many years. Plus, Younger Sister Su Li was very smart and knew how to handle things; otherwise, Qian Xiuxiu wouldn't have brought her along.

In an instant, Younger Sister Su Li understood. When a new boss arrives, it's a succession of old and new. The people who get axed are usually one of three types: those holding great power, old retainers from the previous administration, or those with historical baggage. Neither she nor Qian Xiuxiu fell into these three categories.

After these people are axed, the new boss naturally needs to support their own team. Qian Xiuxiu had a clean record, good ability, and no previous entanglements, so she was naturally someone who could be supported. Thinking of this, Younger Sister Su Li's eyes lit up. If Qian Xiuxiu moved up, as her loyal follower, could she not get some benefits?

At this moment, there was some commotion in the front. Qian Xiuxiu hurriedly straightened her back and put a warm, enthusiastic smile on her face.

"Stop talking, the new boss seems to have arrived."

Younger Sister Su Li hurriedly straightened her spine as well and looked straight ahead. After a brief moment of commotion, the scene went quiet.

"Ding-dong."

As the elevators slowly stopped, both the left and right elevators opened. A series of dense footsteps sounded, and men and women of all ages, with solemn expressions and wearing black suits, filed out from the elevators. Each person exuded an air of capability and looked quite extraordinary.

After exiting the elevators, these workplace elites did not move around randomly but distributed themselves on both sides of the hallway.

The senior and middle management of Future Technology were stunned. Was their new boss's entourage this big? Could it be that Alibaba's Father Ma had arrived?

In an instant, they felt excited again. A big entourage was good; it proved that the new boss had strong strength and could lead them to a better future and better development.

Under the gaze of everyone's fervent eyes, Su Ye slowly walked out of the elevator. His clean, short hair fluttered in the breeze, and his eyes, which seemed capable of seeing through people's hearts, were deep and calm. His three-dimensional, exquisite facial features made people sigh, "This person is really handsome."

He wore a cobalt blue suit that looked formal without being old-fashioned. His black leather shoes were polished to a shine, looking clearly like handmade imported calfskin.

His hands hung slightly by his sides, and he looked quite natural. Behind him followed Gu Qingyan, dressed in a light gray professional outfit. The light gray hip-hugging skirt accentuated her perfect, tempting curves, and her pair of fair, straight, long legs moved gently, following Su Ye's pace. Her smooth, black hair was coiled up, and her facial features were so exquisite that many women couldn't help but lower their heads.

Watching the high-spirited Su Ye, Zhang Hua sighed slightly in his heart. Once upon a time, he had been the same. Then, he walked quickly towards Su Ye and reached out his hands enthusiastically:

"Welcome, President Su."

"I am Zhang Hua, the former Chairman of Future Technology."

"Thank you, President Su, for your recognition of Future Technology."

Su Ye extended his slender right hand and shook hands with Zhang Hua lightly, a warm smile like spring sunshine on his face.

"President Zhang, hello."
