93: Chapter 93 Mr. Chen, please give my regards to Mr. Su.

Su Ye did not intend to tell Chen Ze about his discussion with Section Chief Wan right now. After all, if he were to just call and say, "Brother, I've solved your problem," the effect would be completely different from Chen Ze discovering for himself later that the matter had been resolved.

For example, if you were bullied by someone and your brother found out and retaliated on your behalf, would you be more moved if he came to your door to brag about it, or if you later saw that person acting respectfully toward you and learned from their own mouth that your brother had quietly settled the score for you?

Over the next few days, Su Ye took Gu Qingyan and Jiang Bai to the Theme Park separately—after all, he had to spread his attention evenly. He spent the following days flirting with Zhao Sihan and checking on the company's current situation from time to time. Since the loan had been approved, the entire company had entered a state of accelerated operation, and as the boss, he still needed to show his face occasionally.

In the blink of an eye, the day arrived when Chen Chaoyang was set to transfer his shares to Section Chief Wan.

Chen Ze was in the middle of an online meeting with the various general managers of the group's automotive division.

"Next, I would like to discuss—"

He was suddenly interrupted by the vibration of his phone. Chen Ze casually hung up and continued the meeting.

"As I was saying—"

The phone vibrated again. Chen Ze frowned, picked it up, and saw that it was a call from his mother. Since she had called twice in a row, he felt a bad premonition.

As soon as he answered, he heard his mother's anxious voice:

"Xiao Ze, I just received a call from the residential complex security. Your father's illegitimate son just went to the house. I'm currently on a business trip, but I'm taking the next flight back. You need to hurry over and check on things. Since last time, your father hasn't been thinking clearly—"

In an instant, many possibilities raced through Chen Ze's mind. Could Section Chief Wan be officially entering the fray to compete for the inheritance?

"Mom, don't worry, I'm heading home right now."

After hanging up, Chen Ze said to Cao Ye, who was beside him:

"Old Cao, I have something to take care of. You continue with this meeting."

Cao Ye's expression was solemn. He hadn't intended to eavesdrop, but his hearing was quite good, and since he was sitting close by, he had caught snippets of the conversation.

By now, Cao Ye could be considered one of Chen Ze's people. If Chen Ze prospered and held onto power, Cao Ye would naturally rise with him—much like the merit of supporting a new emperor in ancient times. If Chen Ze encountered any trouble, if his position became unstable, or if the group faced a major crisis, Cao Ye would be in a bad spot as well.

"Don't worry, Chairman Chen."

Watching Chen Ze hurry out, Cao Ye composed himself and continued discussing the issue Chen Ze had raised:

"As Chairman Chen just mentioned, the profit from our group's new cars has been declining over the past two years. According to the data, we can see—"

As Chen Ze walked toward the underground parking garage, his mind was brainstorming. Did his father invite Section Chief Wan today, or did he go on his own? And what was his purpose? It certainly couldn't be anything like reminiscing about old times.

He got into his Aston Martin and slammed on the gas, the engine letting out a beastly roar as he instantly accelerated and shot out of the parking garage.

Chen Ze rushed as fast as he could, but it was already half an hour later when he arrived home. He happened to run into Section Chief Wan coming out of the villa, holding a document envelope in his hand.

Section Chief Wan stood at the doorway with a smile, watching Chen Ze arrive. Before Chen Ze could speak, he said:

"You have a good brother, Chairman Chen."

Chen Ze was bewildered by Section Chief Wan's sudden, nonsensical remark and momentarily forgot to even probe for information.

He frowned and said:

"If you have something to say, just say it. Don't speak in riddles with me."

Section Chief Wan waved the document envelope in his hand:

"I'll be waiting for you to bring the money to redeem this."

Section Chief Wan got into his Volkswagen, then rolled down the window and said to Chen Ze:

"Chairman Chen, please give my regards to Mr. Su."

With that, he stepped on the gas and drove away.

Mr. Su? Su Yang? That couldn't be it. He was still abroad, and if he had helped him with anything, he would have made sure the whole world knew. It was impossible for there to be no word of it.

As Chen Ze racked his brains, a figure suddenly appeared in his mind: Su Ye? In Chen Ze's eyes, Su Ye definitely had the ability to handle Section Chief Wan. But although he and Su Ye got along well, why would Su Ye help him?

For a moment, Chen Ze couldn't figure it out, so he simply walked into the villa. He wanted to see what his old man was thinking and what the situation was.

In the villa's living room, a middle-aged man wearing rimless glasses was talking to a short, thin old man, about 1.6 meters tall. Seeing Chen Ze enter, they immediately shut their mouths.

Chen Ze recognized this man; he was his father's legal advisor. Then, recalling the document envelope in Section Chief Wan's hand when he left, his heart tightened.

The middle-aged man greeted Chen Ze:

"Chairman Chen."

Chen Chaoyang glanced at Chen Ze as he entered, then waved his hand at the middle-aged man. The middle-aged man took the cue and retreated, leaving the space to the father and son.

The father and son sat on the sofa, one on the left and one on the right. The atmosphere was momentarily silent. Chen Ze looked at an agreement on the table, reached out, picked it up, and opened it. When he saw the 8% share transfer, his pupils dilated slightly, anger flared in his heart, and his hand holding the A4 paper trembled slightly.

Yes, Section Chief Wan was his son, and he felt guilty toward him. But what about him? What about his mother? What about his sister? Who had accompanied him in building the business from scratch all these years, working day and night? Who had stayed by his bedside day and night when he was sick? As soon as he graduated, while many of his wealthy second-generation friends were still living it up, he had flown back from Australia without a moment's rest because his father was in poor health and he wanted to help share the workload.

Now, Chen Chaoyang, without a word, was going to give so many shares to that boy who had only appeared a few months ago? Even if he wanted to compensate him, this wasn't the way to do it. If Chen Chaoyang had just given Section Chief Wan tens of millions, or even hundreds of millions, Chen Ze wouldn't have said anything. But the Chaoyang Group was the root of their Chen family! To give away so much without even discussing it...

Yes, these were Chen Chaoyang's own shares, but had he really considered the thoughts of him, his mother, and his sister when doing this?

He slammed the document envelope heavily onto the table and was about to start questioning him, but the moment he turned and met his father's gaze, his heart trembled again.

His face, once full of vigor, was now lined with wrinkles. The shrewd eyes of the past had been replaced by the dullness of an old man, and his entire demeanor had lost its vitality; he looked like a withered old man. This man, who had once started from nothing to build a multi-billion empire, had truly aged after his last major illness.

Chen Ze gritted his teeth, wanting to say something, but didn't know where to begin.

"Sigh."

Chen Ze could only sit back on the sofa, let out a long sigh, and rubbed his face repeatedly with both hands.
