82: Chapter 82 That look in his eyes is so affectionate, even when he looks at a dog.
Su Ye walked over to the song selection screen. Li Yi shot him a glance and teased, "Yo, you're finally done? You're actually willing to come and sing a couple of songs? If you kept drinking like that, I reckon I'd have to call an ambulance."
Su Ye shrugged, indicating that he didn't want to drink either; it was purely because that feisty woman, Zhao Sihan, refused to admit defeat and kept dragging him into it.
Li Yi glanced toward the restroom and then said, "Oh, come on, if you don't drink and she doesn't drink, how are you going to get a chance? How is she going to get a chance? How does that saying go? 'When I don't want to sleep with you, I can drink a thousand cups without getting drunk; when I want to sleep with you, I get drunk after one.' Though, I can't quite figure out Zhao Sihan. Is she trying to sleep with you, or is she not?"
Su Ye shrugged, indicating he didn't know what Zhao Sihan was up to either. He then selected a song and sat down next to Li Yi, chatting with the others while waiting for his turn to sing.
Meanwhile, inside the restroom, Zhao Sihan looked at her flushed face in the mirror and suddenly remembered something: "Hey, wait a second. Didn't I fall for Su Ye? Wasn't I supposed to get close to him, understand him, and possess him? Oh, crap. If I keep drinking like this, we're going to end up just being bros. No, no, no. Zhao Sihan, you need to pull yourself together."
With that thought, Zhao Sihan yanked open the restroom door, ready to go out and properly get to know Su Ye.
To her surprise, as soon as she stepped out, she saw Su Ye sitting on a high stool on the solo stage. One of his long legs was draped casually to the side, while the other rested on the footrest of the stool. His right hand held the microphone loosely near his lips. His eyes, which were usually as bright and deep as the stars, were now a bit unfocused, perhaps because he really had drunk quite a bit. If one had to find a way to describe it, it was that Su Ye's gaze was so deep it looked like he was staring at a stray dog on the side of the road with pure affection.
As the musical intro faded, a slightly raspy, smoky voice drifted slowly from Su Ye's lips.
"On the other side of my past, leading to the streets of dawn, a world empty of anyone."
Su Ye's singing technique wasn't particularly good—it was just average KTV level—but his voice was incredibly pleasant to listen to. Plus, with the alcohol hitting him, the emotional resonance was cranked up to the max. Zhao Sihan stood at the restroom door, completely stunned.
Zhao Sihan had recognized the song during the intro—[Someday You Will Appear By My Side]—and as it happened, she loved this song very much.
"Hurry through these years, hope has never been extinguished, in the silent passage of time."
The low, raspy male voice seemed to be telling a story that was lonely yet carried a glimmer of hope.
"The best person is destined to come by my side, a desperate obsession—"
This was persistence—the persistence that she would definitely meet a soulmate. This was also Zhao Sihan's persistence; otherwise, twenty-four-year-old Zhao Sihan wouldn't have gone without a single relationship.
She would only bury her surging, passionate love deep in her heart until she met someone she felt was a match, and then she would release it all at once to envelop him. This was her view on love: very simple, very pure. 'I don't care who you are, what your status is, or whether you like me. I just need to know that I like you, and that's enough.'
"I will eventually see your silhouette appear against the light—"
Zhao Sihan didn't know why she had fallen for Su Ye. Perhaps it was that first time at The Fu Family; there were dozens, even hundreds of people around, but Zhao Sihan's gaze had immediately focused on Su Ye, as if he were glowing, overshadowing everyone else around him.
When she threw that kick at The Fu Family, it looked like she was saving Fu Yun, but what she didn't say was that Su Ye was standing right next to Fu Yun at the time, and she was afraid that Xu Wu would hurt Su Ye.
"Wait until all of this is understood by you, fingers interlaced. Crossing through time, never to part again, walking hand in hand into tomorrow."
The reason Zhao Sihan loved this song was that she felt it was about her. Once she decided on someone, Zhao Sihan would never let go, no matter the circumstances—whether rich or poor, simple or ordinary. Material life had never been Zhao Sihan's pursuit; all she pursued was a meeting of souls.
As the song ended, Su Ye's voice slowly faded. In the quiet private room, the sounds of whistling, cheering, and applause rang out endlessly.
Li Yi whistled and waved his hand: "Ye-zi, you're the best! In a while, I'm going to send you off to become a star."
Instructor Wang felt like he didn't even know what he was saying anymore; there were only two words: awesome. "Awesome, Ye-zi! That song was sung awesomely!"
Chen Duling's little hands were almost red from clapping: "Su Ye, you are just too handsome! I'm going to be your fan."
Xu Ying reached into who knows where on the sofa, pulled out two cheering glow sticks, stood up, and waved them: "Su Ye, you are my god! I just recorded that, I'm definitely going to post it online. Get ready to become an internet celebrity!"
Seeing that the group had provided plenty of emotional validation, Su Ye slowly performed a gentleman's bow from the high stool, elevating the atmosphere of the room even further.
Zhao Sihan's large eyes looked cautiously at Xu Ying and Chen Duling; she had to guard against the two of them. She had just seen their eyes shining when Su Ye finished singing. As a woman, Zhao Sihan naturally knew Su Ye's lethality to women, especially just now while singing—it was no less than dropping a Peacekeeper in the Sahara.
She walked up quickly, grabbed Su Ye by the wrist, and pulled him to the side. "What's up? Trying to dodge the drinks? Su Ye, your drinking etiquette is terrible."
Su Ye glanced at the microphone drifting away from him. He felt that singing was more interesting than drinking against Zhao Sihan, but as a man, he couldn't chicken out: "I just saw that you went to throw up, so I just sang a little to pass the time."
Zhao Sihan was furious. In her entire life, Zhao Sihan had never suffered such a grievance—he was actually spreading rumors that she had thrown up! *Bang!* She opened a bottle of alcohol and shoved it into Su Ye's arms: "Drink!"
Su Ye wasn't afraid either. He took it directly and raised his eyebrows at Zhao Sihan: "Bring it on!"
Since Zhao Sihan wanted to drink, Su Ye would get her drunk today. He would drink her under the table so that she wouldn't dare to chirp and chatter in front of him again.
A new round of drinking began. Li Yi and the others took a look. Instructor Wang nudged Li Yi and said, "Sister-in-law, are we just going to let them drink like this? Drinking it straight, without even touching a single piece of fruit from the platter?"
Li Yi chuckled: "Don't worry about him. Ye-zi knows what he's doing; nothing will go wrong."
Xu Ying whispered, "Ling'er, this Su Ye is way too intense. Who do you think will get drunk and pass out first, him or Sihan?"
Chen Duling thought about it carefully, then observed both sides and shook her head: "I don't know. I can't tell. I feel like they are evenly matched, but I think Su Ye is slightly stronger by just a tiny bit. After all, Sihan has already had to go to the restroom once."
Afterward, although the group continued to sing and drink, their focus remained entirely on Su Ye and Zhao Sihan, wanting to see who would ultimately come out on top.
At two in the morning, hundreds of empty bottles were scattered around their feet. When the waiter came to collect them, Li Yi and the others turned him away. Looking at the empty bottles on the floor, the four of them just shook their heads. It was too terrifying.
