158: Drifting in the Universe! Devil Instructor Lin Mo, teaching online!

“Our target, the Eye of the Storm, is here.”

His finger traced a long arc, landing on the far end of the star map.

It was a gas giant marked with a ferocious purple lightning storm symbol.

“The straight-line distance between the two locations is approximately eight astronomical units.”

“Eight astronomical units?”

Gu Zhixia’s delicate brows furrowed; this distance instantly gave her a clear concept.

“That’s roughly the distance from Earth to Saturn. So far, are we not activating the space jump?”

“No.”

Lin Mo shook his head, his expression instantly turning serious.

“This star system, calm on the surface, is actually a forgotten ancient battlefield.”

“Within the star system, there are countless unrecorded invisible asteroid belts, warship graveyards, and extremely unstable spatial rifts.”

“Before a completely safe navigation chart is drawn, engaging in superluminal travel is tantamount to suicide.”

He paused, his voice carrying an undeniable calmness.

“Once we hit something, even the hull strength of the Natural Selection would be in enormous trouble.”

“Therefore, we can only choose conventional speed travel.”

“At the Natural Selection’s current cruising speed, it will take about seven days to reach Safe Harbor, the outer transfer station of the Eye of the Storm.”

“Seven days?!”

Gu Nianqiu, who had just fluttered over like a little butterfly, heard this number, and her big, watery eyes instantly lit up.

“Then can we have a seven-day, super luxurious space party on the ship?”

“Rejected.”

Gu Zhixia almost instinctively rejected her sister’s naive suggestion, her tone carrying an undeniable sternness.

“These seven days are for us to adapt to the cosmic environment and to prepare for the final battle.”

She turned to look at Lin Mo, her phoenix eyes, burning with fire, held a look of inquiry and understanding.

Lin Mo nodded in agreement.

“She’s right. Not a second of these seven days can be wasted.”

His gaze fell on Gu Zhixia.

“Zhi Xia, you must quickly adapt to piloting ‘Thunder Dragon’ in true three-dimensional combat in a zero-gravity environment. I will use ‘Yama’s’ data to accompany you in simulated training.”

“Additionally, the core databases we captured from the Purgatory Furnace and the Phantom Shark still have a massive amount of encrypted information that hasn’t been deciphered.”

“Within them, perhaps more secrets about the Leviathan Guild, and even those so-called ‘gods,’ are hidden. This will be our main work for these seven days.”

“Then… what about me?”

Gu Nianqiu, hugging her carrot pillow, raised her hand weakly like a primary school student afraid of being overlooked by the teacher in class.

Lin Mo and Gu Zhixia exchanged glances, then almost in unison said:

“You’re in charge of logistics.”

“Ah? Logistics again…”

The Little Girl pouted her delicate pink lips in disappointment, and her whole demeanor drooped.

Lin Mo looked at her pitiful appearance, his heart softened, and he added:

“Your mission is the most important.”

“It includes researching new recipes and developing ‘buff’ dishes that can temporarily boost our combat efficiency and mental focus.”

“This mission concerns our survival rate going forward, and only you can complete it.”

“Mission accomplished!”

As soon as Gu Nianqiu heard “new recipes” and “only you can complete,” she instantly revived, even giving Lin Mo a rather clumsy military salute with all seriousness.

“Alright, hold on tight, everyone.”

Lin Mo looked at the two girls and said in a deep voice, “I’m about to activate the simulated gravity field.”

He pressed a button on the armrest of the throne.

Buzz—

An invisible force field, like mercury flowing across the ground, instantly swept through every corner of the entire warship.

The two sisters, who had been freely floating in the air, along with the giant carrot pillow, simultaneously felt a familiar, irresistible downward pull.

“Thud.”

Gu Nianqiu and her precious pillow fell onto the soft carpet together, emitting a particularly cute muffled sound.

Gu Zhixia, however, in the instant of falling, used her waist to exert force, executing a beautiful spin like a gazelle hanging from a corner, her feet landing lightly and steadily on the ground, her posture still heroic and upright.

“Ugh… Brother Mo, couldn’t you have counted down ten seconds beforehand…”

Gu Nianqiu rubbed her little bottom, clambered up from the carpet, and complained softly, her eyes full of grievance.

Outside the window was an endless, desolate star sea.

Inside the window, however, was a space filled with laughter and the unique warmth of their home.

The Natural Selection, like a lonely ark carrying humanity’s last spark and will for revenge, sailed steadfastly towards the unknown, dark deep space filled with storms and thunder.

Seven days of interstellar travel were enough to transition anyone stepping into the cosmos for the first time from initial excitement and novelty to the soul-crushing boredom and stillness that could drive one mad.

The universe is both ultimately magnificent and ultimately empty.

Day after day, the scenery outside the viewport remained almost unchanged; only distant specks of starlight moved slowly at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye.

But for the three on the Natural Selection, these seven days passed exceptionally fully, one might even say, with every nerve taut… “Boom—!!!”

Inside the simulated training cabin.

A silver-blue “Thunder Dragon” mech, after narrowly dodging a virtual particle beam capable of piercing a warship, was violently kicked flying by another mech, the “Yama,” entirely black and appearing like a demon god descending, in an utterly humiliating manner!

The mech crashed heavily into the cold virtual asteroid belt, its entire armor emitting a grating, unbearable screech of protest.

“Warning: Hull damage exceeds 70%! Left arm functionality completely lost! Energy engine overloaded!”

The cold system prompt, like a death knell, echoed madly within the cramped cockpit.

Gu Zhixia gasped for breath, her forehead covered in fine beads of sweat, which trickled down her pale cheeks, soaking her collar.

She stared intently at the black demon god slowly approaching in the cosmic background.

Her phoenix eyes were filled with extreme unwillingness and a battle intent burning to madness.

“Again!”

She roared, slamming the control stick to the bottom!

The sole remaining “Thunder Dragon” squeezed out its last shred of energy, its engine emitting a final roar, like a desperate arrow shot at a god, launching its final charge towards “Yama”!

However, facing this futile struggle, like a mantis trying to stop a chariot, “Yama” simply raised its hand calmly.

No weapon, no unnecessary movements.

Its five fingers spread open.

An indestructible dark-golden energy barrier, composed of pure power of law, instantly unfolded before it.

Bang—!!!

“Thunder Dragon’s” desperate charge, like a moth flying into the sun, shattered into pieces against that unshakeable sacred barrier.

In the violent explosion, the silver-blue streak transformed into a dazzling yet tragic virtual fireworks display.

“Simulation ended.”

“Verdict: Defeat.”

The training cabin door slid open silently, and Gu Zhixia walked out almost completely drained, her steps somewhat unsteady.

She took the towel and electrolyte water Lin Mo had already prepared, and without a word, she tilted her head back and drank the cold liquid in one gulp.
