70: Laser floor cleaning
It was 1:50 PM.
On the azure sea, a small sailboat bobbed weakly with the waves.
Onboard, four figures anxiously gazed at the distant horizon.
The man leading them was of average build and ordinary appearance, but his eyes were exceptionally bright, gleaming with a calculating sharpness.
His ID was Planner.
"Boss, will that 'survival of the fittest' really come?" a burly, muscular man couldn't help but ask, a hint of unease in his voice.
"What if he's just messing with us?"
Planner, Chen Ping, didn't turn his head, merely glancing at the time displayed on his personal terminal.
"He will come."
His tone was calm, yet carried a confidence based on precise analysis.
"For an existence of his caliber, our intelligence is a surefire investment.
Our only value to him is that door.
As long as he's interested in that door, he will definitely come."
Another slender team member shielded his eyes from the glaring sun and licked his chapped lips.
"I'm just a little curious what kind of ship he's sailing.
Even the Longxiang Fleet, a fleet of that scale, was wiped out by him alone.
He's probably sailing a real aircraft carrier, isn't he?"
This conjecture plunged everyone on the boat into silence.
Aircraft carrier.
In this world where everyone struggled for a piece of wood, a bottle of fresh water, the word sounded like a myth from the last century.
Just then...
"Boss, look at the sky!"
The slender team member suddenly exclaimed, his finger trembling as he pointed towards the sky.
Chen Ping sharply looked up.
A tiny black dot had appeared on the distant horizon.
The black dot was rapidly growing larger at an incredible speed.
It wasn't sailing on the sea.
It was flying.
Chen Ping's pupils instantly contracted to pinpricks.
He had originally thought the other party would arrive piloting a colossal steel ship, braving the wind and waves, or perhaps a vast and imposing fleet, showcasing an unmatched majesty.
He had envisioned countless possibilities.
But he had never imagined this one.
It was a gigantic vessel, shimmering with a silvery metallic luster, full of sci-fi aesthetics.
It silently hovered beneath the clouds, its streamlined hull too perfect to be an earthly creation, its immense size casting a shadow over the sea like a divine punishment.
The small wooden boat Chen Ping relied on for survival, dwarfed by this shadow, was as insignificant as a helpless fallen leaf.
"Shock" was insufficient to describe his feelings at this moment.
It was a tremor from the depths of his soul, a feeling of his worldview being violently torn apart, his cognition utterly subverted.
Planner: Sir... have you arrived?
With trembling hands, he sent this dry greeting in the private message channel.
Inside the Bridge of the Natural Selection.
Lin Mo looked at the radar screen, at the clearly marked green light dot representing the "Planner" team.
At the same time, the radar scan results clearly showed dozens of red light dots, representing hostile Life forms, densely distributed across the entire island.
Goblin Tribe (Small)
Goblin Shaman (Elite)
Goblin Spearman (Normal)
...
Lin Mo's brow furrowed slightly.
He had no patience to waste time clearing these minor enemies after landing.
He looked at the private message from Planner, his finger gently tapping on the virtual keyboard.
survival of the fittest: No hurry.
survival of the fittest: When visiting someone else's territory, one must always knock first.
"Knock?"
On the small boat, Chen Ping looked at this reply, his mind a blank.
What did he mean?
The next second, he understood.
Below the silver behemoth hovering high in the sky, several smooth armor plates silently slid open to either side.
Turrets, grotesque in design and filled with a cold, murderous aura, slowly lowered, locking onto the lush island below.
Chen Ping's heart suddenly stopped beating.
His team members, even more terrified, slumped onto the deck, their faces drained of color.
"Om—"
A faint sound of energy gathering came from high above.
Immediately after.
A crimson, high-energy laser, like a sword of divine punishment, tore through the air and precisely struck deep within the island's dense forest.
There was no earth-shattering explosion.
Only a section of trees and rocks, along with the Goblin sentinels hidden within, were instantly vaporized and evaporated, leaving behind a bottomless, charred crater with edges as smooth as a mirror.
Dead silence.
Absolute dead silence.
Immediately after.
The second.
The third.
The fourth.
Crimson beams of light began to descend from the sky at a chilling, unvarying frequency.
Each flash signified the complete eradication of Life in an area from this world.
High-Energy Laser Cannon (Gold-tier)
Rate of Fire: 0.5 seconds/shot
That was no longer an attack.
It was a cold and efficient cleansing from the sky.
Chen Ping and his team watched as the island was flattened, bit by bit, as if by an invisible divine hand wielding a red-hot branding iron.
They could even see groups of Goblins fleeing in panic through the forest, only to turn to dust in the next beam of light.
"This... this..."
The burly strongman was now clutching his head, trembling like a leaf, emitting incoherent, broken moans from his throat.
His proud strength was as humble as a joke before this world-shattering power.
Inside the Bridge.
Gu Nianqiu was peering out the porthole, her large eyes sparkling.
"Wow, Brother Mo, this is like playing Whac-A-Mole! So much fun!"
Gu Zhixia stood behind Lin Mo, watching him calmly operate the weapon system, systematically advancing the fire coverage map of the entire island inwards.
Her sharp phoenix eyes reflected the constantly flickering red dots on the screen, filled with admiration and approval for such absolute power.
They, the sisters, had long grown accustomed to Lin Mo always pulling off something spectacular at critical moments.
"Too many minor enemies, too slow."
Lin Mo seemed a little impatient, muttering to himself.
Then, his finger pressed the button glowing with a dangerous orange light.
"Overclock mode, activate."
Om—!!!
The entire hull of the Natural Selection let out an even higher-pitched hum.
The energy cores of all the high-energy laser turrets located below the ship instantly glowed to their maximum intensity!
Those were no longer individual beams of light.
It was a continuous, crimson waterfall of pure energy, sweeping everything before it!
A firing rate of 0.05 seconds per shot caused all the attacks to merge into one, forming a colossal pillar of light that, with overwhelming force, slowly pulverized the island from one end to the other!
Hills were leveled.
Forests were incinerated.
Rocks were melted.
The entire island, before this unreasonable violence, wailed, trembled, and finally fell silent.
Chen Ping's mouth hung open, staring blankly at the mythical scene before him.
He felt as if his brain had completely stopped thinking, turning into a blank slate.
A few minutes later.
The light dissipated.
The silver behemoth, suspended high in the sky, retracted all its turrets, resuming its flawless posture, quietly hovering.
And the island below.
It had been utterly transformed into a charred, barren, still-smoking land of glass.
Clean.
So damn clean.
Lin Mo glanced at the radar.
On the screen, the last red dot had also disappeared.
He stood up and turned to Gu Zhixia behind him.
"Depart."
"Go to the island."
