45: Weird Creatures

The black fog, like a massive curtain, instantly engulfed the entire world.

Light, sound, and even the sea breeze were completely erased at this moment.

Dead silence.

A pure, dead silence, enough to drive one mad.

Inside the Bridge of the Natural Selection, all the lights flickered wildly a few times, then went out with a "snap."

The screen plunged into complete darkness.

"Ah!"

Gu Nianqiu let out a short shriek, clinging tightly to Lin Mo, her small body trembling uncontrollably.

Gu Zhixia's breathing also became rapid. She instinctively tightened her grip on the Six-Harmony Long Spear in her hand, leaning against the cold ship wall, and warily scanned the impenetrable darkness outside the window.

Lin Mo's brows furrowed tightly.

He felt that within this black fog, there seemed to be a strange power suppressing his mental energy.

He tried to establish a mental link with the Natural Selection, but found that the link was intermittent and full of interference.

This was definitely not something Longyuan could do.

The distance he had previously put between himself and the black fog was at least a hundred thousand miles.

Yet, it managed to catch up, and at such an incredibly fast speed.

There was only one possibility: the black fog was not only present at the very rear of the sea.

Just then, a mechanical system prompt sounded in the silent Bridge.

"Warning: You have been drawn into the Lost Black Fog. All remote communication and radar systems will experience strong interference, expected to resume in 24 hours."

"Warning: In the black fog, sense of direction will be severely affected. Do not navigate arbitrarily to avoid being lost forever."

As the prompt ended, emergency lights came on, illuminating the Bridge with a dim, yellow glow.

Most of the functional modules on the control panel lit up again, but the areas representing radar and communication remained a field of dark, static snow.

Lin Mo knew that if he navigated recklessly now, he would only get deeper into trouble.

The immediate priority was to conserve strength and observe the situation.

After all, no one knew what other terrifying entities might be hidden within this strange black fog.

Just then.

Splash—

A tremendous splash came from below the side of the ship's hull.

Lin Mo abruptly turned his head to look.

He saw a colossal creature slowly rising from the seabed in the dark waters outside the window.

It was a gigantic octopus.

Its head was as large as a house, its dark red skin covered in eerie patterns, and countless pale white eyeballs rotated irregularly on its head.

Each of its extended tentacles was dozens of meters long, covered with dense, tooth-like suckers.

It made no sound, but simply stared intently at the three people inside the cabin through the thick porthole with its countless pale white eyes.

An indescribable coldness and malice instantly enveloped the entire Bridge.

"Mental attack detected! Continuous staring will cause SAN value to continuously decrease!"

"Current SAN value: 99%"

"Don't look into its eyes!"

Lin Mo yelled in a low voice.

He immediately made Gu Nianqiu hide behind him, and at the same time commanded,

"Nianqiu, go make some food that can restore mental energy, quickly!"

"O-okay!"

Gu Nianqiu's face was pale with fright, but she still suppressed her fear and scrambled into the kitchen.

Gu Zhixia also immediately averted her gaze, a thin layer of cold sweat already beading on her forehead.

Fortunately, they had eaten a lot of permanent attribute-boosting food beforehand, which significantly strengthened their resistance to mental attacks this time.

Lin Mo manipulated the Natural Selection, the engine instantly started, and the ship abruptly turned around, fleeing at full speed in the direction away from the giant octopus.

However, another anomaly occurred.

Just as they had sailed less than a kilometer away.

A dilapidated, decaying, pitch-black ghost ship suddenly burst out of the black fog ahead without any warning!

The ship's mast was long broken, its sails tattered, and its hull was covered in moss and barnacles, exuding a strong aura of death and decay.

It was like an undead creature crawling out of the deep-sea hell, rushing straight towards the Natural Selection.

Whoosh—!

Before Lin Mo could react, a massive grappling hook suddenly shot out from the ghost ship!

The grappling hook was entirely made of pale white bones, entwined with eerie black mist.

It ignored the Natural Selection's electromagnetic defense barrier, as if passing through a phantom, and with a "crack," it firmly hooked onto the deck of the Natural Selection!

The next second.

Countless skeleton soldiers, emitting eerie green phosphorescence, followed the bone grappling hook, making "clack clack" sounds of bones rubbing, and began to frantically swarm onto the deck of the Natural Selection!

...Meanwhile, the Longxiang Fleet was also completely swallowed by the sudden black fog.

On the Bridge of the flagship, the Dragon Soaring, a similar chaos ensued.

Piercing alarms blared incessantly, all the instrument panels flickered wildly, eventually settling into a dead, dark silence.

"What's going on!"

"Radar's out! We can't see anything!"

"Communication cut off! Can't contact any friendly ships!"

The crew's shouts and roars rose and fell, and panic, like a plague, quickly spread through the enclosed Bridge.

"All of you, shut up!"

A cold and authoritative roar, like a clap of thunder, instantly drowned out all the noise.

Longyuan stood with his hands behind his back before the porthole; his resolute face showed no hint of panic, only a deep, cold composure.

"Maintain fleet formation, don't panic!"

His mental commands seemed to be severely interfered with, but he could still basically maintain the connection of the entire fleet.

All the crew members instinctively stopped shouting and turned their gaze towards their god-like leader.

Thunder Tiger forced himself to remain calm and walked to Longyuan's side, his voice still trembling slightly.

"Boss, this fog is too strange, and that ship is gone, we..."

Longyuan didn't turn around, simply gazing silently at the impenetrable darkness outside the window.

Just then.

A lookout crew member suddenly pointed to the sky and let out a distorted shriek.

"The... the sky..."

His voice trembled like a sieve, his face filled with an indescribable horror and absurdity.

Everyone instinctively looked up in the direction he was pointing.

Then, the entire Bridge fell into absolute dead silence.

At the top of the thick black fog, an unimaginably huge silhouette slowly pushed aside the clouds, revealing itself.

It was a Kun.

A colossal mythical creature floating in the sky, of immense size.

Its body almost covered the entire sky, and its shadow made the dozen or so steel warships below appear like grains of sand.

Its entire body was a deep, ethereal blue, like the cosmos, and patterns of the sun, moon, and stars seemed to slowly flow on its surface.

It had no eyes, or rather, each of its scales was like a closed eye.

It just floated there silently, bringing with it an absolute sense of oppression, more terrifying than any roar, enough to crush the soul.

Before it, the so-called SS-class destroyers, the so-calledCombined Fleet, became a ridiculous, overestimating joke.

Thunder Tiger's mouth involuntarily gaped open, and his weapon clattered to the ground, but he was oblivious.

Longyuan's composure and calmness finally shattered at this moment.

His pupils contracted sharply.

Then, the Giant Kun moved.

It slowly aimed its continent-like head at the Longxiang Fleet below.

The next second.

It charged towards the fleet.

No sound.

No warning.

Only that massive shadow, capable of engulfing everything, pressed down with an irresistible, unavoidable force!
