189: Welcome back, sister

The gears of time began to grind repeatedly over Gu Zhixia’s soul in a bizarre and cruel manner.

Second cycle.

When Chen Feng’s repulsive face reappeared, a strong, unexplainable murderous intent surged in Gu Zhixia’s heart. She instinctively wanted to tear these scumbags to shreds.

However, the thought “they are human” echoed in her mind again, like a pre-programmed command, delaying her actions.

She hesitated again.

And so, her younger sister was captured again.

She and Lin Mo chased again.

At the edge of the cliff, the same standoff, the same threats.

When the thug’s dagger was raised again, Gu Zhixia frantically wanted to rush over, but her body was bound by invisible chains, and she could only watch the tragedy repeat itself.

“Pfft—!”

Crimson blood splattered across her vision once more.

The sight of her younger sister falling was like a rusty saw, slowly and repeatedly tearing at her nerves.

She held her younger sister’s cold body and fell off the cliff again.

Third cycle.

“Sister, what are you spacing out for?”

Gu Nianqiu’s voice, like a curse from hell, echoed in her ears.

Gu Zhixia trembled violently. She looked at her younger sister, whose face was blooming with a smile, and at the sweet-smelling toast she was offering, and her stomach churned.

She wanted to vomit.

She pushed her younger sister’s hand away, and the toast fell onto the beach, covered in sand.

“Sister?” Gu Nianqiu’s face showed an expression of hurt and confusion.

“Don’t touch me!” Gu Zhixia almost shrieked as she recoiled a step.

She didn’t know why she was like this; she only knew that this innocent face before her filled her with a bone-deep fear.

Lin Mo frowned and stepped forward: “Zhi Xia, what’s wrong with you?”

Gu Zhixia looked at him, opened her mouth, but couldn’t say anything. She wanted to tell him, we can’t go into that jungle, it’s dangerous there, Nianqiu will die.

But when she spoke, another sentence came out: “Nothing, maybe I’m just not used to the climate.”

Her body, her words, seemed to no longer be under her control. She was like a puppet on strings, manipulated by an invisible hand, forced to follow a predetermined script, step by step, towards that bloody ending that had already been written.

This time, when Chen Feng appeared, she couldn’t even muster the strength to resist.

She numbly watched her younger sister being taken, numbly watched Lin Mo arrive, and numbly chased to the cliff’s edge.

When the dagger pierced her younger sister’s throat, she didn’t even cry anymore.

Only the blood reflected in her hollow eyes grew thicker and deeper.

She held her younger sister’s body and, for the third time, fell into the abyss.

Fourth time.

Fifth time...tenth time.

The speed of the cycles accelerated.

The warm breakfast, the damp jungle, Chen Feng’s sinister grin, her younger sister’s scream, the blood on the cliff... these scenes were like a broken videotape, played repeatedly and frantically.

The scenes began to blur and distort.

Sometimes, the breakfast toast would turn into a wriggling mass of flesh and blood.

Sometimes, the trees in the jungle would transform into twisted arms, reaching out to grab her.

Sometimes, Chen Feng’s face would overlap with Lin Mo’s face, grinning eerily at her.

Only one scene remained clear.

It was the moment her younger sister fell.

The wound on her neck, growing deeper and more hideous.

The light in her eyes, slowly extinguishing, mixed with pain, confusion, and dependence.

This image was branded into the deepest part of her soul, and each cycle deepened the brand further.

Her spirit, in this repeated extreme agony, was repeatedly crushed, reassembled, and crushed again.

Until, in who knows which dozens of cycles.

When she stood on the cliff’s edge again, watching the thug raise his dagger.

Her mind was no longer blank, but filled with countless images of her younger sister’s death, exploding like a tsunami!

Hundreds and thousands of Gu Nianqiu died before her in various ways.

Throat slit by a dagger, head smashed by a rock, pushed off a cliff... All the pain, all the regret, all the despair, at this moment, converged into the purest, monstrous rage, enough to incinerate the entire universe!

“Ah—!!!”

She let out a non-human, piercing roar that could tear through space.

The invisible shackles binding her body and will shattered inch by inch before this ultimate fury and pain!

Reality and illusion briefly overlapped at this moment.

The Six-Harmony Long Spear in her hand was no longer cold ordinary iron, but a divine weapon wreathed in golden, blue, and purple lightning, wielding destruction and ending!

“Die for me—!!!”

When the thug’s dagger was still 0.01 centimeters from her younger sister’s neck.

Gu Zhixia moved.

She didn’t go to save her younger sister.

Because she knew that everything before her was fake.

She had only one target.

It was that face before her, which made her wish she could eat his flesh and sleep on his skin!

Whoosh—!

A dark purple stream of light, composed purely of the “Annihilation” law, burst from the tip of her spear.

That was not a physical attack.

That stream of light ignored distance, ignored time, and ignored all obstacles in its path.

It directly struck Chen Feng, who was standing behind the thug, still wearing a smug, sinister grin!

Chen Feng’s smile froze.

No wounds appeared on his body, not a single drop of blood flowed.

He simply began to “disappear.”

Starting from the tips of his fingers, his body, along with his clothes, all his existential information, began to turn into the most insignificant black specks of light, being completely erased from this world, little by little.

He couldn’t even let out a scream, only watching himself being dragged into the abyss of “nothingness.”

In less than a second, Chen Feng, along with his vile soul, was conceptually deleted from this illusion.

With his disappearance, the entire false illusion began to collapse violently.

The cliff before her shattered into countless broken mirror fragments.

Lin Mo and the thug holding her younger sister also dissipated.

Only Gu Nianqiu remained standing. The fatal wound on her neck was slowly healing, and the fear and tears on her face receded, replaced by a sad, compassionate, gentle gaze.

She opened her arms and, like when she was little, gently embraced Gu Zhixia.

“Sister,” her voice, like a warm breeze, dispelled the last cold mist in Gu Zhixia’s heart, “welcome back.”

“You finally... found me.”

Boom—!

The entire illusion completely collapsed.
