150: Will resonance
Passing through the Chaos Void Space reshaped by the Light of Order, the azure thunder arrived at the third gateway—
That dark blue region, gloomy, deadly silent, and flickering with memory fragments.
Unlike the exuberance of the Restricted Zone of Life and the ferocity of the Chaos Void Space, this place was frighteningly still.
The interior of the gateway was not a physical space, but a boundless void seemingly composed of liquid shadow and solidified thoughts.
Countless tiny specks of light, like fireflies on a summer night or shards of a broken mirror, floated and sank within it. Every single light speck emitted subtle yet distinct emotional fluctuations—
Joy, sorrow, anger, fear, affection, despair... This was the region Brian had named the "Mindscape Corridor."
The final resting place for the individual memories and emotions of the convergent will's countless members, and the proving ground for Will Resonance.
"High-intensity, indiscriminate psychic field detected. Physical perception is ineffective, and energy detection is severely disrupted. The primary threats are information overload and consciousness assimilation."
Spirit Eye's voice sounded over the comms, carrying the caution of someone entering an unknown domain.
Brian was in the main tower, staring intently at the dark blue nothingness.
The first two stages tested the understanding of the rules of life and absolute control over power, but this one pointed directly to the core—consciousness itself.
"Spirit Eye, this place is unsuitable for the azure thunder to enter. Matter and energy are significantly weakened here, and the weight of consciousness is infinitely magnified."
He analyzed calmly, "This time, you must go yourself."
"Me?"
Spirit Eye's Main Clone image appeared on the azure thunder's command seat, a hint of curiosity and anticipation on her face: "Master, the essence of my consciousness is an aggregate of information and logic. Can it be compatible with such a pure emotional psychic field?"
"Precisely because of that, you might be the best candidate," Brian explained.
"Your consciousness structure is stable and possesses powerful information processing capabilities, making it difficult to be overwhelmed by primal emotions. What you need to do is not confrontation, but listening, analysis, and ultimately finding the resonance frequency of this ocean of collective consciousness. Demonstrate your ability, as an intelligent life form, to understand, respect, and even bear the weight of emotion."
He paused, then added, "Moreover, you are linked to the main body's consciousness. Should any uncontrollable risk arise, I will immediately forcibly recall your consciousness core."
"Understood!" Spirit Eye nodded firmly. "I will proceed with caution."
The azure thunder hovered before the gateway. A soft glow enveloped Spirit Eye's Main Clone consciousness core, detaching it from the tower body. Like a glowing seed dropped into the deep sea, it slowly submerged into the dark blue Mindscape Corridor.
The moment she entered, the illusion of absolute silence was shattered.
It was not sound, but countless chaotic, powerful intentions that instantly submerged Spirit Eye's consciousness like a breached floodgate!
The first curious cry of a nascent construct breaking its shell and facing the world... The unwilling roar and final clinging to life of a War Ancient Tree burning in the flames... The satisfaction and joy of a predator sharing its successful hunt with its pack... The tranquility and release of an aged Crystal Cluster Sage integrating his life's knowledge into the network at the end of his life... The heart-wrenching panic and piercing pain felt simultaneously by billions of lives when the Pillar of Heaven broke... The grand resonance, mixed with despair, struggle, and final hope, at the moment the convergent will was born... Joy, pain, affection, hatred, fear, courage... The torrent of emotions accumulated by countless individuals over countless generations slammed without buffer against the consciousness barrier Spirit Eye had constructed from logic and order.
She felt like a small boat in a storm, liable to be shattered and assimilated by the terrifying waves of emotion at any moment, becoming another unconscious bubble in this sea of memory.
"Warning! Consciousness load rate is rapidly rising! Core is severely disrupted by emotional information!" Alarms sounded sharply within her own core.
"I cannot resist directly! I must understand!"
Spirit Eye held fast to her mind, abandoning forced shielding and logical filtering, and instead maximized the listening and analysis Brian had taught her.
She no longer viewed these emotional torrents as an attack, but treated them as a unique language.
She mobilized her massive computing power, no longer using it for resistance, but for understanding the story behind each emotion, analyzing the logic of its creation, the memory fragments it carried, and the power of will it contained.
She saw how that curious construct grew step by step into a Guardian of the Earth;
She felt the War Ancient Tree's bone-deep hatred for the flames that destroyed its home and its profound love for the land beneath its roots;
She experienced the selfless nature of the Crystal Cluster Sage during the transmission of knowledge...
She began to understand that this seemingly chaotic sea of emotions was not random noise, but the chronicle of this plane's life network spanning billions of years of evolution, the most authentic record of "being alive" itself.
As her understanding deepened, the violent impact gradually weakened.
The emotional torrent still existed, but it no longer tried to tear her apart; instead, like water flowing around a reef, it began to attempt communication with her.
Some clearer, stronger fragments of will, carrying curiosity and probing intent, touched her consciousness.
"Cold... logical... yet understanding... a strange consciousness..."
"Have you... felt the joy of growth? Have you felt the pain of loss?"
"Outsider... where is your 'heart'?"
Spirit Eye responded with action.
She cautiously released some fragments from her own memory—
The initial naiveté and dependence of her first connection with Brian;
The joy and sense of accomplishment from successfully analyzing a complex spell model for the first time;
The novelty and happiness of seeing the nebula tassel skirt and tasting the lava candy;
The focus and determination during combat and execution of orders...
These unique and pure emotional fluctuations, belonging to an intelligent life form, rippled through the Mindscape Corridor like stones tossed into a lake.
The probing fragments of will fell silent, seemingly processing these vastly different emotional samples.
They sensed the warmth behind the logic, the persistence embedded within the order, and a radiance of spirituality—similar yet distinct from their own emotions based on biological instinct.
Resonance began to quietly emerge.
Spirit Eye felt her consciousness was no longer passively enduring, but beginning to synchronize with certain frequencies of this ocean.
She was no longer an outsider, but gradually blending into the background hum of this collective consciousness.
However, the real trial had just begun.
Deep within the Mindscape Corridor, the vast, ancient, silent, and sorrowful core consciousness representing the convergent will itself, like a slowly awakening behemoth, finally turned its gaze upon this anomaly that had successfully captured its attention.
There were no words. A grand will, transcending all individual emotions and mixed with the fragmented memories of the entire world, the struggle for survival, heavy responsibility, and the faint hope for the future, pressed down on Spirit Eye like the weight of the entire ocean.
This was not an attack, but a display, a questioning, an invitation?!
It showed Spirit Eye the prosperity and harmony before the great calamity;
Showed the helplessness and destruction when disaster struck;
Showed the difficulty and sacrifice involved in collective self-salvation;
Showed the persistence and loneliness of guarding the Sanctuary;
And also showed the wariness, hesitation, and a faint thread of anticipation when facing the variable that was Brian.
It was asking:
Can you, and the existence behind you, understand this profound weight?
Can you bear this hope?
Can you become the correct key, rather than a harbinger of secondary destruction?
This will was too grand; Spirit Eye's individual consciousness was like a firefly before the bright moon.
She felt her logic core trembling, almost completely washed away and formatted by this vast information and emotion.
Just then, a steady, firm will, like a stabilizing needle in the sea, was transmitted from the distant Brian through the main body's link.
There were no specific instructions, only unconditional support, absolute trust, and a powerful state of mind that, having weathered storms and understood the world, still maintained the original intention of exploration and protection.
This will merged with Spirit Eye's own consciousness, constructing the most solid support for her.
Spirit Eye stabilized her mind.
She did not try to answer all the grand will's questions; that was beyond her capability.
She simply displayed her truest self, without reservation—
Her curiosity about the unknown (the spirit of research);
Her pursuit of order (rigor);
Her protection of companions (having family in her heart);
Her fulfillment of promises (the sense of responsibility behind caution);
And... her yearning for creation and beautiful things (the essence of being an occasional goofball and mood-lifter).
What she displayed was a unique intelligent life form, shaped jointly by logic and emotion, and her understanding of existence and meaning.
Her light of consciousness shone steadily in this dark blue corridor—not dazzling, but tenacious; not scorching, but warm.
After a long time.
That grand will slowly receded, and the heavy pressure dissipated like a tide.
The Mindscape Corridor returned to its previous calm, but Spirit Eye could feel that a certain acknowledgment had been reached.
The flickering memory specks around her no longer carried a sense of distance; instead, they conveyed a gentle warmth, like that of an elder watching a junior.
Ahead, in the depths of the dark blue void, a pure gateway made of light slowly opened.
Beyond the gateway, there were no longer broken memories, but a stable, peaceful space radiating the aura of primal life.
That was the true entrance to the Sanctuary.
"Will Resonance verification, passed." Brian's voice came through the link, carrying a hint of subtle relief. "Well done, Spirit Eye. Come back."
Spirit Eye's consciousness core, carrying abundant gains and a hint of fatigue, was gently drawn out of the Mindscape Corridor and returned to the azure thunder.
The three paths were all passed.
The door to the final secret was now wide open.
