90: Steel and flesh

The day the Orc army attacked the city.

At dawn, a thin mist shrouded the plains in front of Blizzard Fortress.

From afar, the low horn calls of the Orcs could be heard, and the sound of war drums grew closer, making the ground tremble slightly.

Six thousand robots were the first to ascend into the sky, the hum of their engines echoing across the heavens.

They split into three formations, swarming like a beehive towards the five mountain-like War Behemoths.

“Behemoth number three, turn to the east!”

Spirit Eye’s voice spread across the battlefield through the amplification Magic Formation.

Ground forces responded immediately.

Three hundred thousand soldiers and twenty-four thousand combat robots quickly adjusted their formations, forming a defensive line intertwined with steel and flesh.

When the first Behemoth broke through the aerial interception, hundreds of light points suddenly lit up on the city wall. Beams from the magic gun volley pierced through the morning mist, accurately hitting the Behemoth’s right eye.

The Behemoth let out a deafening roar, shaking its head in pain.

The Orc commander roared and swung his battle-axe, and the remaining four Behemoths simultaneously began to charge.

With every step they took, the earth trembled.

But the cooperation between humans and robots caught the Orcs off guard:

When a Behemoth lifted its foot to step, the anti-gravity Magic Formation on the ground immediately activated, slowing its movement by half a beat;

When a Behemoth opened its mouth to breathe fire, the robots quickly deployed energy shields, firmly blocking the flames.

“Flanking on the left successful!” a centurion shouted loudly.

Three hundred elite swordsmen seized the opportunity to advance, climbing up along the joint seams of the Behemoth’s legs, plunging enchanted daggers fiercely into its nerve nodes.

The first War Behemoth let out one last wail, crashing to the ground and kicking up a cloud of dust.

A cheer erupted on the battlefield, the shouts of human soldiers mixing with the electronic sounds of the robots.

The remaining Behemoths tried to change tactics, but found their retreat was blocked by the robots' firepower network.

“Second echelon, missiles ready!”

Spirit Eye’s command was concise and powerful.

A thousand robots simultaneously opened their shoulder launchers, and dense magic missiles whistled as they flew towards the heads of two Behemoths.

The shockwave from the explosion instantly froze the Behemoths’ movements.

“Shield soldiers, advance!”

Five thousand heavily armored infantry advanced with neat steps, the magic light shimmering on their shields forming a moving wall of light on the battlefield.

At the same time,

Two thousand robots raised their magic guns, and continuous energy beams burned deep furrows into the Behemoths’ hard hides.

The third Behemoth attempted to spit acid, but was targeted by the robots’ concentrated fire, who were already prepared.

Energy beams shot into its gaping maw, triggering an explosion deep in its throat.

When the knee joint of the fourth Behemoth was severed by human swordsmen, the outcome was decided.

The last Behemoth turned to flee,

but found its retreat route was already swarming with robots and human soldiers.

“Close the net.”

Following Spirit Eye’s command,

soldiers threw specialized chains to entangle the Behemoth’s hind legs, while robots precisely fired missiles into its gaping maw, opened in fear.

The violent explosion tore the last Behemoth to shreds.

The Orc commander watched helplessly as five War Behemoths were destroyed within half an hour,

angrily clutching his battle-axe.

Just as he was about to order a full army assault, dozens of gaps suddenly opened in the human front line.

Two thousand robots pushed modified magic ballistas onto the battlefield.

Each ballista was observed by soldiers, with robots responsible for aiming.

“Southeast corner thirty degrees, wind speed level three, armor-piercing rounds ready!”

The robots precisely adjusted their firing angles.

Fifty ballistas fired simultaneously, and magic projectiles exploded into blue fireballs among the Orc vanguard.

“Left flank encirclement complete!”

The synthetic voice of the robot commander came from the air.

Fifty thousand soldiers formed a dense shield wall and advanced steadily, followed by ten thousand robots ready to fire at any moment.

Just as the Orc warriors were about to charge, the ground beneath their feet suddenly cracked open, and countless yellow tentacles burst forth, coiling around their ankles.

This was the human Mage Corps’ Hell’s Prison.

The fallen Orcs had no time to struggle before they were precisely shot and killed by the robots.

“Spirit Eye, execute final protocol.”

Brian issued the order in the command room.

On the battlefield, all robots simultaneously opened the small magic missile launch bays on their backs.

Spirit Eye’s command simultaneously spread across the battlefield:

“Three rounds of bombardment! Three, two, one, fire!”

Countless magic missiles trailing flames rose into the sky, falling like a torrential rain on the densest areas of the Orc army.

The explosions merged into a single blaze,

Orcs directly hit were instantly vaporized.

The surviving Orcs began to flee,

but the robots had already laid an inescapable net.

Anyone attempting to break through would be precisely shot down the next second.

“Clear the battlefield, medical units deploy.”

As Spirit Eye’s command was issued,

a thousand robots pushed healing pods emitting a soft white light onto the battlefield, beginning to treat the wounded soldiers.

This was a primary healing device developed by Brian; although it couldn't regenerate severed limbs yet, it was sufficient to stabilize injuries.

Some soldiers leaned wearily against the robots, some gently patting the acid-corroded marks on the robots’ shoulder armor.

As the sun set,

only sporadic flickers of fire remained on the battlefield.

Over two hundred thousand human soldiers and over twenty thousand robots worked together to clear the battlefield.

The conversations of the soldiers, occasional laughter, intertwined with the robots’ rhythmic electronic sounds, drifting towards the towering walls of Blizzard Fortress… In the Mage Tower’s command room,

Brian looked at the holographic projection; the red dots representing the Orc army had all disappeared.

“Looks like we’re stable again this time.”

He nodded with satisfaction.

Just then,

Adrian’s communication came through, his voice filled with unconcealed shock:

“Lord Brian, your combat system completely exceeds our imagination! Is this the true power of human-machine collaboration?”

“Commander, when wisdom and machinery are perfectly combined, any enemy will be vulnerable.”

Brian smiled slightly, then got to the point, “I think it’s time for the generals to experience it firsthand. Human-machine collaboration is not only a sharp weapon against the Orcs, but also the future direction of warfare.”

“Good!”

Adrian responded without hesitation, “I will immediately organize an observation group. This victory will change everyone’s perspective.”

Brian nodded, his gaze returning to the projection.

The smoke of battle had not yet dissipated, but victory was assured.

This was not just a victory in one battle, but an opportunity to showcase the future model of warfare to this world.

“Spirit Eye, prepare to receive guests.”

He instructed.

“Yes, Master!”

Spirit Eye’s voice was filled with excitement,

“I can’t wait to see their shocked expressions!”

Spirit Eye’s Main Clone quickly set up the reception area, projecting real-time battlefield footage and data into the air.

When the Military City observation group arrived,

the sight before them left them stunned—the human-machine collaborative army was efficiently clearing the battlefield, and the once invincible War Behemoths were now nothing more than scattered wreckage.

“Is this the true strength of human-machine collaboration?”

Clemence’s voice trembled slightly, his eyes fixed on the image of soldiers and robots cooperating seamlessly.

A young officer leaned closer to the projection, shaking his head in disbelief:

“It’s incredible! Robots can not only perfectly execute commands, but also actively adjust tactics, with efficiency far exceeding human commanders!”

The observation group members conversed in low voices; their previous doubts and caution gradually replaced by shock and admiration.

They understood that this victory not only severely damaged the Orc army but also heralded a complete revolution in warfare.

“Miss Spirit Eye,” Medivh finally stepped forward, his tone sincere,

“we hope to gain a deeper understanding of this combat system.”

In the command room,

Brian watched this scene, a faint smile on his face.

The plan had successfully taken its most crucial step!
