54: Imperial Inspector
After Brian finished thinking about the comparison of the combat power of the level 4 intelligent robot army.
He issued an order through Spirit Eye,
telling the robot army and the level 4 intelligent robots on the city wall to stop attacking,
and dispatched some robots to confirm whether the Hellfire Demon was truly dead.
At the same time, he instructed Spirit Eye to conduct a detailed analysis of the battle data, including the Hellfire Demon's defensive capabilities, attack methods, and the attack effectiveness of the robot army, in order to prepare for similar situations that might arise later.
Before long, the robots sent to confirm returned a message: the Hellfire Demon was indeed dead.
Brian nodded slightly. "It's good that he's dead; a dead demon is a good demon."
Then, he began to ponder the reason for this Hellfire Demon's appearance.
Was it because the seal had loosened over time, or was some other force manipulating him from behind?
If it was a loosened seal, did that mean other powerful sealed beings might awaken?
If other forces were manipulating him from behind, what was their objective?
Brian decided to wait until Spirit Eye finished analyzing the battle data before formulating his next plan based on the results.
When the Hellfire Demon broke through the seal,
in a room on the 18th floor of an 18-story demigod wizard tower within the inner city of Nanping City, the southern central city of the Linghe Mage Empire.
A young man, dressed in a magnificent purple mage robe with intricate golden runes embroidered on his chest, stood before a giant crystal ball.
Various magical lights flickered within the crystal ball, illuminating his profound face.
"Master, the southern division of the Imperial Monitoring Center has received a Level 6 incident that requires your attention," the Mage Tower's Spirit Eye said to the young man.
"Alright, bring it in!" the young man responded.
Thereupon, he perceived the powerful and evil magical fluctuations through the crystal ball, and his brows furrowed tightly.
"This aura... could it be a Hellfire Demon?" he murmured to himself.
"Spirit Eye, locate and project it."
He quickly instructed the Mage Tower's Spirit Eye.
Spirit Eye's ethereal and mechanical voice immediately resounded in the room:
"Locating and projecting, please wait."
As the words fell, the magical lights within the crystal ball began to flicker violently, and a series of images rapidly switched like flowing water.
Soon, the image settled on the sky above the sea at the southern border of Brian's territory, clearly showing the figure of the recently annihilated Hellfire Demon and the intense battle scene around him.
The young man looked at the projection, his eyes slightly narrowed:
"When did Hellfire Demons dare to come to our world? It seems I still need to go and investigate. However, one cannot be careless when dealing with these infamous beings, or if something goes wrong, the City Lord will give me trouble."
"Such a hassle. I knew I shouldn't have taken this job; it interferes with my pursuit of truth!"
"If it weren't for almost going bankrupt in the Boundary Sea because of those bugs, I wouldn't be an Inspector! Alas! No choice, who told this job to pay well! Besides, I only have to deal with Level 6 incidents. It's not bad."
The young man comforted himself slightly.
"Spirit Eye, activate the teleportation, targeting the sky above the sea in the image," the young man commanded.
"Teleportation array activating... Teleportation complete," Spirit Eye's voice echoed in the room.
As the young man issued the command, the entire demigod wizard tower instantly vanished from its original spot.
The next moment, the 18-story demigod wizard tower appeared above that sea area.
The demigod wizard tower floated in mid-air, and the young man's gaze, sharp as a torch, swept across the battlefield below.
At this point, the battle had ended, leaving only a chaotic sea surface and magical fluctuations that had not yet completely dissipated in the air.
The young man frowned slightly; he could feel the lingering evil aura in the air, which further confirmed that what had just appeared was a Hellfire Demon.
The Mage Tower slowly descended onto the sea surface, and the young man stepped out of the Mage Tower. The seawater beneath his feet automatically parted due to his magic, forming a pathway.
At this moment, Brian also saw the young man emerging from the suddenly appearing demigod wizard tower.
Brian eyed the uninvited guest warily, secretly pondering the other party's intentions.
The young man had a tall and straight figure, emitting a deep and mysterious magical aura, clearly a Mage of extraordinary strength.
The young man also noticed Brian's gaze.
He turned his head slightly to look at Brian,
met Brian's eyes, and then slowly walked towards Brian's direction.
While walking towards Brian, the young man suddenly sensed the mark of Phantom Moon on Brian.
Such marks were personally bestowed by Phantom Moon, signifying that the person was protected by Phantom Moon.
The young man was slightly surprised, his steps faltered for a moment, but then he quickly returned to normal and continued walking towards Brian.
He secretly wondered what connection this young man had with Phantom Moon? Why did he bear Phantom Moon's mark?
Walking up to Brian, the young man bowed slightly, performed a Mage's salute, and then spoke:
"Hello, I am Eric, the Level 6 Inspector of the southern region of the Linghe Mage Empire.
I just sensed the mark of Phantom Moon on you; may I ask what your relationship is with Phantom Moon?"
Brian's heart also tightened slightly upon hearing Eric's words.
He hadn't expected this suddenly appearing Inspector to be able to sense the mark on him, nor had he expected the other party to ask such a direct question.
He pondered for a moment, then slowly said, "Inspector Eric, I do have some connection with Phantom Moon, but the specific relationship, I am not at liberty to disclose at this time."
Eric did not show much dissatisfaction or surprise upon hearing Brian's reply.
He nodded slightly, indicating understanding, and then continued:
"Since you have a connection with Phantom Moon, I won't ask any more questions. However, a Hellfire Demon appeared here just now. I need to understand the specific situation; would you be kind enough to tell me?"
Brian heard Eric mention the Hellfire Demon and thought, 'As expected, he came for this matter.'
He knew the importance of the matter, so he recounted everything that had just happened to Eric in detail.
Eric listened to Brian's narration, nodded slightly, indicating that he understood the situation.
He pondered for a moment, then said, "I am the Inspector who came to handle this demon appearance incident. Later, I will survey and deal with the seal location and its surroundings."
At this point, Eric paused, then continued:
"However, before that, I would like to hear your insights. Do you have any thoughts or conjectures regarding the appearance of this Hellfire Demon?"
Brian, hearing Eric's question, thought for a while, then slowly began:
"I speculate that the appearance of this Hellfire Demon could be due to two reasons.
One is that the seal loosened due to the passage of time, allowing it to break through the seal;
the second is that there might be other forces manipulating him from behind, deliberately releasing this demon to probe or create chaos."
