23: Strange professional

After Gu Qinghan left with Zhang Jiawei and his companion, he found a clear path and set off towards District C.

After walking forward for a while, the surrounding zombies became somewhat dense, so the three of them stopped and waited for the skeletons to clear them out.

Zhang Jiawei watched the skeletons continuously killing the zombies around them, his awe evident in his eyes.

"Brother Li Qingshan, do you have any water? My girlfriend and I have been thirsty for a whole day."

He hesitated for a long time before cautiously voicing this request.

Gu Qinghan looked back at him, thought for a moment, and handed over a bottle of mineral water.

When he was interacting with this group earlier, he had told them his name was Li Qingshan.

It was somewhat suspicious of having a twisted sense of humor, but Gu Qinghan thought it was quite interesting.

Watching Zhang Jiawei and his girlfriend finish the bottle of water in just a few seconds, he thought for a moment and asked:

"Where in District C do you live?"

Zhang Jiawei shook the last drop of water from the bottle into his mouth and threw it away with a hint of regret before saying:

"Ah, we live in the small apartments, so it's convenient for both of us to attend classes."

To Gu Qinghan's pleasant surprise, the place where these two lived was actually his destination.

Gu Qinghan raised an eyebrow: "Living together?"

Zhang Jiawei chuckled, but Li Meng suddenly spoke up:

"I only occasionally go to his place to stay for a couple of days; we are not living together."

Gu Qinghan nodded. Whether these two were living together or not had nothing to do with him.

He only asked out of a pure instinct for gossip.

Zhang Jiawei's expression looked a bit awkward, but immediately after, he heard Gu Qinghan ask:

"Are all the small apartments over there occupied?"

"No, the rent for the small apartments is too expensive, so not many students are living there for the time being. There are still two and a half buildings that are empty."

"Very good."

Gu Qinghan smiled; it seemed he could move directly into one of them.

"Brother Li Qingshan, after this whole thing blows over, I will definitely thank you properly."

Zhang Jiawei's tone was very sincere, as if he believed this game would end soon.

In fact, as of now, this global game had only been going on for less than twenty-four hours.

Although many people had seen others die, deep down, they were still waiting for the country to rescue them.

Gu Qinghan did not think so; humanity had developed for countless years to reach where it was today.

Yet, a world like this could be changed in an instant by this game.

This kind of power was definitely not something human strength could contend with.

Gu Qinghan felt that even if humanity could restore order, it would definitely be completely different from the previous society.

Therefore, Gu Qinghan just smiled and didn't say anything.

At this moment, the skeletons in front had already cleared a path, and Gu Qinghan led the two of them to continue moving forward.

...

"Why is there so little food today? Did you steal some to eat?"

On the first floor of the District C cafeteria, a Male Student looked at the food he had received with dissatisfaction and glared at the cafeteria staff, questioning them.

The chef wearing an apron sighed, turned around, and took out several empty flour bags from the kitchen.

"Our cafeteria restocks ingredients every three days. Yesterday happened to be the last day, and now there isn't much food left in the entire cafeteria."

"If we don't ration it now, I estimate there won't be a single grain of rice left by tomorrow."

"How can we fight if we aren't full? Why don't you just stop feeding those who don't participate in the fighting?"

This Male Student looked furious and immediately pointed to a quiet Girl sitting in a corner.

"Aren't you all classmates? If they eat a little less, you all can eat a little more, right?"

The chef sighed. This Girl was considered the most unique among all the survivors in this cafeteria.

According to others, her name was Chen Yuting, and she had obtained a very strange Professional class.

However, this Professional class had absolutely no combat ability, not even basic enhancement of one's own physical fitness.

Furthermore, this Professional class didn't seem to be able to help others in combat either.

The people in the cafeteria had tried to break out or go looking for food, but they were all blocked back by the zombies outside.

Even though they had killed some zombies, even more people had died.

At the end of the day, they were all just a group of college students; facing such a sudden situation, it was already rare for them to maintain their composure in the first place.

The Male Student let out a cold laugh and threw his tray onto the table:

"Why should I eat one less bite so she can eat one more? She's not my girlfriend. In this special situation, people who don't fight shouldn't eat."

"I won't eat. Don't give this uncle a hard time."

The quiet Girl suddenly spoke up, her voice cold and clear, yet carrying a faint trace of arrogance.

The Male Student was choked up for a moment, then retorted:

"I hope you really won't eat, instead of secretly begging someone to save you a bite later."

"Okay."

Chen Yuting looked up at him, her cold, clear eyes devoid of any emotion.

The Male Student left with his tray, and the people behind him quickly received their shares as well.

As for Chen Yuting, she really just sat in the corner, motionless.

A few minutes later, a somewhat chubby Girl carried her tray over, sat down beside Chen Yuting, and said:

"Hey beauty, you should eat something. I saw that you only ate a little at noon."

Chen Yuting turned her head to look at this Girl and couldn't help but smile:

"Thank you, skipping a meal is fine."

"But we don't know how long we'll have to stay here, and you're so thin, you'll definitely get sick from hunger."

The chubby Girl pushed her tray toward Chen Yuting and pointed to the remaining half of the food inside, saying:

"You eat it. Don't worry, the parts I left are all clean."

Chen Yuting looked down at the tray, and her stomach immediately growled.

The chubby Girl shoved a pair of clean chopsticks into her hand and said:

"Eat up! I just love making friends with beautiful sisters. Girls should help each other out!"

"Thank you, then I... will eat..."

Chen Yuting was really hungry, but the food in the cafeteria had already been centralized and controlled by a group of Professionals.

She had no combat ability, so the food she received was very little.

There was actually one Professional who wanted her to date him so he would share some food with her.

However, with her naturally proud nature, how could she possibly agree to such a request?

She quickly ate all the food on the tray, not leaving behind even a single grain of rice.

Even though she ate quickly, her manner of eating was very graceful, making people sigh in admiration.

"Thank you. My name is Chen Yuting. What is your name?"

Chen Yuting placed the tray in front of her and asked the chubby Girl with gratitude on her face.

"My name is... Oh right, wait a second, let me go to the bathroom first, and I'll chat with you when I get back."

The chubby Girl seemed to have suddenly remembered something and ran straight towards the bathroom.

Chen Yuting was stunned for a moment, finding the other Girl's hurried figure somewhat amusing.

This chubby Girl was really very kind.

She returned the tray and sat back down, waiting for the chubby Girl to return.

However, after waiting for over ten minutes, she still hadn't seen the other Girl return.

She yawned, looked at the sky outside that had already darkened, and felt a bit puzzled:

"Strange, I'm so sleepy so early today."
