312: Goodbye, never to see you again.
The Witch looked a bit awkward, still wanting to explain something, but then she heard someone in the crowd suddenly realize, “Is Tommy a mole? I saw him talking to himself in an empty place late at night before.”
“Right, right, right, I encountered that too. I thought he was talking in his sleep.”
“That must be it then. He must have been discovered and then killed.”
Not many fools were left among those who had survived until now. Following Uncle Gap-tooth's clue, they quickly deduced the truth.
“Anyway… Tommy was just an accident. Let’s not create any rifts among ourselves…”
The Witch, hearing this, could only say with a lack of conviction.
Uncle Gap-tooth was the first to speak, with a sense of having seen through everything:
“Actually, this is normal. My tooth here was knocked out when my wife tried to kill me.
She merely wanted a piece of my equipment, forgetting our more than ten years of affection.
I know you don’t want us to suspect each other, but we’ve long been prepared.
At a time like this, anything can happen.
Living in the present is the most important thing. All I know is that in the most dangerous times, you all fought your way out with me.”
Behind him, many people began to speak, recounting their own experiences of betrayal.
The Witch suddenly realized that the relationships among them had grown much closer through this sharing.
When the voices gradually died down, the Witch shrugged her shoulders and said to everyone:
“Alright, it seems I worried too much.
It’s time to go back and celebrate our triumph! There’ll be wine and meat tonight!”
The crowd cheered, released two large buses, and drove in the direction they had come from.
The dark clouds over the Place of Blasphemy finally dispersed, and the toxins vanished, making the air feel much fresher… When Gu Qinghan opened his eyes again, he was already standing before his Class Mentor.
He looked back and saw an endless array of statues behind him.
“Not bad, we meet again so soon.
Let me guess, this time, you must be here to change professions, right?”
The Class Mentor smiled at Gu Qinghan, his tone filled with a newfound sense of relief.
Gu Qinghan nodded, thought for a moment, and asked:
“After I change professions, will you still be my Class Mentor?”
He remembered that the other party had said they would meet again.
But he wasn't sure if the ‘meet again’ the other party mentioned was just this one time.
The Class Mentor shook his head and said with a smile:
“My mission is to await the emergence of the last Necromancer, either to kill him or to help him change professions.”
Gu Qinghan’s expression changed upon hearing this, but he felt no killing intent from the other party.
He seemed to have thought of something and tentatively asked:
“If standing before you is a Necromancer corrupted by Demonic Power, you would kill him, right?”
The Class Mentor nodded: “Clever.”
Gu Qinghan breathed a sigh of relief and was about to ask something else when he heard the Class Mentor say:
“This is not the place to talk, follow me.”
The Class Mentor turned directly and placed his hand on the giant statue.
Gu Qinghan could clearly see that the statue was disappearing in a burning-like manner.
From top to bottom, it rapidly burned until it completely vanished.
What remained were seven colors of energy, among which were the six colors Gu Qinghan had seen on the door earlier.
The seventh color, Gu Qinghan was also familiar with.
The black-red exclusive to Demonic Power.
“Let your little fellow absorb this Demonic Power. Absolutely do not absorb the others, or your profession change will be ruined.”
Hearing the Class Mentor's words, Gu Qinghan immediately released the Source Worm.
The little fellow was originally clamoring to absorb the energy from Torres and the Undead Giant's corpses, but upon discovering there was also tasty energy here, it instantly became well-behaved.
Gu Qinghan held it beneath the Demonic Power, and then he saw the massive Demonic Power form a vortex.
The bottom of the vortex was connected to this Source Worm, which was no bigger than a finger.
“Be careful. The other six streams of energy are poison; eat them and you’ll die.”
Gu Qinghan sternly threatened the Source Worm, but he felt a sense of disdain transmitted from the little fellow.
It was as if it was saying to him: “Kid, I can even eat poison, why would I be afraid of this?”
But regardless, the Source Worm obediently absorbed only the Demonic Power.
Seeing the Source Worm, whose belly seemed to have swelled a bit, Gu Qinghan quickly put it away.
The Class Mentor nodded slightly, and with a subtle movement of his right hand, he guided the other six streams of energy to infuse into Gu Qinghan.
The six energies, each of a different color, twisted into a single rope and drilled into Gu Qinghan’s body upon contact.
As the last trace of energy entered his body, an ancient, grand door suddenly appeared before Gu Qinghan.
Gu Qinghan looked up, feeling a sense of familiarity.
“The door to the Necropolis!”
He looked at the Class Mentor in shock, who made a gesturing motion for him to enter.
Gu Qinghan swallowed hard and slowly walked forward.
This time, he easily pushed open the ancient, weathered door, which was countless times taller than him.
Previously, this door had only opened a crack, but now it seemed to be welcoming him.
Gu Qinghan glanced back at the Class Mentor, who nodded gently, signaling him to go in.
After Gu Qinghan walked in, the Class Mentor also raised his foot and walked towards the door.
However, just as he was about to enter the door, he suddenly turned around.
At this moment, the statues seemed to have turned towards this side again, staring intently at the door.
“Farewell, everyone.
Oh no, perhaps we will never see each other again.”
He nodded gently towards the location of the statues, then turned around like a victor.
After his figure vanished into the door of the Necropolis, the door slowly faded and disappeared.
In this space, everything seemed to be unchanged from before.
Except for one less statue of a Necromancer and one gloomy-looking Class Mentor.
Perhaps this meant that the profession of Necromancer would completely disappear.
“What now? The Demonic Power has been purified.”
Suddenly, a somewhat authoritative voice echoed in this space.
A man in a white robe appeared beneath a statue; the voice had clearly come from him.
“Few people could distance themselves from what happened back then. Are you all going to continue playing dead?”
Apparently feeling no response, the man's voice sounded again, but this time it carried a hint of anger.
After a long pause, a pleasant female voice spoke:
“What can we do? We can’t just directly kill that boy.”
A graceful figure appeared beneath the statue next to the man, her slender form vaguely visible beneath thin gauze.
Soon, another sound, like the striking of iron, emanated, and a muscular man appeared beneath a statue:
“I was not involved in what happened back then; that is your concern.”
He said only that much before disappearing again, seemingly disdainful of associating with these people.
However, after he disappeared, many more figures appeared.
These people all looked towards the original location of the Necromancer statue, their eyes revealing deep concern.
“According to the rules, we cannot directly kill him, but we can have our Professionals do it.”
“That violates the rules. You will definitely die faster than that boy, and he will be unharmed.”
“What if we increase the difficulty of the game? For example, by merging other worlds that are currently in play.
Or, accelerate the game’s progress?”
Suddenly, this voice emerged, causing a moment of silence in the situation.
After a long while, discussions resumed here.
“Let’s plan for the long term. If there’s no other choice, we’ll have to do that.”
“But if we do that, according to the rules, we’ll have to release some of the hidden features we have.”
“Otherwise, what do you want to do? Do you want to bear Their wrath?”
Another silence fell, and everyone's eyes showed a deep reverence.
Them…
