401: People at sea
Gu Qinghan felt it was increasingly possible the more he thought about it, especially since all the characteristics matched up.
Formic acid is a biological defense mechanism widely present in insects, and its effects vary greatly.
If this weapon were strengthened several times over, or even more, and then integrated with Dragon Power, it wouldn't be impossible to cause such severe wounds.
No doubt, these Dragon Ants were dominated by Dragon Power, and had even developed integrated methods of attack.
"Toxin... Dragon Power..."
Gu Qinghan recalled what Gu Qingyuan had just said, pondering silently.
A few minutes later, Gu Qingyuan had treated all the injured people and given each one a green honeydew.
"One for each person, eat it now."
This honeydew was produced from the Mutated Ancient Tree life energy stored inside his body, and using it at this moment couldn't have been more appropriate.
After eating the honeydew, the faces of those people visibly brightened, and the pain in their brows dissipated considerably.
At this, everyone looked at Gu Qingyuan with awe.
Although no one introduced him, seeing that he looked almost exactly like Gu Qinghan, wasn't the truth right in front of them?
Although their boss looked to be only in his early twenties, that was completely irrelevant now.
This child looked about ten years old, so didn't that mean their boss and the recently rescued madam were... As expected of the boss, truly daring!
Gu Qinghan didn't know what this group was thinking; he just felt that their gazes seemed a little strange.
However, he didn't say much, simply assuming these people were impressed by Gu Qingyuan's methods.
Although they had Teleportation Scrolls, with so many people, using them would result in an astonishing consumption of resources.
After counting the people, the current number of Crow King clones should be just enough to take everyone away.
He was no longer in the state where he only had himself to worry about; he needed to start thinking about careful planning and budgeting.
Thus, with a wave of his hand, he instructed everyone to form small teams and board the Crow King clones, then flew off in the general direction of Whale Fall City...
Whale Fall City. At this moment, Whale Fall City had taken initial shape, looking like a prosperous small town from peacetime.
Although there were no magnificent buildings, the clean and tidy streets and the well-arranged houses made the place seem like a paradise.
Near the seaward gate of Whale Fall City, a specialized watchtower had been erected.
It was said that the watchtower was meant to observe the activity in the ocean, but even after all this time, the sea remained calm.
On this watchtower, Piao Jun and Luo Mu were lying on deck chairs, gazing distractedly at the distant sea.
Suddenly, Piao Jun stretched, yawned widely, and said:
"Where did your brother run off to? I designed and built Whale Fall City, and you handled the surrounding dangers.
But he? He only came back once during this whole period, and then vanished again immediately."
His voice was filled with deep resentment, but even more so, worry.
Luo Mu glanced at him from the side and chuckled:
"I think you're quite happy, especially when people call you Vice City Lord."
"Nonsense! If no one even called me Vice City Lord, do you believe I'd run away overnight?"
Piao Jun stood up somewhat frantically, stretched his body, and continued:
"Let's go. Today is another calm day.
It seems there are signs of Dragonized creatures appearing again in the north. Quite a few people are injured; let's go take a look later."
Luo Mu nodded and stood up from the deck chair as well.
But just then, his gaze swept across the sea surface, and he seemed to see something briefly surface from the water and then quickly disappear.
His expression immediately changed, and he stared intently in that direction.
But this time, he found nothing.
It was as if what he had just seen was merely a small wave.
"What's wrong?" Piao Jun turned and asked.
"Nothing, I've been lying down too long and my eyes are playing tricks on me."
Luo Mu smiled, rubbed his eyes, and was the first to climb down from the watchtower.
Piao Jun followed closely, and after landing, the two quickly walked toward the inner gate.
Meanwhile, in the sea, exactly where Luo Mu had been looking, a figure poked his head out of the water.
This was a slightly thin man who looked rather sneaky.
And if anyone were here, they would see that this fellow actually had sea-blue scales on his body!
Those scales were definitely not stuck on; they had grown out of his flesh.
And beneath him, there was a sea fish covered in hard scales.
A wave rose and then slowly fell, revealing more similar figures.
They shared common characteristics and all used a certain type of Dragonized marine creature as a mount.
The leader of the group was mounted on a terrifying creature with a mouth full of sharp teeth.
From some features, it was not difficult to tell that this appeared to be a Dragonized Great White Shark!
The leader looked at Whale Fall City in the distance and said to the people behind him:
"It seems we were mostly right. These two people observe this area until noon every day, and then leave to find someone to replace them.
And during the time when night falls, this watchtower is unmanned for about ten minutes.
Although we can now live in the ocean, those terrifying deep-sea overlords do not welcome us.
Therefore, tonight is our chance to attack!"
The people behind him immediately agreed, their voices carried by the waves and gradually submerged beneath the sea.
At this moment, a man riding a ferocious Dragonized sea fish approached the leader and cautiously asked:
"Mr. Hirakawa Ichiro, are we going to abandon the ocean from now on?
After all, we have a bit of a home-field advantage while we are in the sea."
The man named Hirakawa Ichiro glanced calmly at the speaker, then shook his head:
"No, we just need to secure a safe place as a retreat.
Other coastal areas have already been destroyed, and this is the most suitable location we have found.
You must know that plundering is much simpler than building a Gathering Place.
With this place as our base, we will have a safe environment to increase our strength.
Eventually, those ocean overlords will gradually become our mounts, and then we will go find the guy who killed dozens of our comrades and take revenge!"
Hearing his plan, the man riding the Dragonized sea fish was somewhat pleased.
But soon, he heard the other man speak again:
"But have you forgotten something? I once said not to call me by my original name.
Hirakawa Ichiro was my name as a human, but now my name is White Shark.
We now possess the bloodline of Dragons; we are no longer lowly human bloodlines.
By calling me that, are you perhaps still hoping to become human again someday?"
"My apologies! I did not mean that."
When the man heard this, he immediately lowered his head to apologize, but then he saw a gaping maw biting down toward him.
The surrounding seawater instantly turned extremely crimson, as the Dragonized shark beneath White Shark tore the man and his mount directly into shreds.
Yet, even so, the people behind him showed no reaction whatsoever.
White Shark turned to look at these people, revealing a smile as he said:
"Remember, we are no longer lowly humans.
We possess the bloodline of Dragons; we are now noble Dragonmen!"
"Understood!"
The crowd behind him cheered loudly, and after a wave passed, these people vanished into the sea once more.
