189: I am a good citizen

“Li Wei, a real estate mogul for five hundred years, transforming from a small fake flower vendor to a real estate magnate who shocked the entire Blue Star, is truly a talent,” Lin Ye praised.

Li Wei breathed a sigh of relief; it seemed it wasn't a bad thing.

“Thank you for your concern, Chief. Everything I do is to ensure the people have a home and to serve the people.”

Lin Ye nodded.

“Higgins, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between humans and the Dwarf Race, for a thousand years, he has diligently dedicated himself to the cause of diplomacy. He is truly a talent,” Lin Ye looked towards Higgins.

With Li Wei going first, Higgins was no longer afraid and laughed, “Our Dwarf Race and humans are closely connected, building a shared destiny. This is an unchangeable policy for ten thousand years.”

Lin Ye nodded.

“But why is the accident rate of Li Wei’s company so high? Three hundred thousand workers have died in five hundred years, and hundreds of millions of families who bought houses have been ruined.”

“And Higgins, you secretly incited various Dwarf Races to declare independence, propagated the theory of humans as the great enemy, and advocated Dwarf Race Supremacy Imperialism.”

Lin Ye’s expression darkened, and a terrifying aura emanated.

Both men were sweating profusely, but they still held onto a sliver of hope.

“You're wrong, Chief! My Hengshui Group has always been engaged in dangerous road and bridge construction, so a high accident rate is quite reasonable, isn't it? As for those who went bankrupt buying houses, what does that have to do with me? They got addicted to speculating on housing; the fault is not mine,” Li Wei explained.

“I’m also wronged! What you call advocating for independence was to appease the various factions within the Dwarf Kingdom, to give them a bit of hope so they wouldn't harbor harmful thoughts against the Dwarf Kingdom. As for the theory of humans as the great enemy, that was an attack by political rivals! For a thousand years, I, Higgins, have always interacted with humans with a friendly attitude, and my achievements are obvious to all. As for Dwarf Race Supremacy Imperialism, that was a lie I had to tell to cater to the leaders' preferences. I, Higgins, am a man of integrity, with red ideology flowing in my veins!”

Higgins's acting was even more superb. Seeing this, Lin Ye even wondered if he had wronged a good person.

But to verify it was too simple.

The reason why Demon Cultists could hide normally was that they were still composed of their original race, including most of their abilities and all of their physical Star Power and Soul.

Only those few demonic abilities, like horsehair worms, controlled their brains, hidden deep within, only erupting when needed.

“Whether it’s true or false, let me verify it,” Lin Ye extended his hand, and a surge of Star Force entered their bodies.

The disguise of the Demon Cultists was so good that even Star Eyes couldn't detect it. In the Star Eyes' vision, they were also law-abiding citizens.

But as soon as this Star Force emerged, both began to tremble violently, their entire stress response mechanisms pushed to the extreme.

Ultimately, Higgins erupted with demonic energy and began to demonize.

“Hmph, as expected,” Lin Ye had always suspected Higgins the most.

As for Li Wei, he truly hadn't expected that this guy really hadn't colluded with the Demon God Cult.

It seemed he was just purely bad, purely exploitative, purely a capitalist.

However, Li Wei would be dealt with later; the most urgent matter was Higgins.

Too many people were connected to Higgins, most of them politicians.

Higgins was not a marginalized figure like Amanda but a true titan, involved in diplomacy, and too many people were linked to him.

However, given his important position, he was likely a big fish.

After detaining the two, Lin Ye, under the pretext of discussing the common interests of the three races, gathered all the important figures from the three races.

“Teacher, what are you doing?” Alice secretly inquired. She was already very intelligent, excelled at reading expressions, and had been queen for so long, so she vaguely sensed something unusual.

The reason she wasn't as successful as Rui Jin was that the Elf Race found it too difficult to develop, with low birth rates, small populations, and everyone being a master of slacking off, a goddess of lying flat, making development naturally difficult.

However, it was also their lifestyle that made their achievements in runes so outstanding, as runes were, after all, the evolution of natural laws.

“Just cooperate later,” Lin Ye said.

“Okay,” Alice left and then secretly notified Rui Jin.

The thick-skinned Rui Jin didn't understand what was happening, but he readily agreed to cooperate.

After all the politicians arrived, Lin Ye activated his domain, locking down everyone's movements.

The politicians were terrified, even those from the human side were uneasy.

“I am now going to verify those who are suspected to prove whether they are Demon God Cult spies,” Lin Ye said.

Countless streams of Star Force entered the bodies of the politicians connected to Higgins.

This connection had to be very close.

For example, casual acquaintances had shallow fate line connections, but if they worked together on something or had spiritual or deep conversations, their fate lines would be very thick, indicating a deep connection.

With so many politicians, confinement was already very uncomfortable for them, let alone having Star Force injected into them. So Lin Ye only chose politicians who had deep connections with Higgins.

Among the forty-five politicians who had Star Force injected, eighteen activated their emergency transformations.

Everyone present looked in surprise at the demonized politicians. Were there really so many Demon God Cult spies in the high ranks?

Rui Jin’s face was extremely grim. Twelve of the demonized individuals were politicians from his Dwarf Race, and only six were human.

It made him feel ashamed; he, the King of the Dwarf Kingdom, a lord of revival, yet so many spies had infiltrated his inner circle.

And it was in front of his most respected teacher.

Damn it.

“A day ago, I noticed Higgins’s anomaly. This renowned diplomat turned out to be a Demon Cultist; how ironic. I gathered everyone here today to verify identities. Now that the checks related to Higgins are complete, the rest of you may voluntarily come forward for verification,” Lin Ye released the restraints on his allies, including the dozens of politicians who had been checked and found to be fine.

However, being fine didn't mean they were innocent; they would still be investigated and monitored later.

After all, there were cases of people who didn't want to become Demon Cultists but still wanted to profit, becoming traitors.

And some might not have an empty slot for an ability, or hadn't absorbed one, but their allegiance leaned towards the Demon God Cult.

Although he said it was voluntary, no one wanted to avoid being checked. This was a time to choose sides, and at such times, one must always be firm, or face reckoning later.

Countless politicians meticulously underwent the inspection. Even Rui Jin and Alice were no exception; after all, it was Lin Ye, and they took the lead in supporting him.

After the inspection, Lin Ye breathed a sigh of relief. The other politicians were all clean. It seemed Higgins was probably the Demon God Cult’s most important chess piece.

He hadn't expected to discover such a big fish by accident.

Mainly, it was because Higgins was too active.

But honestly, if he hadn't been so active, his performance wouldn't have been so good, bringing so many politicians to the Demon God Cult and contributing so much power.
