46: Competition Format Adjustment

Lin Ye challenged every member of the first team, except for the support, Wang Mengmeng.

His teammates were all quite strong. Bai Zhiqing, the vice-captain and one of the two mages, was even more terrifying. Lin Ye was blown by her storm and couldn't move at all. Even forcing out the Space Control's teleportation didn't allow him to turn the tide.

Without surprise, he lost both challenges against the two mages, and quite miserably, but he won against Qian Er.

He also got a clear picture of his teammates' strength: Chen Ou > Bai Zhiqing > Zhao Wenlong > Lin Ye > Qian Er > Zhao Kun.

For Lin Ye, Qian Er was actually less threatening than Zhao Kun, but Zhao Kun was severely countered by Qian Er, so he ranked last.

He also understood his own strength. If Six-Level had ranks, then he should belong to the mid-Six-Level combat power tier.

He was also the kind of relatively well-rounded mid-Six-Level.

His teammates were basically all top-tier Six-Level.

This result did not surprise him. According to his own estimation, reaching Five-Level should put him on par with his teammates' strength.

His advantage was his ability proficiency. He had a slight advantage in skill proficiency, but not much, as his teammates were all geniuses too.

Take Chen Ou, for example. He was 32 years old and had been practicing Golden-Level skills for almost ten years, most of which he had basically mastered.

There were no competitions yet; it was the off-season, and everyone was training on their own.

Except for Lin Ye, no one else had professional teachers to guide them. After all, they were not much worse than some weaker Seven-Level, and only Nine-Level could probably teach them. But there were too few Nine-Level individuals; how could they guide them for a bit of money?

Jiang Xiaoyu couldn't guide Lin Ye now. Lin Ye's skills were mostly mastered, while his were greatly mastered. He could teach experience, but he couldn't see major problems, so the guidance had limited effect.

However, Lin Ye had his grandmaster! He could ask his grandmaster if he didn't understand something. Although it wasn't as good as in-person guidance, it was 80% as effective.

"The power of technology is truly amazing," Lin Ye said, reluctantly ending his call with his grandmaster.

"Training efficiency isn't as good as before, but fortunately, I have the Dreamland Arena."

Dreamland Arena was the name Lin Ye gave to the combat function he awakened after reaching a masterful level in dreams.

He didn't pay much attention to this skill at first, as it only simulated opponents fighting him, but the more he used it, the more he realized its power.

He could create virtual opponents in his dreams based on the data of familiar people around him and fight them. The battles were very realistic, though not as good as real combat.

But the problem was that dreams had almost no consumption! If he got injured, with a thought, he would fully recover.

If he got tired of fighting, he could switch, and the opponent would change.

If he wanted to be ganged up on, then Chen Ou, Zhao Wenlong, and Bai Zhiqing would all beat him up.

His combat level improved by leaps and bounds with this assistance. While training, Lin Ye's wristband vibrated.

"Oh? Fish Brother said there was news to announce. All members of the first team are to assemble."

Lin Ye followed his teammates to the conference room and took their seats. Jiang Xiaoyu had already prepared a PPT, and there was also tactical instructor Ai Weng.

"Today, I called everyone here because the competition is approaching. I'm here to talk about the changes to the competition format," Jiang Xiaoyu said, opening the projector and beginning his explanation.

Everyone nodded. Changes to the competition format were very important, and there were usually big and small changes every year. If the format changes were favorable, it would greatly improve the team's strength.

For example, if the proportion of team battles was increased, then Prosperity would directly soar.

"This change is quite significant, especially highlighting the importance of the mission mode," Jiang Xiaoyu said, his head aching.

"What? Wouldn't that be unfavorable for our Prosperity?"

"Bad news, we always score poorly in mission mode."

"It's over, it's over."

Lin Ye also had a headache. Prosperity was too unlucky.

Jiang Xiaoyu explained helplessly: "Due to the increasing shift towards mission mode in battles for Star Realm resources against alien races, the format of all human major competitions has changed."

"Is this a premonition of War?"

"It's probably due to increased conflict with the alien races."

......

Everyone's faces were solemn.

Alien races was the collective term Earthlings used for other races in the universe.

When humanity entered the interstellar era, they initially suffered many setbacks until their own pillar-like ability users matured one by one. Only then did the alien races acknowledge humanity's strength.

Especially with the appearance of the legendary figure, Yang Hongyu, the Shattering Star Fist, humanity completely established itself in the Galaxy.

Shattering Star Fist, the most advanced profession humanity had currently developed, was a super pay-to-win profession.

All abilities were Star Level. The profession's development involved continuously devouring Star Cores, refining Star Power, and tempering the physical body. Their physical quality was terrifyingly immense, capable of shattering stars with a single punch.

But what were Star Cores?

Ordinary people found it hard to understand, but Lin Ye had carefully researched them.

Star Cores were not the cores of stars, but rather super rare specialties of the Star Realm. It was said that to establish territory in the Star Realm, one needed the protection of Star Cores.

The appearance of such top-tier figures allowed humanity to firmly establish itself.

Had the alien races made a move again now? This was undeniably bad news.

No one liked War.

Although various races in the universe were relatively peaceful now due to contractual restraints, preventing arbitrary invasions.

But those who understood, understood that it was impossible to have complete harmony.

Even within Blue Star Alliance humanity, it was not a monolithic entity, and conflicts between nations occurred from time to time.

However, under the intervention of the Blue Star Alliance, it remained relatively stable.

"Recently in the Star Realm, our ally, the Mohe Clan, and the Eka Clan, a subordinate of the Three-Eyed Clan, have been at War. As the big brother, it's naturally difficult to stay out of it, so our human race and the Three-Eyed Clan also have many conflicts," Jiang Xiaoyu explained.

"Through the Universe Alliance's mediation, it hasn't escalated into a full-blown War, but small and large competitions are inevitable. Since this is not merely a competition for resources, but also a racial conflict, there will be a particularly large number of mission modes."

Everyone's heads ached.

Cosmic civilizations divided civilization levels into eighteen tiers, mainly based on the overall capabilities of ability users; the stronger they were, the higher the level.

Humanity was a Nine-Level civilization, with many subordinate races. The Mohe Clan was a relatively strong subordinate, reaching Six-Level civilization, but due to their racial talent being skewed, they could basically only develop water-based professions, so they were very specialized. They were only protected by their big brother from being exploited for their weakness.

The conflict between the Mohe Clan and the Eka Clan had a long history. The star system where the two races were located only had their two Life planets, and one specialized in water while the other specialized in using sand, leading to numerous conflicts in culture and customs.

Jiang Xiaoyu clarified the origin of the changes and began to explain the revised competition format.

The changes were significant. Team battles and confrontation battles went from accounting for 70% to 40%, while the major part was mission mode, which accounted for 60%, whereas previously it only accounted for 30%.

Lin Ye felt that this proportion was quite magical, very much resembling the proportion of his university exams.

Daily performance accounted for 20%, online learning platforms for 20%, and the exam for 60%.

Based on his experience at the time, it didn't matter if he didn't get full marks on daily performance or online learning platforms, but failing the exam was truly unacceptable. It seemed that this mission mode absolutely had to be conquered.

Their team wasn't strong in mission mode, so there were still many areas that needed improvement.
