399: King of Light

Lin Ye rushed non-stop to the location of the Light King (suspected) — the Luminous Star.

This place was hailed as a planet bathed in light.

The sun was high year-round, yet it was never stuffy, and a peculiar nocturnal rainfall mechanism prevented anything from withering.

Lin Ye arrived at a pedestrian street.

It was hard to imagine such a prosperous, peaceful, and happy city still existed in the universe, especially with the Star Realm invasion underway.

“No wonder the Light King likes it here.”

Lin Ye enjoyed the surrounding atmosphere, feeling that if he stayed too long, he might not want to leave.

“She’s over there.”

Garcia sent Lin Ye the real-time location, and Lin Ye knew clearly that the person ahead was likely his target.

It was an ordinary-looking young woman, leisurely enjoying a drink at a beverage shop.

But her undeniable approachable demeanor revealed her extraordinary nature.

“Never mind, I’ll get straight to the point. If that doesn’t work, I’ll just throw void stone at her.”

Lin Ye walked into the small shop.

“Welcome, what can I get for you?”

“I’ll have your signature drink,” Lin Ye said, his mind not at all on the beverage.

After ordering, he went to sit opposite the woman.

She looked up at him briefly, then continued to sip her drink, her other hand busy projecting a video onto her optical computer.

The video showed travel guides.

When his drink arrived, Lin Ye pondered how to start the conversation.

Lin Ye decided to use a more common approach first, “Light King, hello, my name is Lin Ye.”

The other party looked up, a bit surprised, “Are you calling me? I am not the Light King.”

Lin Ye knew it wouldn’t be that simple.

“I apologize for disturbing your Life, but my planet has been attacked by a Curse Demon and is in distress. The curse is extremely difficult to deal with and has already affected many of our warriors. They are now frozen, and without your help, they might all face Death.”

“What does that have to do with me? And I told you I’m not the person you’re looking for.” The other party was clearly getting impatient.

Lin Ye smiled bitterly to himself; indeed, it wasn’t that simple.

“As long as you are willing to help, we can offer generous compensation, just for your help in lifting the curse. How about one hundred void stone?” Lin Ye offered a reward that a typical five-star master would find hard to refuse.

As a hermit, the Light King also needed void stone for cultivation.

But to his surprise, the other party was unmoved, “You’re really annoying.”

With that, she vanished from her seat.

Lin Ye was not disappointed; instead, a glint of excitement flashed in his eyes.

“A Holy-attribute displacement skill, definitely Master-level. That’s right, it’s the Light King. Now her identity is confirmed; it’s just a matter of how to persuade her. One hundred void stone didn't move her, this is tough.”

Hermits were a group of people who were very difficult to fathom and understand.

Their material desires were extremely low, and they were almost unaffected by external temptations and disturbances.

Even if living conditions were harsh, they still adhered to their beliefs and values.

For hermits, material wealth was not the most important thing, but rather inner peace and spiritual satisfaction.

Under normal circumstances, hermits would also have some specific pursuits, such as lofty ambitions or a good reputation.

These pursuits might differ from worldly concepts, but they reflected their unique attitude towards Life and values.

To impress them, one might need to start with these things.

“What does the Light King seek?” Lin Ye pondered.

Judging by her behavior, she seemed to want to travel throughout the entire universe, even the Star Realm.

This reminded Lin Ye of a God, the Faith God Aurora.

She was also one who enjoyed traveling everywhere.

“Aurora likes to travel, but she still cares about the elven race. But the Light King is alone, that’s tough.”

“Hu, how do you think I should approach, no, persuade this Light King?” Lin Ye asked.

“Why ask me? A Great Wizard never asks for favors,” Hu said, spreading his hands, indicating helplessness.

“Who are you kidding?” Lin Ye didn’t believe him at all.

“Alright, a Great Wizard also has times when he needs others. However, a Great Wizard usually finds the person and says directly, 'Friend, please stay. I see your Destiny is rough, and your future is unclear.'

“At this point, the other party probably won’t believe it. Then, the Great Wizard reveals his Destiny Law cultivation, and the other party immediately begs the Great Wizard to teach him how to change his Destiny.”

Hu winked at Lin Ye.

“Once they beg the Great Wizard, what can’t the Great Wizard accomplish?”

Lin Ye was quite stunned.

This old, mischievous Great Wizard was also a great swindler.

“Are all those who cultivate Destiny so cunning?” Lin Ye asked.

“What cunning? This is called adaptability. And the other party doesn’t lose out, okay? If they have bad luck, their Destiny is changed. If they don’t have bad luck, the Great Wizard teaches them to seize opportunities,” Hu said.

Lin Ye was convinced; indeed, the older, the wiser.

“I was careless. I should have said, 'Miss, please stay' at the beginning.”

“It’s not too late now. You’re asking for someone else’s help, so why not use Destiny Law to calculate their needs first?”

Lin Ye calculated, but Lin Ye only calculated that his trip was not stable, but he did not calculate what exactly would happen.

Fortunately, just now, he had successfully intercepted a trace of the Light King's aura. Relying on this trace of aura, Lin Ye decided to use Destiny Law to make a calculation.

As Destiny Law operated, a mysterious and profound aura began to circulate around him. Lin Ye gazed from afar at the distant Destiny River, trying to intercept some key information from it.

"Persecution, disputes, War, near-Death…" Just as Lin Ye wanted to delve deeper, a strong backlash suddenly struck.

"Ugh!" Lin Ye let out a muffled groan, his Destiny was severely damaged, as if struck by a heavy blow.

"Lin Ye, are you alright? Is this Light King so difficult to calculate?" Hu asked, worriedly, from the side.

Lin Ye tried his best to adjust his aura; the tearing sensation from the damaged Destiny made him unbearable.

After a long while, the tearing sensation finally dissipated.

“This Light King is not simple; she seems to be an important character in this War,” Lin Ye thought, surprised.

Prophesying the Light King was extremely difficult, much harder than his prophecy of the Galaxy Lord.

“This is normal. Generally speaking, each world’s Law will give birth to a corresponding Heavenly Mandate. Perhaps this Light King is the Heavenly Mandate of your universe’s Holy path,” Hu explained.

Lin Ye nodded.

A Child of Destiny was not like his fake one; his was a pseudo-Destiny obtained by absorbing Destiny abilities.

And that Light King seemed to be a true Child of Destiny.

“But fortunately, my own Destiny is strong enough, and I still managed to calculate some things.”

Lin Ye smiled slightly.

“What?” Hu asked curiously.

“It concerns her Life. Perhaps, this is the bargaining chip.”

Lin Ye was confident of victory.

Even people with low material desires will have a desire to survive.

This is the instinct of Life.

As long as one wants to live, this need will exist.
