340: Taking guests out to sea
Yang Qi explained to several Anglers:
"There are 12 fishing spots on the boat; basically, we can set out with 10 people. We also have some fixed good fishing spots and will do our best to ensure everyone has a good harvest."
"We've decided to hold our first passenger sea trip promotion tomorrow. Any guests staying at the Tide Cottage guesthouse will receive a 20% discount on the fee for going out to sea with the boat tomorrow."
"Great, great, count us in for tomorrow! Boss, you must take us to find a good fishing spot!"
Unexpectedly, as soon as Yang Qi finished speaking, two people expressed their desire to participate.
"Alright, I'll head back in a bit and ask the other bosses if they want to go fishing at sea together. If there aren't enough people, I'll have to find some outsiders."
Yang Qi hadn't expected to get two customers right after making the plan, and his mood immediately brightened.
What surprised them even more was that when he went back and asked, there were actually about twenty people who wanted to go out to sea to broaden their horizons.
There was no other way; the opening shot had to be a success. Yang Qi made a temporary decision that the setting sail would also carry passengers out to sea tomorrow.
Considering that under normal circumstances, the wave chaser wouldn't go too far to fish, Yang Qi went to the fishing rod merchant who had sponsored the Oyster Raft Fishing Competition last time and bought over ten sets of fishing rods and gear for guests to rent.
In the early hours of the next day, after buying bait and crushed ice, Yang Qi and his father each piloted one of the two fishing boats, heading toward the sea against the rising sun.
The vast majority of these people had fished before or at least knew about it, and they were all very receptive to advice. Last night, they had bought sun-protective clothing, hats, masks, gloves, and other preparations in town.
Conversely, one dark-skinned Angler refused to listen and bought nothing except a hat. He even said that he never needed such things when fishing back in his hometown.
Well, good advice is lost on those determined to ruin themselves!
Seeing that this Angler wouldn't listen, Yang Qi didn't say much more. If he didn't suffer a bit, he probably wouldn't know how many eyes Lord Ma had!
Fishing at sea offers no shelter, and the UV rays reflected off the water are far more intense than those on land.
It would likely take less than a day to burn someone's skin, and it's extremely easy to get heatstroke.
As for heatstroke medicine and the like, quite a bit had been prepared on both boats. Even though Yang Qi had instructed those who had never been on a boat to take motion sickness medicine beforehand...
...before the boats had even been sailing for half an hour, someone was already seasick and vomiting!
"Don't stare at the surface of the sea. Look straight ahead into the distance, or close your eyes and rest."
Yang Qi announced over the broadcast to the guests hanging out on the deck. The people on the flybridge were doing fine, sipping drinks and chatting.
"Holy crap, we haven't even reached the destination and they've already started chumming. What a waste!"
At this moment, Yang Qi saw a female guest leaning over the gunwale vomiting uncontrollably and couldn't help but complain.
Half an hour later, three people were already vomiting violently.
"Go ahead and vomit! Once you're done, you won't vomit anymore! Hehehe."
An hour later, Yang Qi saw a school of Sea Bass appear, so he directed the wave chaser to form a pincer movement with him to surround the school.
"Alright, bosses, start fishing! I wish you all continuous bites and an overflowing haul."
As soon as Yang Qi's voice faded from the broadcast, everyone began baiting their hooks and casting their lines.
Yang Qi looked at the three guests who had long since vomited a mess and were now weak all over, shaking his head helplessly:
"Vomiting now is just great! A total waste of chum."
"I've got a fish! Hahaha!"
Suddenly, a shout from an Angler came from the foredeck.
Yang Qi also hurried to set up his fishing rod, found a random empty spot, baited his hook, and cast his line.
"Hooked one!"
"Hahaha, me too!"
...From the fishing boat, the sounds of Anglers catching fish came continuously. To distinguish their catches, Yang Qi gave everyone a foam box.
He also hurried to start fishing, and his catch rate was noticeably much faster than the others.
One of them, who had just vomited so much that even his bile came up, had a pale face and walked with staggering steps, swaying as he arrived at a fishing spot, wanting to fish.
"Brother, do you want to rest a bit longer?"
Yang Qi said, a bit worried.
"I'm fine, I can hold on."
The man waved his hand; seeing everyone else catching fish, he was truly itching to join in and could only grit his teeth and endure.
Unexpectedly, he actually caught two Sea Bass weighing six or seven catties. He instantly forgot about his seasickness, and his complexion improved significantly.
An hour later, the school of Sea Bass dispersed. Yang Qi led the wave chaser to the vicinity of a reef island and discovered a school of Gold Drum Fish.
He instructed the Anglers that when fishing for sea fish, they must wear gloves because many sea fish have toxic fins. They had to be very careful when removing the fish; if they got stung, they would really suffer.
This time, Yang Qi was the first to catch a fish. He immediately told everyone that this fish's fins were poisonous and to be careful.
These were all Gold Drum Fish under half a catty. If it had been Yang Qi alone in the past, he wouldn't even have cast his line.
Why? He looked down on them!
However, things were different now. Taking guests out to sea for fishing was all about quantity and satisfaction. Regardless of whether the fish were valuable, as long as there were many of them and the guests enjoyed fishing, that was enough.
Thus, this school of Gold Drum Fish allowed all the guests to experience the joy of continuous bites from sea fish.
Even the female guest who had been vomiting until she was weak earlier managed to pull in quite a few catches.
They fished until noon, and the guests on both fishing boats had continuous bites.
When sea fish are in schools, there's really no fishing skill required at all; anyone with hands can do it!
Since the fishing boats didn't provide meals, everyone had prepared self-heating hot pots or self-heating rice.
They could also use the boat's kitchen, but basically no one spent time cooking; they all just ate bread or pastries to stave off hunger.
After all, how could eating be as important as fishing!
Yang Qi didn't mind any of that and went ahead with making his lunch as usual.
A steamed Sea Bass, a portion of braised Gold Drum Fish, and a stir-fried vegetable dish. For one person, it was just about enough.
Just as Yang Qi was enjoying his meal, he suddenly heard a cry of pain: "Ouch!"
He quickly put down his chopsticks and ran to where the sound came from. It turned out that the dark-skinned Angler who hadn't listened and hadn't used sun protection had accidentally been stung on the finger by the poisonous fin of a Gold Drum Fish.
His finger swelled up rapidly, his face turned pale, and large beads of sweat kept dripping down.
Yang Qi immediately found some antidote from the boat's medical kit and applied it to the Angler.
"That's what you get for not listening. Now you know how serious it is."
Yang Qi said helplessly. The Angler looked regretful and could only obediently follow instructions to treat the wound.
In the afternoon, the sun was scorching, the school of fish slowly dispersed, and the bites finally stopped.
Under Yang Qi's lead, the two fishing boats headed back, and on the way, they encountered an excellent spot for catching Sea Bream.
