394: Angry Dad

In the middle of the night at the Sea View Villa's small pier, it was pitch black, with not a soul in sight.

Yang Qi and Bai Xue began packing the treasures according to the plan they had discussed beforehand.

Yang Qi took out several snakeskin bags that he brought every time he went out to sea. Originally, they were meant for collecting trash found at sea.

Now, he brought them into the Rest Cabin and began pouring the gemstones and pearls into the bags with a "shua shua shua" sound. What had originally filled five boxes ended up filling only half a snakeskin bag.

The other five boxes of ambergris were poured together and packed into another snakeskin bag.

It was simple and crude, but highly efficient!

Bai Xue stayed on the boat to keep watch while Yang Qi pushed a small cart, carrying the two snakeskin bags, and hurried home.

He placed the two bags in a corner of the living room, then turned to the utility room to grab several blankets and empty bags, stuffing them into two large fishing boxes.

He loaded them onto the cart and pushed it out the door again.

Just then, he saw his mother, Zheng Jin, driving up and stopping at his front door. Yang Qi turned his head and saw his father sitting in the passenger seat.

"Hey! Dad, Mom, what are you doing here? I said I wouldn't be home until eleven or twelve; you didn't have to wait for me."

Actually, around six or seven in the evening, his mother had already called him.

Yang Qi had told them there weren't many fish this time and he'd be home around eleven or twelve. Who would have thought his parents would still rush over so late just to see their returning son.

"You brat, no matter how late you get back, we have to come and see you. Since it's so late, we can just make you something to eat."

His mother, Zheng Jin, scolded him with a smile.

"Xiaoxue is still at the pier, right? Then your dad and I will head down first. You take your time coming over."

With that, his mother stepped on the gas, overtaking Yang Qi and driving toward the small pier.

By the time Yang Qi arrived again, he found his parents had already boarded the boat. They likely went up to help, worried their daughter-in-law would get exhausted working alone on the boat.

"Hehehe, I wonder what kind of expressions Dad and Mom will have when they see so many treasures?"

Yang Qi chuckled to himself.

Sure enough, as soon as he stepped onto the boat, his father heard the commotion and came out. He grabbed Yang Qi's hand and asked:

"Xiao Qi, is what Xiaoxue said true? So many treasures... your luck is just too heaven-defying."

Yang Qi didn't know what Bai Xue had told his parents, so he could only nod and answer vaguely:

"Um, yes, Dad. Let's go inside first!"

The two returned to the Cockpit, just in time to see Bai Xue and his mother pulling a box of gold bricks from under the bed.

"My goodness! So many gold bricks!"

His mother gasped, covering her mouth. Her voice was intentionally lowered, the complete opposite of her usual loud voice.

"Mom, there are four more boxes underneath."

Bai Xue said, then glanced at Yang Qi.

"There are ten more boxes in the Freezer Hold, but my husband says we have to hand them over to the state. So these are the only ones that are ours."

Hearing Bai Xue tattle on him, Yang Qi rolled his eyes repeatedly. It seemed that even though Bai Xue had agreed to his decision at the time, she was still incredibly reluctant in her heart.

"This... this... this, you... you..."

His mother's mouth hung open as she stared fixedly at the gold bricks, not knowing what to say for a moment.

His father, Yang Limin, looked at the gold bricks and then at Yang Qi as if he were looking at an idiot.

"Mom, Dad, it's a long story. Let's pack them up and move them home first. We don't want any trouble during the night!"

Yang Qi reminded everyone.

"Fine, but since it's a long story, make it short. Tell us while we pack."

Yang Limin picked up a gold brick, weighed it, and said:

"This one piece is about twenty pounds. How many pieces are in a box?"

"Dad, twelve pieces per box!"

Bai Xue answered quickly.

"Twelve pieces a box, that's twenty-four or twenty-five pounds... ten boxes, that's over two hundred and forty pounds of gold! You damn unfilial son..."

"Speak, tell us now!"

Yang Limin's eyes were red as he cursed in a low voice.

Bai Xue stuck her tongue out and hurriedly joined Zheng Jin in opening a box of raw jadeite stones.

Yang Qi helplessly began to explain:

"Dad, don't be in a rush, listen to me..."

So Yang Qi quickly skipped over the salvage process and only mentioned that they later discovered a small box of 'Highly Enriched Uranium-235'.

He explained the function and danger of this material, and that it could only be properly handled by handing it over to the state.

Since they were handing things over, they couldn't just hand over that small box; they had to include some other things, including those ores that weren't of much use to individuals.

Only after hearing this did Yang Limin's anger gradually subside. He only said one thing:

"We'll talk later. Let's move these things first."

"Okay."

Yang Qi nodded.

"Mom, these should be raw jadeite stones. If a top-grade jadeite is carved out, a single piece like this could be worth several million or even more!"

Bai Xue said as she packed the raw jadeite stones into the snakeskin bag Yang Qi had brought.

As soon as the words left her mouth, Zheng Jin's hand visibly trembled.

"By the way, Dad, don't you know a lot about wood? Help me see what kind of wood these boxes are made of."

Yang Qi suddenly remembered that his father knew woodworking.

"Hmm, let me see."

The outside of the box no longer looked like its original self, so his father lifted a lid and looked from the inside.

"This is Teak. It has very high density and excellent waterproof properties!"

Yang Qi quickly flattered his father:

"My dad is amazing, identifying the material of the box at a glance. But are the others also Teak?"

"Are there different materials? Let me check."

His father checked the five or six emptied boxes again.

"Oh! These four are quite impressive. They are Small-leaf Red Sandalwood."

"Then do they have any value?"

"Of course. Looking at the thickness of these planks, even after planing off the surface rot, there's enough to turn beads for bracelets."

Yang Limin said decisively.

"What about the others that look like Teak?"

Yang Qi continued to ask.

"Those can be chopped up for firewood!"

"Uh... okay then!"

While they were talking, Bai Xue and his mother had already packed the eight boxes of raw jadeite stones into snakeskin bags.

The two then began packing the eight boxes of porcelain, wrapping them all tightly in the blankets Yang Qi had brought and placing them into the fishing boxes.

Yang Qi and his father moved the snakeskin bags filled with raw stones onto the cart. Once they were tied down, they pushed them toward the house.

In the living room of the Sea View Villa, Yang Limin pointed to the two snakeskin bags in the corner and asked:

"Are those the ambergris and gemstones you brought back just now?"

"Yes, Dad. Let me show you!"

"Look later, move things first!"

Yang Limin had never seen ambergris before either. To be honest, he was quite curious, but now wasn't the time to admire treasures. The priority was to get everything from the boat back home as quickly as possible.

The father and son dumped the raw jadeite stones onto the floor and returned to the setting sail with the empty bags.

Next, the two of them made two trips to bring back the four boxes of gold bricks, wrapped securely in tarpaulin.
