80: I want them all
“The Mud Eel and Three-spined swimming crab from yesterday were delivered by Yang Qi!”
“Oh~! Did something happen to him?”
“No! Dad, he caught about three hundred catties of Mud Eel last night. He’s going to send some to me. He just called me. He should be arriving at the city dock soon.”
Zhang Jun explained.
“Oh, you mean he caught about three hundred catties of Mud Eel in one night! Is he that capable? That’s good stuff! How about this! We’ll take all of it, you give him a good price! Forget it! You pick me up, I’ll go take a look too.”
Chairman Zhang waved his arm, no longer practicing Tai Chi.
About ten minutes later, Zhang Jun’s car arrived, and he respectfully led the two old men into the car.
In the car, Zhang Jun briefly recounted the story of his acquaintance with Yang Qi.
The two old men exchanged glances after hearing it, and finally Chairman Zhang made the decisive statement:
“It seems Yang Qi is a person of great fortune; by being with him, you can also catch a bit of that fortune.”
“Look at yourself, you used to go fishing, come back, and still have to go to the market to buy some to take home and pretend you caught them. Now, besides bringing them home as gifts, you can even sell them for money,” said the old man sitting next to Zhang’s father.
Zhang Jun said with a flushed face:
“Uncle Lei! Why are you speaking such blunt truths! And you two, really, Yang Qi and I are genuinely good friends. The way you put it, it sounds like I’m only after his fortune. What’s called ‘a gentleman’s friendship is as clear as water,’ that’s what we have!”
Soon, the three arrived at the dock, with a car following behind, parked far away. When they found Yang Qi, he was sitting on the boat, munching on a bun.
“Yang Qi!”
Hearing Zhang Jun call him, he leaped ashore in a few strides.
“Brother Jun is here! Come on, come on! Take a fishing box back, give some to my uncle. You should eat less yourself, we’re all single dogs, don’t feel superior.”
“Hahaha!”
Yang Qi heard a few hearty laughs and then noticed two old men standing not far behind Zhang Jun.
He turned to look at Zhang Jun: “Hmm~! What’s going on?”
“That’s your uncle, I don’t need to send him, he came himself!”
Only then did Yang Qi notice these two spirited old men with somewhat graying hair walking over, smiling as they looked at him.
Zhang Jun and one of them bore a slight resemblance between their brows. This old man was energetic and dignified, clearly exuding the aura of a person in a high position.
It was undoubtedly Zhang Jun’s father. “Hello, Chairman Zhang!”
The old man, with a beaming smile, said: “You and A Jun are like brothers, so you’re not an outsider. From now on, just call me Uncle Zhang! And this gentleman, you can call him Uncle Wang!”
Yang Qi, always agreeable, called out: “Hello, Uncle Zhang, Uncle Wang!”
The two old men nodded with beaming smiles.
“Uncles, Brother Jun, come and see the Mud Eel I caught. Take plenty back later to stew with chicken!”
Yang Qi was also good at handling situations.
He led the three down to the fishing boat and opened the live fish hold for them to see.
It was basically half water and half Mud Eel. The densely packed Mud Eel swam around, a truly astonishing sight.
Zhang Jun even picked up the scoop net nearby and reached in to scoop. Half a net full of Mud Eel twisted their long bodies in the net, looking full of vitality.
“Tsk tsk tsk! Truly good stuff,” Zhang Jun and the others exclaimed.
“How about this, Yang Qi, sell all these Mud Eel to me! I’ll use them as gifts. Don’t worry about the price, I won’t shortchange you,” the Chairman said.
“Uncle, what are you saying? I can give them all to you!”
Yang Qi said, going against his conscience.
To be honest, giving a few dozen to Zhang Jun and his son wouldn’t pain him. After all, they treated him so well. But if he gave away hundreds of catties, he would be reluctant.
However, he was also sure that as an elder and the chairman of a large group, they definitely wouldn’t let him suffer a loss.
“Hahaha, Yang Qi is very generous. But your uncle, I, can’t just take the fruits of your labor for free.”
“I appreciate your kind offer, but it should be whatever it’s worth! A Jun, I’ll leave this to you; don’t let Yang Qi suffer any loss.”
“I understand, Dad!”
“I’ll contact my old buddies myself; you contact the other business partners! First, scoop a few for me; we’ll stew some chicken for lunch. Yang Qi, come over for lunch later.”
With that, the two old men got into the bodyguard’s car and left.
“Yang Qi, I’ve called A Ming over. Later, we’ll unload the Mud Eel into his car and take them to my place. I’ll pay you a bit later, is that okay?” Zhang Jun said to Yang Qi.
“No problem, you go ahead and be busy, I’m not in a hurry. I need to take some back for my dad to make wine,” Yang Qi said.
“Hmm, as it should be!”
Not long after, Chen Tianming arrived in his live fish truck, bringing a worker to help.
After transferring the Mud Eel to Chen Tianming's car, Yang Qi bid farewell to the two and left.
Yang Qi returned to the village and gave Bai Dahai five Mud Eel weighing about a catty each, keeping the remaining 15 in the live fish tank.
The family of four came with Yang Qi to Zhang Fei’s training center in town.
Upon reaching the main entrance, Yang Qi gave the security guard a pack of cigarettes and explained the situation. He believed that from then on, the security guard would know he had a boat docked at the pier here.
The group followed Yang Qi to the “setting sail” docked at the pier below.
Bai’s mother, Chen Lanying, offered a pig’s head for worship, burned a good amount of paper money, prayed to Mazu to bless the “setting sail” with safety and a full catch, and also set off a long string of firecrackers.
The nearly 20-meter-long white fishing yacht lay quietly on the sea, like a small mountain.
Its massive size, combined with the metallic luster and the pure white paint of the hull, as well as the blue painted “setting sail” in large characters on the bow, showcased an upscale and grand presence.
The group toured the boat inside and out, up and down, and everyone was full of praise.
Although Bai Xue's license was still being upgraded, she could still operate boats under 20 meters.
Yang Qi called the dock management to request refueling. Filling the 6000-liter large fuel tank would take over 2 hours.
Since they weren't planning to go far today, Yang Qi decided to fill only half.
After some discussion, the group decided to use the waiting time during refueling to go to the market to buy vegetables and other items, as well as some kitchen utensils. They planned to have lunch at sea.
After refueling, the group watched as Yang Qi paid 20,000 yuan for the fuel, all of them filled with emotion.
“It’s truly a fuel guzzler!”
As Bai Xue started the engine, sounded the horn, and turned the rudder.
The “setting sail” slowly backed out of its berth, gliding smoothly on the sea like a majestic swan spreading its wings against the wind.
When Bai Xue steadily drove the boat to a safe area, at Yang Qi’s urging, Bai Xue blew a long horn and brought the speed to its maximum.
The white “setting sail” quickly overtook nearby fishing boats, breaking through the waves towards the distant azure sea.
Behind it, a trail of silver spray was left, truly a beautiful sight.
The family stood on the bow deck, gazing into the distance, where the sky and sea converged into a deep, azure expanse at the horizon.
