181: Chapter 176 How was the trial?
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the line.
"Too what?" Yu Heng pressed.
"I can't say it..." Zhou Wanyi's voice was almost a whisper.
Yu Heng switched the phone to his other hand, pushed open the balcony door, and walked out.
The morning breeze was a bit chilly as he leaned against the railing.
"Too comfortable?" he asked directly.
The sound of Zhou Wanyi inhaling came through the phone, followed by a long silence.
"Mm..." Finally, there was a response so soft it was almost inaudible.
"Then keep it," Yu Heng said. "When the new products come out, I'll send them over for you to try."
"Don't..." Zhou Wanyi said immediately, but then she paused.
"What's wrong?" Yu Heng asked.
"Mom... Mom will find out." Zhou Wanyi found an excuse, her voice sounding a bit panicked.
"Just hide it well," Yu Heng said. "In the nightstand drawer, or at the very back of the closet; Mom won't go through your things."
Zhou Wanyi stopped talking.
"Sister-in-law?" Yu Heng called out again.
"Mm..."
"How long did you use it?" Yu Heng asked.
Zhou Wanyi's face was burning intensely. How could he ask such a question... so naturally?
"Just... for a little while," she said vaguely.
"How long is a little while?" Yu Heng wouldn't let her off. "Ten minutes? Twenty minutes?"
Zhou Wanyi gripped her phone tightly. She couldn't remember clearly; she only remembered that when she finally collapsed on the bed, panting, she glanced at her phone and it was almost two o'clock.
"Used it the same way as last time?" Yu Heng continued. "That way is the most exhausting."
"Xiao Heng..." Zhou Wanyi murmured, "Don't say any more..."
"Fine, I won't say it," Yu Heng said. "If there's nothing else, I'll hang up?"
"Wait," Zhou Wanyi blurted out.
"Hmm?"
"You..." She bit her lip. "Can this business really make money?"
"It can," Yu Heng said. "You've used the sample; what do you think?"
Zhou Wanyi's face turned red again. Why did the question come back to this!
"It's... it's alright," she said.
"Then that's fine," Yu Heng said. "I'll have a user research questionnaire later; I'll send it to your WeChat, and you fill it out."
She had to fill out a questionnaire too?
Zhou Wanyi's eyes widened.
"Do I have to fill it out?" she asked.
"Do me a favor," Yu Heng said. "The more data we have, the more direction we have for product improvements."
In fact, this questionnaire was specially prepared; the questions on it were all things that might appear in a normal questionnaire.
"Alright..." Zhou Wanyi sighed.
"Hanging up then," Yu Heng said.
"Mm."
The call ended. Yu Heng put away his phone and pushed the door open to return to the bedroom.
Bai Xinran had already changed her clothes and was sitting by the bed folding the quilt.
Yu Heng put his phone back on the nightstand and asked with a smile, "Did you hear that?"
Bai Xinran's hands paused for a moment before she continued to fluff the pillow. "I heard a little."
She indeed heard it; the balcony door wasn't closed tightly, and the sound of Yu Heng's voice drifted in intermittently.
New products, questionnaires, and such—piecing it together, she could guess the gist of it.
But the person on the other side was his sister-in-law?
"What do you want to ask?" Yu Heng walked to the wardrobe and opened the door to look for clothes.
Bai Xinran pursed her lips. She did want to ask, but she didn't know how to start.
Ask directly what exactly is your relationship with your sister-in-law?
That would be overstepping too much.
"What did... she say about it?" Bai Xinran chose a middle-ground way of asking.
Yu Heng pulled out a black hoodie and took it off the hanger. "She said it's alright."
He pulled the hoodie over his head and tugged at the hem.
Bai Xinran walked over and naturally helped him straighten the back collar.
"What about the questionnaire?" she asked. "Do I need to fill it out too?"
"Haha, that's not necessary," Yu Heng turned around. "I can see your feedback with my own eyes."
Bai Xinran pursed her lips, feeling a bit shy, and didn't say anything more.
Yu Heng narrowed his eyes and said, "Not curious about anything else?"
"Is this your kink?" Bai Xinran was indeed a bit curious.
"Not exactly?" Yu Heng chuckled. "But it is indeed more stimulating."
"Then that's a pity," Bai Xinran pursed her lips.
"A pity for what?" Yu Heng raised an eyebrow.
"A pity that I don't have an older or younger sister," Bai Xinran said very seriously. "I can't satisfy you in that way."
"Hahaha!" Hearing this, Yu Heng laughed and pulled her into his arms. "You're really too well-behaved."
She nuzzled into Yu Heng's chest and said, "Thank you, Master."
Yu Heng let her go. Bai Xinran walked to the dressing table and gathered her hair; in the mirror, she could see him putting on his trousers.
"Regarding the matter this weekend," Yu Heng suddenly spoke, "how are your preparations coming along?"
"Everything that needs to be prepared has been prepared." She turned her head. "I've memorized the process and everything. I will perform well."
The Master-Recognition Ceremony—this term had been spinning in her head for several days.
Yu Heng walked up behind her and rested his hands on her shoulders. Their eyes met in the mirror.
"Nervous?" he asked.
"A little," Bai Xinran said honestly.
"Normal." Yu Heng pressed his fingers into her shoulders. "It's the first time; everyone is like this. But I hope it's only this once."
Bai Xinran looked into Yu Heng's eyes in the mirror and nodded. "I will. I definitely will."
Yu Heng smiled and turned to get his phone. Bai Xinran continued combing her hair, catching a glimpse of him scrolling through WeChat out of the corner of her eye.
"What are we eating for lunch?" Yu Heng asked while typing.
"There's still beef in the fridge," Bai Xinran put down the comb. "I can make stir-fried beef with green peppers and then a soup?"
"Sure," Yu Heng said. "Is Yue Ling coming back for lunch?"
"She said this morning that she's having lunch with her roommates."
"Then the three of us will eat," Yu Heng put his phone back in his pocket. "Mengqi will be over in a bit."
Bai Xinran's movements paused. "She's coming for lunch?"
"Mm." Yu Heng walked to the door. "I'm going downstairs to wait for her. Come down when you're finished tidying up."
"Okay."
The door closed, and Bai Xinran looked at herself in the mirror again.
Zhou Mengqi was coming. She couldn't quite describe how she felt; there were more and more people in this house.
Just like Master's heart, it was vast. But no matter how many people there were, there would always be a place for her.
And she was special; Master said she was the most talented.
---
When Zhou Mengqi arrived, she was carrying a bag of oranges.
"I bought them on the way," she placed the bag on the dining table. "They're really sweet."
Yu Heng was sitting on the sofa looking at his phone. He glanced up and said, "Just leave them there."
Bai Xinran came out of the kitchen, her apron stained with a few water spots.
"You're here?" she said.
"Mm," Zhou Mengqi took off her coat and draped it over the back of a chair. "Do you need help?"
"No need, it's almost ready." Bai Xinran turned and went back into the kitchen.
Zhou Mengqi walked over and sat down next to Yu Heng, leaning in to look at his phone screen. "What are you looking at?"
"The guild's backend data." Yu Heng tilted the screen toward her. "The new Streamer's traffic is pretty good."
"That's great then," Zhou Mengqi said. "By the way, when I was streaming last night, a viewer kept asking if they could add me on WeChat."
"How did you respond?" Yu Heng asked.
"I said private contact isn't allowed," Zhou Mengqi said. "But he sent quite a lot of gifts."
Yu Heng raised an eyebrow. "How much?"
"About ten thousand," Zhou Mengqi said. "I just sang a song to thank him."
"That's fine then," Yu Heng said. "How does streaming feel?"
"It's okay," Zhou Mengqi blinked, "it's just a bit energy-consuming."
