47: This place is known for its gay people.

"You really don't mind embarrassing yourself, do you?" Yu Heng looked at Hao Junran's bird-nest hair and the crusty sleep in the corner of his eyes. "At least wash your face?"

"What's there to be embarrassed about?" Hao Junran grabbed his jacket and threw it on. "Who's looking at who during an 8 AM class? Everyone's half-dead. We'll talk when we get back."

Hou Xudong stood at the door and pushed up his glasses. "Hurry up, we're going to be late."

Liu Tianqi was already standing at the door holding a bag of steamed buns and cups of soy milk. "Fuck, I knew you guys wouldn't be able to get up. Here's your breakfast!"

"Godfather!" Hao Junran went over and took a bag of buns and soy milk. "Brother Qi, can we have this service every day from now on?"

"Only if I'm actually your father!" Liu Tianqi rolled his eyes at him, then handed over Yu Heng and Hou Xudong's portions. "Here's yours. Eat on the way, or we really won't make it."

The four of them rushed out of the dormitory building. Hao Junran yawned until tears came out. "I say, who invented this 8 AM class anyway? It's anti-human!"

"And this class is a fucking filler course," Hou Xudong complained.

"It's all just a compliance test," Yu Heng curled his lip. "Otherwise, what's the use of these filler courses?"

The 8 AM classroom was on the first floor. They slipped in through the back door; it was already mostly full.

An old professor in his fifties stood on the podium, wearing reading glasses, slowly adjusting the projector.

Yu Heng scanned the classroom; there were still a few empty seats in the back row by the window.

"Over there," he pointed.

They hunched over and slipped into their seats. Hao Junran slumped into his chair and let out a long breath. "We made it..."

Yu Heng stuffed his backpack into the desk drawer and looked up at the projection.

The old professor pushed up his glasses and began the lecture. His voice was flat, with no ups or downs in his tone.

The hypnotic effect was top-notch.

Only ten minutes in, Hao Junran's head began to nod off.

Yu Heng leaned against the back of his chair, pulled out his phone, and set it to silent.

Ning Yutong had sent another message: "Yu Heng, I bought the white over-the-knee socks! They have lace edges, is that okay?"

It was followed by a screenshot from Taobao.

Yu Heng clicked on the image to take a look. Lace edges... this girl actually had pretty good taste.

He typed: "Fine, remember to bring a pair of ordinary short socks too. Wear them before changing."

"Okay!"

While his mind was wandering, Hao Junran suddenly poked his arm and lowered his voice: "Hey, look ahead."

Yu Heng looked up and followed the direction Hao Junran was pointing.

In a seat near the aisle in the front row sat a girl.

She had long hair draped over her shoulders, was wearing a thin cotton jacket, and her back was perfectly straight.

Just from her back, one could tell she had a good temperament.

"Who is it?" Yu Heng asked.

"Meng Shirui!" Hao Junran winked meaningfully. "The one we were talking about that night."

Yu Heng remembered.

He really hadn't recognized her.

In this lifetime, the two of them hadn't met yet.

Hao Junran poked Yu Heng with his elbow again. "How about it? Pretty good, right?"

Yu Heng glanced at him and didn't respond.

He was indeed sizing up Meng Shirui's back.

Her hair was really well-maintained; you could tell at a glance it was the kind that had never been dyed or permed since childhood.

"I'm asking you!" Hao Junran lowered his voice. "Is your heart fluttering? It's not too late to rush up and ask for her WeChat. I'll cover for you."

"Cover my ass," Yu Heng withdrew his gaze. "Focus on the lecture."

"Listen to what?" Hao Junran curled his lip. "This old man is like a chanting monk. My eyelids are almost glued shut."

Just as he finished speaking, the old professor on the podium pushed up his glasses and spoke slowly: "Those students in the back, you seem quite engaged in your conversation?"

A burst of laughter erupted in the classroom, and many people turned back to look at the back row.

Hao Junran buried his head, pretending to look seriously at his textbook.

Yu Heng met the professor's gaze with an innocent expression.

The old professor didn't press further, squinted his eyes, and continued reading his hypnotic PPT.

The class passed in a daze.

The old professor finished his last sentence: "Alright, that's all for this class. Dismissed."

The classroom instantly came to life.

"Finally, class is over. I suspect this PPT is older than the professor." Hao Junran stretched. "Food, food! I'm starving to death!"

"Didn't you eat two buns?" Hou Xudong asked while packing his books.

"That little bit of stuff is useless." Hao Junran patted his stomach. "Are we going or not? To the Second Cafeteria. I want braised pork today!"

Liu Tianqi had already stood up. "Let's go."

Yu Heng stood up and caught a glimpse of the front row out of the corner of his eye. Meng Shirui was also standing up. Her movements were unhurried.

"What are you looking at? Let's go!" Hao Junran urged.

"What's the rush?" Yu Heng followed them out.

When they reached the classroom door, Meng Shirui happened to come from the other side, and the two almost collided head-on at the entrance.

Yu Heng instinctively stepped aside.

Meng Shirui paused and looked up.

Their eyes met.

Only then did Yu Heng truly see her face clearly.

His memory also became clear at once.

She was indeed beautiful; her eyes were quite large, and her pupils were very dark.

When she looked at him, her gaze was very calm, without surprise or avoidance.

Just like looking at a completely strange classmate.

She nodded slightly as a greeting.

Then she stepped aside and walked past him.

Yu Heng stood in place and watched her, raising an eyebrow.

"Was that just..." Hao Junran leaned over. "Eye contact? Did you speak?"

"Eye contact, no talking." Yu Heng withdrew his gaze.

"How did it feel? Did your heart flutter?"

"Flutter my ass." Yu Heng sneered. "Do you think we're filming an idol drama?"

But Meng Shirui's looks really were at the level of an idol drama. In terms of pure looks, she was higher than He Mengyao.

No wonder he had struggled for a long time when this girl took the initiative to confess in his previous life.

If it were now... Yu Heng clicked his tongue in his heart.

Now, he would probably agree first and see how things went.

After all, dating isn't marriage. If it doesn't work out, you can always break up.

Yu Heng and his group walked toward the Second Cafeteria.

The cafeteria was already crowded, with a long line in front of the window.

There was no shortage of couples holding hands in this cafeteria.

Even for a meal, they had to sit close together, feeding each other bite by bite.

This kind of full-time romance was nice; going to class and slacking off every day.

Someone provided for their food and drink, so they didn't have to worry about the basics for four years of university.

"Hey, Yu Heng." Hao Junran tapped Yu Heng's tray with his chopsticks. "What are you dazing about? Thinking about Meng Shirui?"

"Why would I think about her?"

"Tsk, let me tell you," Hao Junran got excited, "quite a few people are chasing Meng Shirui. Take that Wang Shuo from our class; he's chasing her so diligently, bringing her breakfast every day."

Liu Tianqi chimed in: "Wang Shuo? That one with glasses who talks like a sissy?"

"Yeah, him." Hao Junran lowered his voice. "But I heard that Meng Shirui hasn't paid him any attention at all. All the things he sends are given to her roommates."

Hou Xudong pushed up his glasses. "Isn't that normal? What decent person would go for someone like that?"

"True. If Wang Shuo grew his hair long, I bet no one could tell he's a guy if you didn't say so," Hao Junran commented.

"Seriously, if he wasn't chasing Meng Shirui, I'd have thought he was GAY." Liu Tianqi squinted and said, "Where is this guy from? He doesn't look like he's from the north."

In Yu Heng's dorm, all four were from Ji Province.

"Seems like he's from Sichuan?" Hou Xudong said.

"Sichuan?" Yu Heng couldn't hold back when he heard that. "Then he might really be GAY."

"Why?" Hao Junran asked.

Yu Heng smiled and said, "That place produces those things as a specialty!"

However, his sissy manner didn't seem to be the trendy style in Sichuan?
