60: They're quite good at disciplining people.
Yu Heng lightly kicked Qin Ya under the table.
This girl, she was starting to pry again.
Qin Ya winced, glared at Yu Heng, but restrained herself slightly.
Ning Yutong listened quietly, pursing her lips into a smile.
She was actually quite curious about Bai Xinran's situation.
She was so beautiful and had such a good figure... Although she and Bai Xinran had added each other on WeChat, their conversations were very formal.
She wasn't sure exactly what the relationship between Bai Xinran and Yu Heng was.
When she arrived at the Villa today, she saw the two of them eating breakfast together.
She felt inexplicably uncomfortable, especially since Bai Xinran was dressed so casually.
A lot of her cleavage was showing!
Thinking of this, Ning Yutong subconsciously looked down at her own chest.
In this regard, she hadn't met a match yet!
Even Yue Ling couldn't compare to her!
The barbecue was served quickly.
Yu Heng naturally picked up the tongs and started grilling. Qin Ya directed him from the side: “I want pork belly! Grill it until it’s a little burnt!”
“Burnt causes cancer,” Yu Heng said expressionlessly.
“I don’t care, I want it burnt!”
“Fine, fine, I’ll grill it into charcoal for you.”
Ning Yutong softly said, “Yu Heng, should I help you?”
“No need, just sit and eat,” Yu Heng said without lifting his head. “I’ll get it ready and put it on your plate later.”
Qin Ya pouted beside him: “Favoritism.”
Yu Heng picked up a sizzling piece of pork belly and stuffed it directly into Qin Ya’s mouth: “Eat up, and talk less.”
“Hot, hot, hot!” Qin Ya panted from the heat, but she still chewed and swallowed it. “...It’s alright.”
Bai Xinran watched this scene and suddenly found it amusing.
The way these two interacted really did resemble siblings.
“Sister Xinran, eat this,” Ning Yutong placed a grilled beef short rib onto Bai Xinran’s plate.
“Thank you,” Bai Xinran nodded.
The four of them ate and chatted. Halfway through the meal, Yu Heng suddenly asked, “Right, what are your plans for the afternoon?”
Qin Ya immediately raised her hand: “Didn’t you say you’d take me out to play!”
“I am taking you out to play,” Yu Heng said, “but I didn’t say they couldn’t come along.”
He looked at Bai Xinran and Ning Yutong: “A new Escape Room just opened up on Commercial Street, and I heard the reviews are pretty good. How about the four of us go together?”
Bai Xinran raised an eyebrow: “An Escape Room?”
“That sounds interesting,” Ning Yutong said softly. “I’ve never played before.”
Qin Ya got excited: “Let’s go! We must go! I want to play the scariest one!”
“With your guts?” Yu Heng scoffed. “Don't end up screaming and burrowing into someone's arms.”
“Who would burrow into your arms!” Qin Ya glared at him, then pointed at Ning Yutong and said, “I'll burrow into... into her arms!”
Ning Yutong: “...? Why?”
“Because of the shock absorption!” Qin Ya laughed. “Plus, it’s soft and comfortable!”
“Tsk!” Yu Heng slapped the back of her head again. “What did you promise me? No talking nonsense!”
“If you speak nonsense again,” Yu Heng retracted his hand, “I’ll lock you alone in a dark room during the Escape Room this afternoon.”
“How dare you!” Qin Ya widened her eyes. “I’m your future cash cow!”
“Little trees need to be pruned to grow straight,” Yu Heng stuffed meat into his mouth, “otherwise they’ll grow crooked.”
Bai Xinran listened and curved her lips. He was quite good at disciplining people.
Would he discipline her like that in the future?
“Sister Xinran, are you going?” Ning Yutong asked softly. “Escape Rooms are more fun with more people.”
Bai Xinran actually wasn't very interested in Escape Rooms.
But if everyone else was going, it would be a bit unsociable if she didn't.
“Sure,” she nodded. “I don’t have anything planned for the afternoon anyway.”
“Yay!” Qin Ya raised her hand. “Let’s go now!”
“I’ll call and check first.” Yu Heng pulled out his phone, opened Dazhong Dianping, and found the newly opened Escape Room shop.
The call connected, and Yu Heng asked a few simple questions.
After hanging up, he looked at the three girls: “There are still spots for the 2:30 session. The theme is... Chinese Horror, Mild Horror level. Is that okay?”
“What level is Mild Horror?” Ning Yutong asked nervously.
“It means NPCs will suddenly jump out to scare you, but they won’t chase you or touch you,” Yu Heng explained. “It’s suitable for beginners.”
“I want to play!” Qin Ya immediately raised her hand. “I want the scary one!”
Bai Xinran raised an eyebrow: “Aren’t you scared?”
“It’s only fun if it’s scary!” Qin Ya declared confidently. “Otherwise, why would we pay money just to look at the scenery?”
Yu Heng looked at Ning Yutong: “Can you handle it?”
Ning Yutong bit her lip.
She was actually quite afraid of ghosts and monsters.
When she watched Ju-On as a child, she was so scared she didn't dare use the restroom by herself for a week.
But... she secretly glanced at Yu Heng.
Wouldn't saying no make her seem particularly timid?
Besides, Qin Ya and Bai Xinran were both going. It would be embarrassing if she couldn't.
“I can do it,” she took a deep breath. “Mild Horror should be fine, right?”
“Alright, it’s settled then.” He clicked on the reservation page for the 2:30 session. A little while later, the group stood outside the entrance of the Escape Room shop.
The shop was decorated with a good atmosphere: blood-red lettering on a black sign, with a hideous ghost face drawn beside it.
“That’s it?” Qin Ya peered through the glass door. “It’s pitch black inside.”
A young man wearing glasses sat at the front desk and pushed up his frames: “Four people, right? Reserved for the 2:30 session?”
“Yes,” Yu Heng nodded. “The Chinese Horror theme.”
“Okay, please wait a moment.” The young man stood up, took four liability waivers from the cabinet. “Fill these out first, then I’ll go over the rules.”
Qin Ya took the waiver, scanned it, and started signing: “Is this thing useful? If I really get scared sick, will you compensate me?”
The young man chuckled dryly: “Student, you are humorous. This is Mild Horror; it’s very safe.”
Ning Yutong held the pen, looking at the clauses on the waiver, her heart pounding.
“It’s fine,” Yu Heng leaned closer and whispered, “I’m here. Nothing will scare you.”
Ning Yutong’s face flushed, and she nodded and signed the document.
After the waivers were signed, the young man led them further inside.
“Our theme is called ‘The Embroiderer’,” the young man introduced as they walked. “The background is an ancient Embroidery Workshop where an embroiderer was wrongfully killed and turned into a Vengeful Ghost... But don't worry, since this is Mild Horror, the NPCs won't touch you or chase you. They will just pop out to scare you.”
“That’s it?” Qin Ya pouted. “Boring.”
“Don’t rush, student,” the young man pushed open a wooden door. “You’ll see once you go inside.”
Inside the door was a changing room, with several coarse cloth garments hanging on the wall.
“Do we need to change clothes?” Yu Heng asked.
“It’s not mandatory, but changing will enhance the immersive experience.” The young man pointed to the clothes. “The women’s clothes are here, and the men’s are over there.”
Qin Ya was the first to rush over, grabbing a piece and putting it on: “I want to change! This is so much fun!”
When the four of them came out dressed, they looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh.
“You actually look the part,” Qin Ya circled Yu Heng. “Bro, you could star in a historical drama with that outfit.”
“Stop joking,” Yu Heng tapped her on the head. “Let’s go.”
The young man led them to a heavy wooden door, which had a yellowed talisman pasted on it.
“The door will lock automatically once you enter,” the young man said. “There’s a walkie-talkie inside; if you really can’t proceed, you can ask for help. I wish you all a pleasant time.”
After he finished speaking, he pushed the door open.
It was pitch black inside, with only a few faint candlelight flickering in the distance.
A smell of old mildew mixed with the scent of incense wafted out.
“I’ll go first,” Yu Heng naturally walked to the front. “Qin Ya, stick close to me. Bai Xinran, you take the rear, and Ning Yutong, walk in the middle.”
This arrangement was very sensible.
Ning Yutong felt a warmth in her heart and followed Yu Heng inside.
The door closed behind them.
“Holy crap, it’s really dark!” Qin Ya’s voice sounded surprisingly excited.
