70: Did we stumble upon a juicy spectacle?
Yu Heng walked back to the booth, and Ning Yutong quietly asked, “Who was that?”
In fact, seeing Yu Heng’s expression when he answered the phone, she had already guessed it might be Shen Yueling.
“Yue Ling,” Yu Heng said. “She said she wanted to come over and take a look.”
“Is that so?” Ning Yutong smiled. “Then she must be done with her busy work.”
“Busy with what?” Yu Heng asked. Was there something he didn't know about?
“Yue Ling has been busy with the Freshman Welcome Gala these past few days,” Ning Yutong explained.
“Freshman Welcome Gala?” Yu Heng was confused. “Does she have to perform a segment on stage for the Freshman Welcome Gala?”
“No, it’s a group performance for their class, and their professional course teacher is having them design the performance costumes themselves as practice.”
“Really?” Yu Heng frowned. He truly hadn't known about this. “Have you two been chatting recently?”
“Of course, we chat every day,” Ning Yutong said softly, omitting the part about trying to pry information out of her last night.
“Chat every day?” Yu Heng repeated.
He wondered if the relationship between these two had really eased up.
He subconsciously blurted out, “But you two were just a while ago...”
“A while ago was a while ago,” Ning Yutong blinked. “Now is now.”
Yu Heng clicked his tongue internally. They were still subtly competing just a few days ago.
A few more freshmen came to the booth to ask questions, and Yu Heng stood up to greet them.
About ten minutes later, Yu Heng was looking down, organizing the registration forms, when he heard Ning Yutong whisper, “Yue Ling is here.”
He looked up and saw Shen Yueling walking over from the end of the plaza.
She was actually carrying a case of bottled water.
Yu Heng thought to himself, 'She’s quite strong now; last time we went to the supermarket, she made me carry it for her.'
Shen Yueling walked up to the booth and placed the bottled water next to the table.
“Share these with them,” she said, glancing at Yu Heng.
“Thanks,” Yu Heng pulled the case of water over, tore open the packaging, and handed a bottle to everyone.
Shen Yueling naturally sat down in the chair Yu Heng had just vacated.
There were only three chairs at the entire booth. Yu Heng was standing, and Bai Xinran and Ning Yutong each occupied one.
Yu Heng raised an eyebrow but said nothing, unscrewing his bottle cap and taking a drink.
Bai Xinran nodded toward Shen Yueling: “Long time no see.”
“Mm, long time no see,” Shen Yueling replied, acknowledging the greeting.
The two of them had only met that one time at the Villa and hadn't exchanged many words, so they were indeed not close.
“Yue Ling, are you done with your busy schedule?” Ning Yutong asked with a smile.
“Mm, I just submitted the design draft,” Shen Yueling nodded, her tone flat, revealing little emotion.
Yu Heng leaned against the table, watching the three girls sitting there.
Ning Yutong was smiling gently, Shen Yueling still looked cold and stunning, and Bai Xinran was calmly playing on her phone.
The scene was quite harmonious.
“Excuse me, what does your club do?” a girl wearing glasses leaned over and asked.
“We’re the Virtual Streamer club,” Yu Heng pointed to the introduction on the Roll-up banner. “We do online streaming, but you don’t have to show your face; you use a virtual avatar.”
“Virtual avatar?” The girl's eyes lit up. “You mean those anime skins?”
“Exactly,” Yu Heng nodded. “Our club provides training, teaching you how to Stream, how to interact with the audience, and equipment support.”
Although the girl’s appearance was ordinary, her voice was actually quite pleasant.
“Do I have to buy the equipment myself?” the girl asked.
“The club has shared equipment, but if you want to be more professional, you can get your own setup,” Yu Heng explained.
The girl was clearly tempted and picked up a registration form: “Can I take one?”
“Go ahead,” Yu Heng said.
Shen Yueling sat in the chair, watching Yu Heng introduce the club to people.
When he spoke, his eyes were focused, his thoughts were clear, and occasionally he would crack a joke to liven up the atmosphere.
It was different from his usual lazy demeanor.
Her gaze shifted downward, landing on the gray scarf around his neck.
That wasn't his.
The color and style didn't look like something he would buy.
An indescribable annoyance silently crept up inside her.
She had been incredibly busy these past few days.
The thirty-two people in her class were divided into eight groups to design costumes for the Freshman Welcome Gala, and if selected, they would receive extra course credit.
Shen Yueling didn't really care about the course credit, nor was she concerned about winning awards or honors.
But her personality, ever since she was young, dictated that if she was going to do something,
she had to do it to the best of her ability.
After several consecutive nights of staying up late, her eyes were slightly dark underneath.
It wasn't that she hadn't thought about contacting Yu Heng, but she knew he was also busy recently.
His startup had just begun, so he must have a ton of things to deal with.
If they managed to meet briefly, it wouldn't last long, and they wouldn't have time to do anything, which would only make her more anxious.
So she decided they should just focus on their own things and talk once her work was finished.
This morning, she finally submitted the final design draft and contacted Yu Heng immediately.
But what did she see when she arrived?
It was quite lively around him.
Ning Yutong was sitting right next to him, and that Streamer named Bai Xinran was also there.
She missed him, but what about him?
He was here chatting and laughing with girls.
Although she was the one who agreed to that kind of relationship, promising not to restrain him.
But agreement was one thing, and seeing this scene still stirred up some emotion in her heart.
Shen Yueling didn't think this was contradictory; feelings and emotions were separate things, and rationality and sensibility were not in conflict!
People continued to come over to inquire about the club.
Shen Yueling sat there the whole time, occasionally looking down at her phone, occasionally glancing up at Yu Heng.
Yu Heng could feel her gaze but didn't turn around.
He wondered what Shen Yueling actually wanted by coming over today.
Was she really just taking a look?
Just as he was thinking, another person arrived at the booth.
Yu Heng looked up and froze.
He Mengyao? Yu Heng was a little surprised.
“Oh, Yu Heng,” He Mengyao walked over, her gaze sweeping across the booth. “You’re... running a club?”
As she spoke, her eyes lingered on Ning Yutong and Shen Yueling before finally resting on Bai Xinran’s face.
“The Virtual Streamer club,” Yu Heng said. “How did you end up wandering over here?”
“Just looking around,” He Mengyao said, hands in her pockets, standing casually. “My department has a segment in the Freshman Welcome Gala, and I was dragged along to practice dancing. I happened to pass by and saw you here.”
She leaned in closer to look at the poster. “You actually started a club?”
“Why wouldn’t I?” Yu Heng smiled.
“Not bad,” He Mengyao raised an eyebrow, her gaze returning to Yu Heng’s face. “You made it look quite professional.”
“Interested in learning more?” Yu Heng asked half-jokingly.
“Me?” He Mengyao laughed. “I don’t have the patience to Stream. Besides, isn’t dancing tiring enough?”
As she spoke, her gaze swept over Ning Yutong again.
Ning Yutong stood up at this moment, smiling as she handed over a registration form: “Student, feel free to take a look if you’re interested.”
He Mengyao took the form but didn't look at it, instead staring at Ning Yutong: “Are you part of the club?”
“Yes, and I’m Yu Heng’s high school classmate,” Ning Yutong’s voice remained gentle.
“Oh~” He Mengyao drew out the sound. “Are you a Streamer too?”
Shen Yueling watched this newly arrived girl. She was also very familiar with Yu Heng?
When did they meet?
She had been busy for days, missing him, but he, on the other hand, was never without company.
Suddenly, she didn't want to sit there anymore; she wanted to be alone with him.
Shen Yueling suddenly spoke up: “Yu Heng, I’m hungry.”
Her voice wasn't loud, but it was enough for everyone to hear.
Yu Heng looked at her: “Hungry? It’s only eleven.”
“I didn’t eat breakfast,” Shen Yueling said naturally.
That was true. Rushing to submit the draft, she had only had a cup of coffee this morning.
“Then why don’t you go grab something to eat?” Yu Heng suggested.
Shen Yueling looked at him: “You come with me.”
Hao Junran, who was nearby, glanced at Yu Heng, then at Shen Yueling and the other girls.
Had he stumbled upon some drama?
