103: Chapter 103 The Woman with Amnesia

Zhao Feng did not dare to go over and catch her. Falling at such a high speed, although he could catch her with his physical strength and at most suffer minor injuries, that woman would definitely die.

He subconsciously blew a breath toward the sky. Of course, it wasn't a cold breath, just simple wind. Zhao Feng could freely control whether it was a breeze or a cold wind, which allowed him to handle different environments without any problems.

The wind wasn't too strong, but the gentle breeze slowed the woman's descent on one hand—Zhao Feng could see the black dot in the sky start to slow down. On the other hand, the wind exerted a lateral force on the woman.

"Thump!" Water splashed everywhere. If this were a diving competition, the score certainly wouldn't be high.

The woman landed squarely in the water; of course, this was Zhao Feng's doing.

Judging by the sound of the water, she probably wouldn't die, but serious injury was inevitable. Zhao Feng dived into the water and saw the person slowly floating up from the depths.

The water had a faint, fishy smell, and there was a bit of red in his field of vision; this woman was truly injured.

Zhao Feng grabbed her by the waist and, ignoring her feeble struggles, flew out of the water.

Her touch was soft. The woman was tall, and although her face was ordinary, she exuded a unique temperament. He didn't know what material her clothes were made of, but they didn't get wet in the water, which disappointed Zhao Feng, who had been harboring some expectations.

Looking at the design of her clothing and her attire, the level of civilization in this world shouldn't be too high, at least not beyond the scope of ancient times.

The woman had not lost consciousness; she slightly opened a pair of beautiful, large eyes, her slender right hand with fingers as white as milk. She seemed to want to stroke Zhao Feng's cheek, but because her injuries were too severe, she let out a soft groan and her right hand fell limply.

"Senior Brother?" Her voice was like an orchid in an empty valley, extremely pleasant to the ear.

But saying those two words seemed to exhaust all her strength; the world in her eyes grew darker and darker, then faded into silence.

When she opened her eyes again, a pitch-black roof came into view. She wanted to look around, but the movement aggravated her wounds, causing a tearing pain in her chest.

"Ngh!" She let out a soft moan. Her mind was blank; it seemed she couldn't remember anything.

"Where is this? Who am I?" The woman uttered words that any amnesiac might say. That's right, under the high-speed impact, she had lost her memory.

"Are you awake?" A gentle male voice came from outside, and then with a creak, the dilapidated wooden door was opened. Warm sunlight shone in, followed by a tall figure walking in.

The footsteps drew closer, and a round face came into her view. This was a quite amiable man; although he couldn't be called handsome, he was exceptionally reassuring. (The System chuckled; for a 'lonely bachelor' mission, charm stats naturally need to be high.)

"Your injuries are very severe. Don't speak for now, and don't move around; let me take a look." The man dispelled her intention to speak, then sat by her bedside and took her hand.

"Shouldn't I be shy at a time like this?" This thought flickered in her mind, but before she could react, she felt a warm, gentle energy crawl up her arm from her hand.

"Huh!" Zhao Feng was very surprised. As his spiritual power entered the woman's body, it was met with a counterattack from a not-so-weak force similar to spiritual power.

"This is interesting. I didn't expect that a woman falling from the sky would actually be a Cultivator." Zhao Feng withdrew his spiritual power. Judging from the momentary clash, this woman's spiritual power was even more robust than his own.

"If this woman isn't some top-tier expert, then the strength of the Cultivators on this planet is truly astonishing." Zhao Feng reached this conclusion in an instant.

"Rest well and recover. I'm going to get you a bowl of porridge." Zhao Feng nodded at the woman, stood up, and walked out.

The woman found his sudden change in reaction a bit strange, but her head started hurting again, so she had no choice but to stop thinking hard and lay calmly on the bed.

Zhao Feng pondered that he needed to go to his neighbor Old Man Li's house to ask for a bowl of millet porridge. His Steel Body could replenish energy as long as there was sunlight, so he often forgot to eat. But this woman was seriously injured; fortunately, she had cultivation, so her injuries would likely heal relatively quickly, but the problem of food would have to rely on Zhao Feng.

It would naturally be embarrassing to visit empty-handed; he needed to bring something.

The thatched cottage where he was staying was very dilapidated; four drafty, rotten walls plus a roof and a broken wooden door constituted a house. The previous owner was an old bachelor, who reportedly had been missing for many years. In these times, being missing for a few years meant he was practically dead.

The entire village only had six households and was sparsely populated. They were naturally welcoming to Zhao Feng, who had a relatively kind face, especially after hearing that Zhao Feng had brought an injured wife with him.

Of course, regarding the matter of the 'wife,' Zhao Feng adamantly denied it; this was definitely not something he had said.

But Old Man Li, as the village chief, was still very enthusiastic about arranging for them to stay in this empty house, which could be considered adding a bit of life to the place.

This village was called Li Family Village, and the six households in the village were all related by blood or marriage—they were all one family. The six households only had 22 people in total; it was an extremely small village.

The village had no contact with the outside world and was isolated, so the folk customs were very simple and honest. Furthermore, the environment here was harsh, with a lack of water and food. There were also wild beasts like Sand Wolves in the desolate sandy land, so the people were very united.

The six households elected Old Man Li as the village chief. This Old Man Li was a very fair person and managed the households harmoniously.

In this village, they had always relied on a small stream from far away to survive, but it often dried up, so water was very precious. However, for Zhao Feng, who possessed the ability to modify terrain, these ordinary things were not truly precious, and they happened to be suitable as gifts.

Arriving at Old Man Li's house, Zhao Feng knocked on the dilapidated wooden door and shouted, "Old Man Li, are you home?"

"I'm here!" Before the person was seen, his voice arrived first. A thin, elderly man with graying hair walked out from the main room, smiling happily.

"Oh, it's Young Master Zhao! Come, come, come in and sit." Old Man Li hurried over, opened the wooden door, and ushered Zhao Feng inside. "In this backwater of ours, there's no need to be so polite."

A small child with two pigtails hid timidly behind Old Man Li, peeking out with a small head.

"Niuniu, hurry and say hello to your big brother," Old Man Li said with a smile.

"Brother." Niuniu called out in a soft, thin voice, then quickly shrank back.

"Niuniu is such a good girl!" Zhao Feng felt a bit awkward; he hadn't prepared any small gifts at all.

Old Man Li seemed to see through his thoughts, pulled Zhao Feng to sit down, and said, "Young Master Zhao, there's no need to be polite. This morning I saw that your wife's injuries were very severe; I wonder if she's feeling any better?"

Before Zhao Feng could speak, he continued, "Right, I had my old woman boil some millet porridge. I'll bring it over later. Since she's injured, she needs to eat well. We don't have anything good, so I hope you won't take offense."

Zhao Feng was deeply moved. Looking at the ragged hemp clothes on his body and the sallow, thin Niuniu, he knew their lives were also difficult, yet the millet porridge...

"This..."

"No need to be polite, as long as you don't mind it," Old Man Li said with a smile.

"Then I shall respectfully accept!" Zhao Feng stood up solemnly and bowed.

Carrying the millet porridge back to the hut, Zhao Feng stepped over the threshold while thinking about Old Man Li's kindness and how to repay him. Suddenly, an alarm bell rang in his heart, and he hurriedly dodged backward.
