65: Chapter 65 The Role of Farmers

The surprise attack by the Corpse Beasts had put every tribe on alert; a large swarm of Corpse Beasts might be nearby.

By the time they returned to the Birch Forest Area, it was already late afternoon.

Zhao Feng released the Cloud-Soaring Sparrow to scout the surroundings, while simultaneously arranging for the Farmers to begin construction and summoning the two tribes.

The Duerte People and the Kilian Tribe definitely needed to be subjugated. Zhao Feng did not want them to suffer too many losses, and the Birch Forest Area might soon face a hundred thousand Corpse Beasts; if they were separated, they would easily be defeated one by one.

The Birch Forest Area was located on the edge of the Endless Grasslands, with the Endless Mountains at its back, and the terrain was slightly elevated.

Zhao Feng's location was on a small hillside. Although such a small hill could not provide a steep defensive position, it at least offered a wide field of view.

From afar, Zhao Feng saw a large dark mass approaching, a multitude of figures that appeared to be quite numerous.

Zhao Feng, whose eyesight was ten times that of an ordinary person, instantly recognized the banner of the Duerte People. He stopped the guard beside him who was about to strike the gong and waited quietly for the Duerte People to arrive.

Before the Duerte People had even reached him, the Kilian Tribe arrived as well.

The warriors of the two tribes were similar, each numbering around 900, which counted as strong tribes. Adding those left behind in each tribe, they were medium-sized tribes of at least 1,500 people, already nearing the point of threatening the status of the Third Taiji.

Although the Qin Army had fewer men, looking at their equipment, one could tell that the combat power of the Qin Army was likely three to five times that of the two tribes.

Zhao Feng surveyed the warriors of the two tribes walking over, calculating in his mind.

Generally speaking, the Duerte People were short, around 1.4 meters tall; it seemed their leader was an exception. Although they were short, their bodies were sturdy. Looking at the large stone bars on their backs, it was clear they possessed significant strength. Combined with the advantage of having four arms, they would not be too bad in either melee or ranged combat.

The Kilian Tribe most closely resembled humans in appearance, but they had a low protrusion in the center of their heads, which made it very easy to distinguish between humans and the Kilian Tribe.

Gathering the three tribes together formed an army of about two thousand people, which would still be difficult to defend while relying on the city. However, the Corpse Beasts lacked intelligence; as long as they were operated properly, it was not without hope.

From a distance, a foul stench could be smelled. These primitive people even had issues with the water they drank, so naturally, they did not bathe. They were lacking in supplies; aside from weapons, only some important figures had a bit of animal hide armor, while most people were completely bare, with nothing at all.

Zhao Feng frowned; this was something that needed to be resolved.

"Jun, Chieftain Lie Dao, welcome," Zhao Feng said, walking ahead to greet them with a hearty laugh.

"Greetings, Commander," the two said, stepping forward quickly and respectfully.

"Let the warriors rest first; let us discuss things together." Zhao Feng waited for the two to give instructions to their subordinates, then led them into the military camp and arrived at the training grounds.

On the training grounds, soldiers were practicing military formations and combat, while others were practicing thrusting under the command of their officers. Watching the wooden stakes being pierced deeply with a swish, the two leaders were secretly alarmed and exchanged glances.

Passing through the training grounds, the four arrived at the command post. Several guards brought simple refreshments, and the three ate while talking, with Xiao Luo translating on the side.

"Since the two of you support me as Commander, I will naturally try my best to preserve everyone's strength and eliminate the Corpse Beasts."

"Qin City is powerful; the City Lord is well-deserving of the title," Jun laughed.

Chieftain Lie Dao only nodded; he did not seem fond of talking.

"Because we are outnumbered in this battle, and the mobility of the Corpse Beasts exceeds our own, my plan is to rely on the castle to snipe at the Corpse Beasts."

"What is a castle?"

Although both tribes were medium-sized, they had no concept of a city. It could be said that while the Planet of the Dead seemed unified under The Ten Great Tribes at this time, the level of civilization was far from reaching that point.

Every civilized tribe was in a state of cave-dwelling or nomadism; a method like building a city to live in was being seen for the first time. Perhaps some tribes had simple defensive walls, but they could not reach the advanced construction level of Qin City.

In every aspect, including architectural technology, diet, culture, military technology, and social structure, Qin City was far ahead, in a state of complete crushing superiority.

"Have the two leaders ever had the experience of attacking animals from a tree? When encountering fierce beasts, you can climb a big tree and throw stone spears at the beasts from above, and the beasts can do nothing. The function of the castle is to prevent the Corpse Beasts from hitting us, while we can hit the Corpse Beasts," Zhao Feng explained patiently.

"So that's how it is." Both leaders acted as if they had suddenly realized the truth.

"Can Qin City quickly grow big trees?" Jun asked curiously.

Zhao Feng shook his head and smiled, "You two will understand by tomorrow. Very well, it is getting late, so I will not keep you."

Although the two leaders were full of curiosity, they were too embarrassed to insist on staying, so they took their leave.

Although Zhao Feng had played the game age of empires, he was not very familiar with it, which resulted in many differences when he constructed the System. Currently, it seemed that besides age of empires, some elements were from "Stronghold," some from "Banished," some from "Total War," and some from "Rise of Nations"... It was thanks to the intrusion of these miscellaneous technologies and unit types that the Empire System had become exceptionally powerful.

The Farmer was one such enhanced unit. Zhao Feng's Farmers could not only transform into various non-military units but also possessed ultra-fast construction speeds.

Resources extracted through the market were quickly turned into sections of city walls. Because architectural technology had improved, the walls were built into massive walls fifteen meters high. The thickness at the base of this type of wall reached twenty meters, and the top was sixteen meters thick. Although most of it was rammed earth, it was something that primitive people without siege equipment could not break through.

One hundred Farmers first built the Town Center, then the market, barracks, and warehouse, and finally the city walls. Farmers were joining from time to time, and now there were one hundred and twenty Farmers building.

Zhao Feng watched as these Farmers, emitting a faint green halo, worked up a sweat. The stone and soil constantly being transported were consumed rapidly, and the city wall rose at a speed visible to the naked eye.

He curiously entered the Heavenly Eye Cultivation Technique state. The surrounding environment was quickly constructed in his brain. The energy halos on the bodies of the working Farmers far exceeded those of the Grey Werewolves in the caves, and even exceeded that of the powerful Grey Werewolf leader. It seemed there was a powerful force helping these Farmers work quickly.

It was a pity that the energy of these Farmers could not be used for combat; otherwise, an army approaching Spirit Rank could completely physically unify the world.

With his current capabilities, Zhao Feng was completely unable to interpret the abilities of the System. Zhao Feng did not worry about it; after eating dinner, he went straight back to the Town Center and entered his room.

With no novels to read, Zhao Feng had nothing to do, so he used the time to practice his Cultivation Technique.

The knowledge about Qigong from his past life had lost its guiding role for his current situation; in other words, everything at present was something he had created himself, purely by guesswork.

The System was not of much help in this regard; even the stages of his own strength required him to name them himself. Fortunately, there was a quantification function that allowed Zhao Feng to continue groping his way forward.

Pioneering a new school of thought sounded very satisfying, but the immense risks involved were impossible to understand for anyone who had not experienced it.

Great Dragon Fist, Tree Flight, Centipede-Piercing Spear Technique, Stone Throwing Technique, and Gale Blade Technique—these Martial Skills naturally could not be neglected. The experience points were constantly increasing, and there were constant new insights; one day, he would surely enter another Realm.

After finishing his Martial Skills, he rested for a moment and continued the spiritual power scouring under the microscope. Judging from the experience of this period, spiritual power scouring could expel the Impurities from his body, making his body stronger and healthier; perhaps this was also an alternative form of Foundation Establishment.
