31: Chapter 31 The Stone Age, Herdsmen

"Seal, this planet's System has appeared. The main System will automatically enter sleep mode in one week, and modification functions will be suspended."

"Town Center imported; the host automatically becomes the lord."

"Subsystem template imported; System intelligence generated."

"Calibrating energy..."

"Establishing rules..."

"System error correction in progress; executing error Seal."

"Host, shall the Town Center be materialized?"

After a series of System operations, Zhao Feng, who had been waiting for a long time, finally received the results.

Zhao Feng hesitated for a moment before saying, "Yes."

"Please select a suitable terrain."

In Zhao Feng's consciousness, a glowing green square continuously covered the surrounding terrain, occasionally showing small red dots indicating that it could not be materialized.

After maneuvering, Zhao Feng finally found a suitable piece of land. "Place."

As if conjured out of thin air, a dilapidated campfire site appeared before the two of them.

This campfire site was quite large, covering about a hundred square meters.

True to its name, there was a roaring bonfire in the center of the campfire site.

The bright red flames brought a unique vitality to this monotonously colored land.

Beside the bonfire were some wooden sticks with stones tied to them; these sticks varied in length, but judging by their color and texture, they were clearly quite old.

Near the bonfire were piles of wild fruits and dried meat, as well as a large pile of wood and stones.

Just as Zhao Feng was marveling at the campfire site that had suddenly appeared before him, a tall, disheveled old man suddenly appeared by the bonfire.

This old man was draped in a piece of blue linen cloth and held a wooden staff with a goat skull tied to it.

He seemed very old, his beard and hair unkempt, revealing only deep wrinkles.

He walked quickly to Zhao Feng, bowed, and said, "Greetings, Leader. The tribe has no residents yet; please produce some as soon as possible."

Xiao Luo was startled by the old man. Even Zhao Feng had to look up at the old man's height of 1.8 meters, let alone Xiao Luo, who was only 1.5 meters tall.

She hid behind Zhao Feng in fear, secretly peeking out with half her head.

Zhao Feng thought for a moment and knew who this old man was; wasn't this just the novice guide?

After all, reality is not a game; without a mouse or keyboard, producing population certainly wouldn't be as simple as clicking on the Town Center!

"How do I produce them?"

"The Leader only needs to think about it in your mind. As long as you are within a radius of five hundred meters, the Town Center can receive the Leader's thoughts," the old man said, stroking his long beard with a smile.

Zhao Feng pondered in his mind, and sure enough, something like a computer screen appeared in his consciousness.

On the screen were the Town Center, Xiao Luo, the old man, and himself.

In the top left corner of the screen was the time: Spring, February 15th, 958 of the Dead Calendar, 17:50 in the afternoon.

Directly above was the age, which was currently the Dark Age.

In the top right corner were the population limit and resources.

The current population limit was 97, and resources were divided into four types: Food, Wood, Stone, and Metal. Each of the four resources had 200 points.

In the center of the screen was a miniature version of the outside world, and in the bottom right corner was the map; the surroundings were pitch black, with only the locations of the Town Center and the Bodhi Spirit Tree being visible.

He mentally clicked on the Town Center on the screen, and the interface changed, revealing the production menu.

Farmer: 10 Food.

To prevent any accidents, Zhao Feng only produced three, leaving 170 points of Food.

A progress bar began to appear on the interface, and it didn't look slow.

Exiting the mental interface, Zhao Feng looked at the Town Center in front of him, waiting for the Farmer to appear.

After about ten minutes, the first Farmer gradually solidified beside the bonfire, then stood up and walked to Zhao Feng.

"Leader!"

This was a rugged young man, about 1.7 meters tall, with a sturdy build, wearing a blue linen cloth draped diagonally over his body.

His face was broad, and his long black hair was tied up with a vine. He had an ordinary appearance with thick lips and looked very honest.

Zhao Feng nodded with satisfaction, patted his sturdy shoulder, and smiled, "From now on, you shall be called Zhao Yi. Now go over there and build a house."

After saying this, he pointed not far from the bonfire.

"Very well, Leader."

Zhao Yi rummaged for some tools by the bonfire, gathered a pile of wood and stones, and began to hammer away.

Xiao Luo was very curious about this big brother who had suddenly appeared. She pulled Zhao Feng to Zhao Yi's side and watched him work.

Just like building a normal house, Zhao Yi first used a wooden stick to tamp down the foundation, then continuously tamped broken stones into the soil; it looked slow, but it was actually quite fast.

In a short while, Zhao Yi had tamped down a foundation of about thirty square meters.

Then, he took large wooden sticks with sharpened ends and hammered them rapidly into the ground...

While Zhao Yi was working diligently, another Farmer condensed by the bonfire.

This was a woman, also wearing linen clothes, with an ordinary appearance, whom Zhao Feng named Qian Yi.

Qian Yi quickly found tools and joined Zhao Yi in building the house.

Zhao Feng was not in a hurry, watching the two work diligently; compared to the game, it was indeed much more realistic.

Another Farmer joined the construction team; this was a man, who was named Sun Yi.

The three of them built for about twenty minutes, and a beautiful little thatched cottage appeared.

The structure of the little thatched cottage was very simple, with dry wooden boards laid inside; compared to sleeping directly on the ground, the feeling was incomparable.

The house consumed twenty Wood and ten Stone. Zhao Feng didn't want to sleep on the ground anymore, nor did he feel right letting his villagers sleep on the ground, so he built two more houses.

The three of them were building happily, but the old man approached him.

"Leader, I observe that there are no trees nearby, and the consumption of Wood is too great; we should make plans as soon as possible."

That was true. Based on the situation seen from the air, there were no living trees nearby; they were all rotten and could not be used directly.

The Materials for upgrading the Town Center included Wood. If Wood could not be provided, wouldn't the Town Center be useless?

"Do you have a solution, old man?"

The old man stroked his beard and smiled, "That is not difficult. Farmers can be converted into Planters, who specialize in planting trees. However, the land here is too strange; I don't know if the trees can survive."

"The land over there has returned to normal,"

Zhao Feng pointed to the land near the Bodhi Spirit Tree.

"We can plant there. But how should these Planters be converted? How do they appear?"

The old man smiled and called Sun Yi over.

"Shaman, what are your orders?" Sun Yi put down his work, walked over quickly, and asked in confusion.

The old man, who was the Shaman, did not speak. He placed his withered hand on Sun Yi's forehead and muttered some strange phrases.

At first, Sun Yi was bewildered, but then his expression changed, and a light of wisdom appeared in his eyes.

"Go, child!" the Shaman smiled kindly and patted Sun Yi.

Sun Yi strode toward the bonfire, found a dirty animal skin bag, and then walked in the direction of the Bodhi Spirit Tree.

Clapping his hands, the Shaman said, "Haven't Planters always existed? They can plant trees, gather mushrooms, and harvest Wood. Does the Leader actually not know?"

Zhao Feng broke into a cold sweat. It seemed that when constructing the System, he had accidentally integrated some things from other games. In other words, this was not necessarily exactly the same as age of empires. What a memory!

Soon the houses were completed. It was approaching dusk, so Zhao Feng let everyone go to the bonfire to get food and eat, while he sat on the side, gnawing on an unknown fruit.

It wasn't delicious, so he just had a quick meal and arranged for two Farmers to build a Barracks.

The Barracks cost a total of 100 Stone and 100 Wood. The two went off to build it with a banging sound, and Zhao Feng also quickly checked the transformation points on the main System.

Because the animal legion had not stopped working while Zhao Feng was constructing the subsystem, he had now gained another two hundred plus transformation points.

Strangely, why had the population limit of the age of empires subsystem also increased? What was the connection between them?
