52: Chapter 52 The Divided Wolf Tribe, Zhao Feng Returns to the Tribe

Meng fought fiercely, not knowing how many stone axes he had broken. His injured body was slowly recovering under the radiance of the Buddha-light, and it wasn't until he stumbled that he realized he had fought his way to the end.

On both sides of the city wall, warriors and Wolf People were locked in a desperate struggle. Both sides, blinded by the bloodlust of battle, had gone berserk, disregarding their own lives. When their axes broke, they used their teeth to bite, determined to take an enemy with them even in death.

The Wolf Chief's beautiful fur was covered in wounds, and he had given up on hunting down those strange humans.

Those people stood on high platforms, and with a wave of their hands, ice arrows, fireballs, vines, and throwing discs would appear, leaving him in a sorry state and causing him to be injured if he wasn't careful.

The enraged Wolf Chief took his anger out on the others, killing anyone he grabbed; no one could withstand a single blow from him.

"I will fight you!"

Meng saw the Wolf Chief, and his eyes lit up instantly. This Wolf Person was tall and burly with glossy fur; it was clear at a glance that he was a big shot among the Wolf People.

A strong wind attacked, and the Wolf Chief turned his head to swipe with his claws, but he was knocked back by a punch. He couldn't help but let out a soft exclamation of surprise and turned his head back.

This tall human was extremely burly, looking just like an iron tower.

His dark skin was covered in the blood and entrails of his own kind; he looked like a worthy opponent.

The Wolf Chief licked his claws, leaped, and landed on all fours, rushing over at high speed.

Meng glanced out of the corner of his eye and saw a thick wooden club on the ground. His eyes brightened as he snatched it up and swung it in a fierce, sweeping strike.

The vicious wind of the club made the Wolf Chief flinch. He slapped the ground with his paws and leaped into the air, dodging the sweeping wooden club.

"Hah!" Meng twisted his waist, using the momentum to arc the wooden club diagonally upward, then brought it down in a chopping strike.

The Wolf Chief had just landed and, seeing the huge wooden club strike down at his head, had no choice but to roll on the ground.

The club missed and slammed into the ground with a boom. The city wall trembled, and the hard wooden floorboards were shattered directly.

The Wolf Chief took the opportunity to lunge forward. Meng pushed the wooden club forward, let go, shifted into a punch, and thrust it out.

Meng did not know any fist techniques, but even this simple straight punch was immensely powerful. The Wolf Chief dodged to the side and swiped with a claw.

Meng let out a cold snort, retracted his right fist, and blocked with his left, parrying the claw.

The two fought back and forth for over a hundred rounds, still evenly matched.

On the other side, because Meng had pinned down the powerful Wolf Chief, the others began to sweep through the Wolf People.

With these peak Rank warriors participating, the Wolf People had to retreat steadily, leaving behind a pile of corpses.

"Woo... woo..." The wails of the Wolf People could be heard everywhere.

The Wolf Chief was shocked. In his busy struggle, he looked back and saw that his three hundred or so Wolf People had dwindled to a scattered few.

Distracted, the Wolf Chief was caught off guard and struck hard in the chest by Meng's fist, spraying out a mouthful of foul blood.

"Retreat!" The Wolf Chief no longer had the heart to fight and turned to flee.

"Pursue!" Meng ordered loudly.

The warriors fiercely pursued the scattered and fleeing Wolf People. The Wolf Chief managed to gather only twenty or so remnants and fled far away.

The largest group of fleeing Wolf People was about to be caught, but the scout cavalry's horses suddenly fell into a massive pit trap. For a moment, there was a chaotic scene of men shouting and horses neighing, which allowed those stragglers to escape.

With cold, dark eyes looking at the tribe not far away, a young voice whispered: "Let's go!" Behind him were a hundred or so dejected stragglers.

A tragic victory!

Casualties: 110 warriors, 72 spear-throwers, 34 auxiliary troops.

Battle Results: 145 Wolf People eliminated, some warriors' Rank increased, warriors need to rest.

Zhao Feng, who was rushing toward the tribe, received the System notification.

Zhao Feng, who had just intended to use the Wolf People to test the waters, felt a pang of heartache. So many warriors lost; those damn Wolf People, don't let me run into you! He even regretted letting those two Wolf People go.

By the time he arrived at the tribe, it had been nearly twenty minutes since the battle ended.

"Leader!" The warriors and villagers he met along the way looked at him with reverence.

Watching several warriors with severed limbs stumble up to salute, Zhao Feng couldn't help but feel deeply guilty. For a moment, he couldn't speak, only stepping forward to support the warriors and help them sit down.

"Leader, you've finally returned."

The white-haired Shaman dragged his exhausted body over, and seeing Zhao Feng from afar, he hurriedly shouted.

"Shaman, assemble the monks immediately to treat the warriors." Zhao Feng was anxious and had forgotten that he could command the monks directly through the System while in the tribe.

The Shaman shook his head and said: "Leader, the monks are all exhausted and fainted; only Great Master Wugou is still treating the wounded."

"Let's go, let's take a look."

The villagers spontaneously walked out of their homes and joined the fatigued warriors to clean up the battlefield.

Corpse after corpse was transported to the square in front of the barracks. The bodies of the Wolf People were placed in one pile, and the giant wolves were placed on the other side, left to be skinned and gutted later to be made into food.

There was no crying, no tears, only silent solemnity.

Every time a Great Qin warrior was carried over, the carriers would thump their chests hard to show their respect.

Zhao Feng walked over and, ignoring the rising transformation points, joined the transport team. This team included the Shaman, Meng, Daoist Master Xuan Kong, Xiao Luo...

In the tribe's graveyard for the heroic spirits, there were many more new graves.

After handling the post-battle affairs, it was already late at night. Zhao Feng did not meditate to practice Qi tonight but stayed alone for a long, long time.

"Meng, from today on, teach the Centipede-Piercing Spear Technique to the entire army."

Early the next morning, Zhao Feng gathered everyone in the center of the tribe and issued the order.

"Yes." Meng stood up and bowed in response.

"Shaman, hurry up and mine the copper, and by the way, build a road over there. The Wolf People won't be able to come for a while, but be wary of Corpse Beasts."

"Understood, Leader."

Zhao Feng nodded and said: "During this trip, I learned of a situation. Mysterious powers have already appeared in this world, so the world will become increasingly dangerous in the future. We must prepare beforehand. Additionally, once the Hero Altar is ready, upgrade it directly; there is no need to inform me."

"Yes!"

Zhao Feng was about to let everyone disperse, but Meng stepped forward and bowed: "Leader, a battle flag has suddenly condensed in the barracks these past few days. Please, Leader, make a decision."

Meng took a small triangular flag from his chest and presented it.

Zhao Feng took it. It was a black flag the size of a palm, seemingly made of brocade, with a small character for 'Qin' on it.

"What is this?" Zhao Feng was a bit puzzled. The System had no dialogue function, so who could explain it?

"Leader, this is a flag that condenses the battle Soul. The warriors who died in battle will leave their Evil Qi and will on the battle flag. Their Soul will return to their faith, which is you, Leader. You will understand its wondrous uses once you have used it."

It was the Shaman who stepped forward and spoke at length.

Zhao Feng suddenly realized. The Shaman was the guide of the age of empires System and naturally knew everything about the System like the back of his hand.

"How often can one of these battle flags appear?" Hearing what the Shaman said, this battle flag was a good treasure, and Zhao Feng was naturally a bit greedy.

"Leader, this type of battle flag will appear every time there are heavy casualties of a hundred men. This is the condensation of the warriors' final will. Leader, you must cherish its use." The Shaman said with a solemn expression.

Zhao Feng said solemnly: "That is natural, please rest assured, Shaman."

"Leader, we shall take our leave."

Watching everyone leave, Zhao Feng looked quietly at the small flag in his hand and suddenly felt that the lightweight flag in his hand was incomparably heavy.
