51: Chapter 51 The Seemingly Powerful Wolf Leader: Fierce Offense and Defense

The volcano in the distance had stopped erupting, and the occasional minor earthquakes had also ceased.

It looked like the visibility around the Qin Tribe would greatly improve in a day or two at most; if there was rain, it might even be earlier.

This was not a bad thing for the tribe; as long as they survived this night, the threat of the werewolves would be greatly reduced.

With the Chief absent, the Shaman felt immense pressure. The morale of the tribe's army and civilians would not be affected, but the allied forces needed confidence.

Therefore, the Shaman spent the whole day acting calm and composed, issuing orders with confidence, which put the allies greatly at ease.

"Every platoon must strengthen their guard, pay attention to rotating shifts, and remain vigilant at all times." The Shaman wearily inspected the city defenses, yet still had to put on a relaxed appearance.

"Yes! Shaman!"

"Werewolves could raid from anywhere at any time. The watchtowers have limited visibility, so we must set up more mobile units and remain alert at all times," Meng said, bowing.

The Shaman helped Meng up and said, "I do not understand military matters; the safety of the tribe depends on you."

"Rest assured, Shaman, I will make sure they never return."

Inside the Town Center, the Shaman, Meng, and other senior leaders were discussing countermeasures, but with the enemy situation unclear, they could only respond to changes with consistency.

The Wolf Chief, hiding in the shadows, looked at the brightly lit Qin Tribe and licked his lips, saying, "Charge straight in and kill everyone!"

"Awoo!" A wolf howl rose to the sky.

The overwhelming number of werewolves rushed out with howls. The low city walls were not a problem in their eyes; inside were food, females, and everything they wanted.

"Woo... Woo!" The guarding soldiers blew the animal horn.

The giant bonfires burning outside the city walls exposed the attacking werewolves to the defenders without any cover.

The first to open fire were the spearmen on the watchtowers.

The watchtowers were higher than the city walls, and the stone spears thrown from above had great power.

The werewolves were swarming the city like ants, dense and everywhere.

Every stone spear hit its mark, pinning the werewolves to the ground.

The four watchtowers were garrisoned by only eight spearmen, with large piles of stone spears on the platforms. The spearmen threw the spears without hesitation, and in a short while, they had pinned several werewolves to death.

The werewolves, lacking ranged attacks, had no way to counter this. The watchtowers were set within the perimeter walls, about seven or eight meters high, and one had to climb the wall to attack the spearmen on top.

The Wolf Chief was indifferent to the deaths of the werewolf infantry; to him, they were just cannon fodder. Soon, they would breach the tribe, and that would be the best time for the Wolf Cavalry to strike.

"Throw!"

The spearmen guarding the city wall happened to be one platoon. Facing the overwhelming charge of the werewolf infantry, they were fearless. Under the command of their platoon leader, they threw their spears with all their might.

Forty-one stone spears took the lives of over a dozen werewolves. After this round, they entered close-quarters combat. Blood splattered everywhere, but the werewolves remained fearless of death!

The Wolf Chief frowned; such weapons caused great harm to them. Not a single person in this tribe could be left alive.

The appearance of ranged weapons was indeed a threat to the melee-dependent werewolves, and the threat had to be nipped in the bud.

"Huben First Platoon, move forward, prepare!"

Captain Platoon Leader Xu Feng shouted the order. As a warrior who had experienced cruel battles, he understood what would happen next, and he was full of confidence in his subordinates.

After the army expanded, Platoon Leader Xu Feng was promoted to Captain due to his bravery in battle.

"Prepare!"

Guarding the wall with them were fifty warriors from the Twenty-Seventh Tribe. Under the command of broken Chinese, they also stood in disarray in front of the parapets, ready to engage the enemy.

The wooden city wall was only a little over a meter wide. Fighting on the wall made it impossible to form formations; they could only rely on their own courage and experience to fight. When meeting on a narrow path, the brave win; the Great Qin warriors would never retreat!

"Quick! Quick!"

Several platoons acting as mobile forces ran quickly under the urging of their platoon leaders. The city wall ahead would soon engage the enemy, and they had to speed up to be prepared for any contingency.

On the watchtowers, several Daoists appeared quietly, replacing the exhausted warriors who could no longer throw spears. They were waiting for orders.

Below the city wall, several monks gathered brilliant Buddha light in their hands, ready at any time to heal the warriors on the walls.

"Roar!" The first werewolf charged onto the city wall. He swatted a warrior away and opened his mouth to bite down on a stone axe that was swinging toward him.

"Ah!"

Even the bravest warriors would feel pain when injured, and would scream before death.

Two werewolf infantrymen grabbed a warrior's thigh and neck respectively, and with a forceful tear, ripped the warrior apart. Blood flowed all over the ground, and various internal organs were scattered everywhere.

Several allied warriors looked fearful and couldn't help but run toward the back, only to be hacked to death by Platoon Leader Xu Feng and his men who rushed over.

"Kill the enemy!"

Platoon Leader Xu Feng struck a werewolf on the forehead with his axe. The werewolf let out a muffled groan and fell to the ground, but the stone axe in Platoon Leader Xu Feng's hand also shattered with a snap.

He did not change his expression, took a new stone axe from his personal guard, and led his men to kill.

From time to time, warriors were killed, and from time to time, werewolves fell.

The Wolf Chief in the distance had long since charged over with the Wolf Cavalry. His giant mount wolf leaped lightly and jumped onto the city wall.

The Wolf Chief tore a warrior apart with one claw and let out a long howl, looking quite domineering; all that was missing was a bright moon.

The Wolf Chief saw the moon. The moon emitted a blinding, sharp Qi, shining brightly like a pool of autumn water.

He was taken aback and hurriedly fell backward.

The blinding moon flew past, shaving off a few hairs. This was no moon; it was clearly a Killing Intent-filled metal elemental flying disc.

The flying disc crashed behind him and vanished in the blink of an eye.

The Wolf Chief looked up and saw several people holding bamboo staves on the watchtower, looking at him coldly. Under the light of the torches, their faces seemed hidden and visible.

"Roar!" The Wolf Chief roared angrily and was about to step forward. Unexpectedly, he suddenly felt another shiver down his spine. Not daring to hesitate, he rolled off his mount.

While rolling, he could see two huge fireballs slam into the giant wolf.

"Awoo!" The rising flames ignited the giant wolf's fur, causing it to wail in pain. It turned and jumped off the city wall, running into the distance with a growing ball of fire.

The Wolf Chief was dumbfounded; had his litter-mate beast kin just left like that?

It had abandoned him and run away!

No matter, he still had a large group of werewolf warriors! A very large group!

"Eh! Why are there so few left!" The Wolf Chief looked back and discovered that the originally dense crowd of werewolves had decreased significantly, leaving only a small group. In these short few seconds, what on earth had happened?

The Great Qin high-level leaders who had rushed over at top speed blocked the advancing werewolves. Their peak Mortal-level strength made them more than capable of facing the werewolves.

Moreover, among them were warriors, archers, Daoists, and monks, whose professions were highly complementary; gathered together, they erupted with powerful combat strength.

Ordinary werewolves were only at the middle Mortal-level, and the few rare elites reached the upper-level strength. Facing the First Platoon warriors who were also middle-level and the few high-level leaders at the peak, they were truly unable to cope!

In front of this battlefield where the sounds of slaughter shook the sky, at a certain spot in front of the city wall, a piece of land suddenly collapsed, and some huge figures rushed out from within.
