36: Chapter 36 Returns, the Tribe Awaits Upgrade

The water in this winding little river mainly came from the snowmelt on the high mountain peaks.

At this moment, the mountain where Zhao Feng and the others were located was at least 4,000 meters above sea level by Earth's measurements, and the peak of this mountain had perennial ice and snow that never melted.

Whenever the weather warmed up and the ice and snow melted, the snowmelt would flow downwards along various waterways carved out over countless years, eventually converging in a low-lying area to form the little river.

This little river nourished the myriad creatures nearby; it was the little river where Zhao Feng's tribe was located.

The Wolf Tribe was situated on a flat area naturally formed by the mountain.

This flat area relied on a nearby waterway and had once been a paradise for animals and plants in earlier years.

However, due to severe corpse-ification of the vegetation, the nearby corpse-ified plants had been completely cleared away by the Wolf Tribe, leaving only bare rocky cliffs and the earth.

The Wolf People slept on the ground, using the sky as their quilt and the earth as their bed, so there were no large buildings in the tribe's location; the only things slightly conspicuous were wooden stakes.

Looking from afar, these wooden stakes were densely and chaotically stuck into the ground.

Each wooden stake also had some humanoid creatures tied to it with ropes; these humanoid creatures were of varying heights and different races.

The Wolf People slept messily among them; some Wolf People walked back and forth, some were quarreling, and others were eating.

The Wolf People did not know how to use fire, so their eating scenes were incredibly bloody.

A Wolf Person pulled over a tall humanoid creature tied to a wooden stake, dragged it just two steps, and amidst the creature's weak struggles, bit through its throat in one bite, drinking the thick, bright red blood.

The humanoid creature twitched weakly twice, and its limbs hung down powerlessly.

The Wolf Person let out a loud howl, with blood from the corners of its mouth dripping onto its chest, making it look like a demon from Hell.

A few smaller Wolf People fawned and prostrated themselves on the ground; the tall Wolf Person casually tore off a thigh and threw it in front of the few Wolf People, who then pounced on it, flesh and blood flying everywhere—the scene was extremely bloody.

Zhao Feng did not look any further; these were just a bunch of beasts!

The Wolf People had no tents or houses, so he could only make a rough estimate.

Counting the young Wolf People, the entire Wolf Tribe had about three hundred members; the Wolf Tribe was a nation of soldiers, which was a huge number.

Zhao Feng's tribe was completely no match for such an enemy!

Should he directly transform an invincible creature to wipe them out?

With a heavy heart, Zhao Feng carefully returned with Meng; the group continued to cautiously avoid any patrolling Wolf Cavalry that might appear as they hurried back to the tribe; the four Kelo People had already completely surrendered, so there was no need to let them go back.

Zhao Feng was deep in thought along the way.

This Wolf Tribe could be considered the current great enemy, and they were vicious by nature; should he transform a super creature to destroy it?

After the transformations during the novice period on Taichu Star and the current transformation experiences on the Planet of the Dead, Zhao Feng already had some of his own understanding regarding the so-called transformation points.

In his view, transformation points were similar to a Soul, so different creatures had different transformation points.

And using transformation points to transform creatures was actually adding a Soul to the new creature, which was why those super creatures were so powerful—it was due to having a strong Soul.

The transformation points at the beginning on Taichu Star came from mission rewards, but after the mission System was closed, the source of transformation points was only the increase in creature species.

Taichu Star, benefiting from the effect of time adjustment, had obtained a massive amount of transformation points.

However, there was an upper limit to the creatures a planet could accommodate, so the number of transformation points must also have its own planetary limit; the Planet of the Dead was the same.

The creatures on the Planet of the Dead had entered an apocalypse, the ecology had lost control, and the species of creatures were decreasing day by day.

If the ecosystem could not be rebuilt, one day all creatures would perish.

It could be said that every single transformation point was very important, which was why Zhao Feng had been planting various grass seeds and plants to try to restore the ecology.

Before the ecology was restored, using transformation points was very dangerous; once the ecosystem could not be balanced, those transformation points would be wasted in vain, and planting the planet tree would be even more impossible.

And the creation of skills should be related to the native creatures, meaning that native creatures all had the same evolutionary starting point; skills were actually abilities they had evolved or had already forgotten.

Such skills could be completely in Fusion with the creature, just like the Thunder Flying Flood Dragon's lightning, which originated from electric eels.

Some skills were enhancements of abilities that the creatures already possessed, such as the Four-Seasons Fruit Fir's year-round fruiting.

Like the Bodhi Spirit Tree and the Spirit Light Bacteria's light of spirituality, they actually did not deviate from this framework; plants originally had the ability to purify.

On Taichu Star, being able to transform as one wished was inseparable from the abundance of creature samples.

Furthermore, that place was naturally Zhao Feng's life-bound planet and had its own uniqueness.

The Planet of the Dead was different; this was the first ordinary planet Zhao Feng faced, and he also needed to plant a planet tree here.

The planet tree would consume all the transformation points; if he used too many transformation points now, what would he do when it came time to plant the planet tree?

He should just discard the idea of transforming a super creature!

Of course, Zhao Feng still had one move, which could serve as his bottom line.

That was to create a targeted virus to directly exterminate the Wolf People, but considering the problem of ecological imbalance, this could only serve as a final trump card; for now, he would rely on the sub-System.

No one dared to disturb Zhao Feng, who was lost in thought, until they stopped to camp, when he finally woke from his contemplation.

It was already dark, and the group did not continue forward, finding a slightly flat spot by the river to camp.

Zhao Feng and the others quickly ate their dry rations, not caring about the envious Kelo People.

Except for the siblings Leah and Tim who had completely mingled with Xiao Luo, the four, Lady Luo Ha and the others, still did not dare to communicate with Zhao Feng and his group; firstly, because of the language barrier, and secondly, because they had been shocked by the slaughter that day.

Therefore, the four of them silently ate the water mushrooms they carried; they didn't need to turn these in anyway, and for four people, it wasn't much to eat, plus they hadn't been this full in a long time.

After finishing his meal, Meng rested for a while, then picked up his wooden spear and began to practice the Centipede-Piercing Spear Technique; seeing him so diligent, Zhao Feng couldn't help but feel ashamed.

He also began to patrol the surroundings, using his Martial Skill to shatter some corpse-ified creatures one by one; firstly, he could obtain transformation points, and secondly, he could increase his proficiency.

Because of the traveling, Tree Flight had already entered the realm of "Initial Mastery," which was the second Martial Skill to enter the second stage.

The other skills could not be left behind; Zhao Feng practiced while earning transformation points, and with undivided attention, he soon patrolled more than a hundred meters around the camp before meeting up with Meng and returning, covered in sweat.

After the routine practice, Zhao Feng instructed the animals to pay attention to the surroundings before finally falling asleep.

The night passed without incident, and dawn soon arrived.

It was another dry day! The group continued on their way and finally arrived at a familiar yet strange place that afternoon.

"This... isn't this my tribe? How did it become like this?" Looking at everything before him, Zhao Feng's face was full of disbelief.

The group of Kelo People also looked stunned; how long had it been since they had seen these things? How beautiful! Could it be a dream?

Lady Luo Ha suddenly felt her nose sour, and tears streamed down her face.

A man walked forward gently, touched the rough skin, and muttered: "It's real, this is real!"

His voice gradually grew louder, and in the end, it was practically hoarse with emotion.

Xiao Luo, Leah, and Tim, however, had no reaction; they looked in surprise at these excited Kelo People—did they have some kind of illness?

Meng, however, had an indifferent expression; he had already seen the wooden wall hidden in the distant area behind the forest—that was his tribe, the place he had sworn to defend.
