22: Chapter 22 The Sword Ant Legion: Incompatible as Water and Fire

Before the monster could react, the dust on the ground suddenly burst open, and several slender bodies shot out, tightly binding the monster's feet and limbs—the Iron Thread Worms had arrived.

The Iron Thread Worm is a type of insect that lives underground, no different from modern earthworms, and loves to eat soil rich in humus.

Their bodies are as tough as iron wire and extremely sturdy, hence the name.

The creatures automatically named by the System after extracting the host's memories also have notes in the System, and Zhao Feng can see the information of these creatures while watching them battle the monster.

Filled with grief and indignation, Zhao Feng used all his strength to urge the nearby reinforcements in his consciousness.

Watching batches of creatures sacrifice themselves fearlessly, he was deeply shaken, and the countdown time seemed to move slower and slower.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Thunder and fire splashed everywhere, but the monster's figure remained agile. It vibrated its body like lightning, and several Iron Thread Worms had their bodies broken, with fragments flying everywhere.

Boom! The monster slammed its tail into the ground, its body ejected like a spring, flying into the sky like a bullet, reaching the Flying Flood Dragon in an instant.

The Flying Flood Dragon had just been filled with grief and indignation and was too close to the ground. Caught off guard, it was actually tightly grabbed by the monster's limbs.

The monster's gourd-like mouthparts opened, biting onto the Flying Flood Dragon's bat wings.

With a crisp crack, the Flying Flood Dragon's relatively fragile wing bones were bitten through at the shoulder.

It could no longer maintain its body and fell like a meteorite, smashing a huge pit into the ground, with dust filling the air for a moment.

Both were extraordinary creatures after all, with super tenacious vitality.

Before Zhao Feng and the surrounding animals could react, a fierce battle erupted in the pit again.

Electric light flashed; the Thunder Flying Flood Dragon erupted with all its Thunder Qi, engaging in close-quarters combat with the monster.

This monster did not know what its origins were, but it could actually kill the extremely tiny Evolutionary Spirit. Therefore, even with the Thunder Flying Flood Dragon's powerful offensive, it and the monster were merely trading damage, and the Flying Flood Dragon seemed far from being the monster's match.

Only a loud bang was heard; the Flying Flood Dragon's huge body was also sent flying into the sky, falling far away, and the monster erupted with a violent, fierce, and sharp screech.

Rustle, rustle, rustle...

Just at this moment, a dense sound erupted, overwhelming the sky.

Looking from the sky, a silver river poured down; even looking into the distance, one could not see the end.

Looking closer, what kind of river was this? It was clearly ants the size of thumbs.

One of the strongest collectives on Taichu Star currently—the Sword Ant Legion—had finally arrived.

Sword Ants are very similar to army ants; they rely on their billions in number to defeat any opponent. As long as they are creatures on the ground, few can escape the Sword Ants' pursuit.

Sword Ants are silvery-white all over, with a pair of very sharp mandibles. They have three pairs of limbs and are very fast.

Sword Ants like to eat metal, especially silver metal, which is their favorite.

They are filled with immense Metal Qi, and their mandibles are indestructible. Only the Earth Fire Dragon Snake, which also lives underground, can treat them as a delicacy.

But even the Earth Fire Dragon Snake would not dare to easily provoke this Sword Ant Legion, which numbers in the billions. When the quantity reaches a certain level, it has already caused a qualitative change.

The pouring Sword Ant army wrapped around the monster like a tide. For a moment, one could not see the monster's appearance, only a silver sphere constantly fluctuating.

Every time black fire gushed out, the silver light faded, but as soon as the black fire disappeared, the silver followed.

Every second, tens of thousands of Sword Ants died, but more Sword Ants rushed forward one after another, in a desperate, fearless charge!

The entire battlefield became a solo performance for the Sword Ants, while the other animals blocked the road to the Mother Tree from afar, watching the battle from a distance.

More Sword Ants gradually arrived. The monster was like a small pebble dropped into a silver sea; although it stirred up a trace of black waves every second, it looked so tiny.

The number of times the black fire rose became fewer and fewer, and the situation looked very good.

The monster also seemed to understand that if this continued, it would definitely be a dead end, so it began to change its strategy.

It no longer wasted energy; the black fire only covered a thin layer around its body, and it accelerated toward the direction of the Mother Tree!

It wanted to get rid of the Sword Ants' encirclement.

A single Sword Ant and the monster had a huge disparity in strength, and for a time, the Sword Ants could not break its defense, so they could only let the monster charge.

There was a commotion in the animal group. A group of Yuanjiao Lizards lowered their heads, nostrils blowing out coarse, low snorts, their limbs kicking hard, digging up dust that filled the sky, and they rushed over with a rumble.

Their thick, single horns shone with a cold, sinister light. The Yuanjiao Lizard group rushed forward like a speeding train.

Boom, boom...

The massive Yuanjiao Lizard group was thrown in all directions like rags.

The monster could do nothing against the dense Sword Ants, but dealing with normal animals was still easy.

But the animal army followed closely behind like a tide.

Just as the Yuanjiao Lizard group retreated, several Giant Gold Beetles arrived with a rumble like tanks.

The Giant Gold Beetle is a kind of equally huge beetle, a bit like a giant version of a ladybug. They are covered in thick armor, physically strong, and tireless.

Even with the monster's monstrous strength, it only knocked the Giant Gold Beetles back a few steps, but its momentum was stopped there, and the huge animal legion submerged it.

Among these animals were all kinds of strange insects, reptiles with great endurance, and extraordinary beasts that had initially mastered spiritual power.

Every second, four or five animals were knocked flying, but more animals rushed in. There were countless other animals limited by the small contact area of the battlefield, waving their claws on the periphery, impatient.

Awoo! The monster suddenly let out a long, wild roar.

The black-red substance flowing under its bone armor suddenly erupted with fierce red light.

I saw a dazzling point of light with it as the center, suddenly erupting violently toward the surroundings! Dark red flames sprayed in all directions.

The movements of the thousands of surrounding animals suddenly stalled, then turned into charcoal, and turned into fly ash with the impact!

Even the Sword Ant Legion's offensive, which was like a tidal wave, was intercepted. The Sword Ant Legion was like a cake that had been bitten, suddenly losing nearly one-tenth!

The sacrifice of thousands of creatures shocked Zhao Feng, and their fearless, heroic charging figures seemed to become taller.

Although they did not have high intelligence, nor did they have beautiful appearances.

But they were well-deserved warriors, defenders of their home. Everything they did for Taichu Star would be firmly remembered by future generations, becoming a mythical epic passed down through the ages.

Zhao Feng's game-like mentality gradually shifted, and he gradually viewed these creatures as his own people.

The battle situation was still critical!

The animals' attacks were suppressed by the erupting flames, making a radius of several kilometers a zone where the monster could move unimpeded. It continued to charge!

Zhao Feng used his consciousness to communicate with the two late-arriving armies, continuing to attack the monster!

Hum, hum, hum...

A piece of overwhelming fire cloud flew from the other side of the mountain. No sooner said than done.

This fire cloud arrived in the blink of an eye. One could see that this was no cloud, but some large locusts the size of fists!

These large locusts were 80% similar in appearance to Earth locusts, but they only had two strong legs.

They like to live in magma and feed on the minerals in the magma.

This group of Fire Locusts lived in a volcano not far away, and the tribe was very prosperous.

The locust swarm flew toward the monster like a group of bombers, without getting close.

They only flicked their abdomens above the monster, and a mass of bright red, crystalline jelly-like substance flew down, smearing the monster all over.

These jelly-like substances were very unstable. While the monster was busy scrambling to clear them off, it suddenly burst into raging flames with a bang.

The monster was born with the ability to control fire, so it didn't care that it was burned red; instead, it roared happily and moved forward quickly.

Zhao Feng gave an order in his consciousness, and another group of creatures approached rapidly.

That was also a group of aerial creatures.

They had crystal-clear bodies, snake-like in appearance, but with a pair of equally crystal-clear bat wings growing below the neck—these were the Winged Snakes from the underground ice lake.

Just as the flames burning on the monster were about to burn out, the Winged Snake group opened their mouths and sprayed streams of blue-white breath.

These breaths were extremely cold, being streams of extreme cold freezing air.

The monster's bone armor had just been burned red, and this freezing air came one after another, instantly reducing its body surface temperature from over a thousand degrees to below zero, with swooshing sounds incessant.

Accompanied by water vapor were the cracking sounds of shattering. The bone armor could finally no longer bear the weight and shattered.

Awoo, awoo! The monster was in extreme pain, but it seemed to have a mission in its heart that it would not stop until it achieved its goal, and it still rushed rapidly toward the Mother Tree.

Taishi Planet rose into the sky, and the earth was as bright as day.

The animal groups following one after another were still pursuing fiercely. The monster had shown signs of decline; it was conserving its strength! After another long while, it was already covered in scars.

Finally, it finally saw the emerald phantom in the distance! The phantom was gradually solidifying, and in a daze, one could discover that it was a curved tree.

Although it had already seen the final goal, it couldn't help but let out a roar of despair!
