34: Chapter 34 Encounter
Lady Luo Ha felt like she had terrible luck. As one of the two people most valued by the leader, she felt her abilities were not inferior to her arch-rival, Xiya.
Whether in appearance or ability, she was confident she surpassed Xiya by a long shot, so why was she the one Xiya dumped this miserable task onto?
The Wolf Tribe were not good people; these hungry wolves were simply a mistake of the Creator. They not only had filthy males as leaders, but they also ate people.
Those wolf-headed monsters were both savage and ferocious, and Lady Luo Ha absolutely did not want to deal with them.
As one of the top figures of power among the Kelo People, Lady Luo Ha knew the true nature of these wolf-headed monsters clearly.
In the past, the Kelo People were a large tribe with many people. They gathered fruits from the forest, and plant seeds and tubers from the grasslands for food, and resources were abundant.
Life was wonderful; every woman could freely use the dirty men, and under the leadership of the leader Maiya, life was truly blissful.
But once the Wolf Tribe arrived, everything changed.
At first, they were wary of the tribe's many males, but after discovering that those men were just weaklings, their greedy nature was exposed.
The Wolf Tribe launched a war!
How could the Kelo People, who lived in an area with few wild beasts, be a match for the Wolf Tribe? Those tall mount wolves and the wolf-men sitting high atop them, emitting strong bad breath, were simply demons from Hell.
They ate the men and took away the women.
Fortunately, the apocalypse occurred at this time, and large numbers of Kelo People and wolf-men warriors turned into Corpse Beasts.
These Corpse Beasts turned any living creature around them into their own kind.
Under external pressure, the leader Maiya and the Wolf Tribe leader reached a consensus to cease hostilities and prioritize self-preservation.
The Kelo People finally found a valley to recuperate. Although resources were gradually becoming scarce, they could still barely make ends meet.
But the good times didn't last long; the Wolf Tribe found them.
The wolf-men brought a type of mushroom called water mushroom, which could grow rapidly. The wolf-men wanted the Kelo People to grow water mushrooms for them.
Every thirty sunsets, they would make the Kelo People deliver water mushrooms.
Once they couldn't meet their requirements, they would make the Kelo People choose between handing over people or death. Such days were truly unbearable.
The boy this time was precisely the price for failing to deliver enough water mushrooms.
The funny thing was that the few men following the escort actually thought the boy was being sent to become a warrior. Little did they know, this boy was just a piece of meat.
Along the way, Lady Luo Ha had not had a pleasant expression.
She really couldn't figure out what she could do to return from the Wolf Tribe unscathed.
It was said that wolf-men were a very lecherous type of monster. They would abduct any humanoid female, then mate with them, and after the young were born, they would eat these females. It could be said they had no humanity at all.
Hopefully these wolf-men would keep their promise, Lady Luo Ha could only think as such.
After a trek from sunrise to near sunset, Lady Luo Ha and the others finally arrived here.
If it were in the past, they could have gone to the nearby small lake to drink some water and rested for a while under the shade of a big tree.
Before, the most common wild beast here was only the Leopard Dog. It was a type of animal that looked powerful but was actually very timid. Lady Luo Ha estimated she could take on two of them alone.
"Roar!"
Just as she was walking along, lost in thought, a figure suddenly lunged out from the grass. Two powerful front paws pressed down on her shoulders, and its hind legs stepped on her thighs, slamming her violently to the ground.
Sharp canine teeth probed at her throat, and waves of hot breath sprayed from its nostrils. The shadow of death instantly enveloped her.
"Ah!" Lady Luo Ha let out a sharp scream.
She struggled to flail her arms and legs, wanting to break free from the Leopard Dog's suppression.
The Leopard Dog let out a low, threatening growl, its mouth full of sharp teeth clamping onto Lady Luo Ha's neck. If she dared to move again, the Leopard Dog would crush her throat in the next second.
Her clansmen only just reacted now, roaring continuously while holding their clubs, but they dared not approach.
Another Leopard Dog jumped over elegantly, blocking the space between Lady Luo Ha and her clansmen.
Its beautiful long tail was held high, and its glowing green vertical pupils stared at the few Kelo People. Once they made any move, they would surely face the Leopard Dog's fierce attack.
At this moment, Lady Luo Ha was full of regret. If not for her being distracted and walking at the very back of the group, she wouldn't have encountered danger.
In the few years since the apocalypse, it had become increasingly difficult to encounter living creatures in the wild, except for those clumsy Corpse Beasts.
Many people had already forgotten the dangers of the wild!
During the short time waiting for death, she thought of many things...
The Kelo People were not known for combat; they were short and thin, and even the adult males were only about 1.5 meters tall.
Facing a young Leopard Dog, they had to be nervous.
The person most favored by the leader was still under the Leopard Dog's jaws, and they didn't dare to turn and flee. What on earth should they do?
Before they could even think carefully, they heard deafening footsteps. With their rich experience, they knew a large animal had appeared.
What was going on today? Animals that were hard to see in the past were actually appearing one after another.
From the hillside next to them, two behemoths ran down; those were two Hammerhead Rhinos.
But what was shocking was that there were actually humanoid creatures on the backs of the Hammerhead Rhinos!
Astride the back of the leading Hammerhead Rhino was a tall, burly man. This big guy was very tall and strong; every Kelo Person would be oppressed by his might in front of him, after all, the burly man's arms were as thick as their waists.
This burly man was wearing a strange piece of blue animal skin, with his upper body exposed. In one of his hands, he was holding a huge wooden club—or rather, that was a small tree!
The burly man viciously commanded the Hammerhead Rhino to come before them, staring down at them from a high vantage point.
The second Hammerhead Rhino followed closely behind.
Sitting on the back of this Hammerhead Rhino were three people. Two of them looked a bit like Kelo People, while the other one was tall and thin, but didn't look vicious.
"Liya, is that you?"
The little boy whose hands were bound suddenly asked in disbelief. The little girl on the back of the Hammerhead Rhino was wearing beautiful animal skin and was clean.
Her appearance was somewhat similar to Liya's. Looking closely at her features, who else could it be but Liya?
"Tim, my younger brother." The little girl suddenly shed tears. Seeing her younger brother still standing before her unharmed, the danger and suffering she had endured during this time were worth it.
"It's Liya! It really is Liya!" A few Kelo People exclaimed in disbelief, their grip on their wooden clubs loosening.
Lady Luo Ha, who felt like she was dying, also heard the low exclamations of the Kelo People. She dared not move her head, nor did she dare to breathe loudly, and could only worry to herself there.
"Xiao Luo, tell them to drop their weapons and lie on the ground."
"Alright, Master."
The even more beautiful and moving Xiao Luo made the few Kelo People dare not disobey.
In their eyes, this pretty little girl must be the leader of this group. These people possessed the power to control beasts, and they could not afford to offend them.
Meng jumped off the Hammerhead Rhino and picked up the few Kelo People like chicks, moving them to the side. Even Lady Luo Ha, who was under the Leopard Dog, was no exception, which could be considered as rescuing Lady Luo Ha from the sea of misery.
Liya jumped off the Hammerhead Rhino, stepped forward quickly, and untied the rope binding Tim's hands. The siblings were overcome with mixed sorrow and joy, hugging each other and crying loudly.
Zhao Feng didn't bother with them; he brought Xiao Luo to the few Kelo People and said, "Take us to find the Wolf Tribe."
Xiao Luo translated the words for the few Kelo People. The few Kelo People looked at each other and quickly agreed, while Lady Luo Ha was off to the side, head lowered with her eyes darting around, seemingly planning something.
Suddenly, Zhao Feng's expression changed, and he ordered loudly, "Meng, prepare for battle! Xiao Luo, quickly take them up the mountain."
He had one Leopard Dog protect Xiao Luo, held a wooden spear in his hand, and commanded the two Hammerhead Rhinos and the remaining Leopard Dogs to face north.
