144: Chapter 144 Superpower: Metal Throne

"The Superpower is called [Metal Throne], and it can control all metal within a radius of fifty meters."

"Railroad tracks, train carriages, seats, and even the metal accessories on passengers."

"In his world, he is the king of metal; everything becomes a weapon, and with a single thought, it can be turned into a blade."

"The Night Watchers' files record that he can twist a train carriage into a pretzel with his bare hands and turn railroad tracks into spears that can pierce through armored vehicles."

"It is said that he once slaughtered an entire small outpost by himself, tearing the whole building apart into scrap metal. Everyone inside was skewered by steel bars."

"However… they recently had two of their outposts wiped out by Miracle Company, suffering heavy losses, and are now committing crimes while on the run."

Wang Lin listened, his eyes lighting up. The Superpower [Metal Throne]—isn't that the Superpower of the boss from X-Men, Magneto?

Magneto uses magnetic fields to control metal, but this [Metal Throne] can control metal directly without needing a magnetic field as a medium; this is practically an upgraded version.

That's awesome.

In the X-Men movie from his past life, Magneto could control metal, lift the Golden Gate Bridge, and uproot an entire stadium.

He used to dream as a child about how great it would be to have such a Superpower.

How did that song go? "Waited for so long, finally waited until today; dreamed for so long, finally realized the dream..."

If he devoured him, what would he possess?

He could be like Magneto, making bullets hover in mid-air and then reflecting them back.

He could make an enemy's sword uncontrollably pierce into the enemy's own chest.

He could turn an entire train into his weapon.

Wang Lin licked his lips, his eyes filled with desire.

Chu Tian didn't notice the change in Wang Lin's expression; his attention was entirely on the members of the Red Snake Gang, and he kept on chattering: "Wang Lin, listen to me, if they make a move in a moment, hide behind me."

"I am a Reserve Member of the Night Watchers, and I have an obligation to protect the passengers."

"Although I can't beat Iron Demon, I can hold him off while you take the chance to run."

Wang Lin looked at Chu Tian: "You hold him off? Will that work?"

Chu Tian nodded, his voice sounding a bit strained: "Even if I can't hold him off, I have to."

"The first ironclad rule of the Night Watchers—protect the civilians."

"I don't have a badge on my uniform yet, but since I'm wearing this outfit, I am a Night Watcher, and I cannot disgrace the organization."

Wang Lin said: "You're only Level 3, and you want to hold off a Level 6?"

Chu Tian blushed: "That… that is still my duty."

Wang Lin didn't speak again; he saw Chu Tian's hand quietly reach into his pocket and touch a rectangular object, which looked like a phone.

Chu Tian's hand was in his pocket, dialing a number, and the faint light of the screen shone through the fabric. The light only flashed once before going out.

Chu Tian's expression became even uglier: "The signal has been cut. I can't get a call out."

Wang Lin glanced at him without saying anything.

Chu Tian's voice grew lower and lower, so low that he seemed to be talking to himself: "The Night Watchers' files say that Iron Demon used to be a blacksmith in a mining area, and he was buried underground during a mining disaster; everyone thought he was dead."

"Three days later, he crawled out on his own, covered in blood, clutching a piece of ore in his hand, and from then on, he could control metal."

"His left arm was crushed during the mining disaster, so he forged an iron hook out of metal blocks and attached it himself."

"That iron hook is also under his control and is even more agile than a real hand."

"He is not an ordinary person; he is a monster that crawled out of hell."

Wang Lin looked at Iron Demon, a look of greed appearing in his eyes.

A monster? No, monsters never think of themselves as monsters, just like a king on a throne never looks down at the ants beneath his feet.

[Metal Throne], a Superpower that can control metal, truly deserves this title.

It's just that he didn't know what rank this powerful Superpower was. He wondered if it could make it into the top ten.

On the train, Iron Demon didn't move, and neither did Chu Tian or Wang Lin, and just like that, the train passed another station.

Another group of people boarded, also wearing black combat uniforms and also having red snakes tattooed on their arms. The leader was a tall, thin man in his early thirties with no expression on his face, but his eyes were cold.

He scanned the carriage, his gaze pausing on Iron Demon, nodded slightly, and then led his people toward the other end of the carriage.

Chu Tian's face turned even paler, and his Adam's apple bobbed: "That is Green Python, the vice leader of the Red Snake Gang."

"Level 6, Wood-type Superpower [Vine Domain]. He can control vines to crawl out from any crack."

"The carriage vents, the gaps between seats, the corners of the luggage racks—they are everywhere."

"His vines have barbs; the more you struggle when entangled, the tighter they constrict. Moreover, the vines carry a paralytic toxin; once your skin is pierced, your whole body will go stiff within a few minutes."

"The Night Watchers' files record their teamwork: Iron Demon controls the field, Green Python catches the people, and they have never failed."

"Iron Demon uses metal to block the escape route, and Green Python's vines swarm in from all directions; you have nowhere to run."

As soon as Wang Lin heard the words "Wood-type," he could no longer suppress the impulse in his heart.

The Five Elements: he already had Water, Fire, and Earth; he was only missing Metal and Wood. It was like five slots on a bookshelf with two empty ones—every time he saw it, he felt uncomfortable.

He hadn't expected that on this train, Metal and Wood would actually deliver themselves to his doorstep.

Looking at Wang Lin's expression, Chu Tian felt a shiver run down his spine.

He hadn't not seen the light in those eyes before; that was the look of a hunter eyeing its prey.

The problem is, why are you, a little white rabbit, staring at a big bad wolf?

Chu Tian subconsciously tugged at Wang Lin's sleeve, his voice lowered extremely low: "Stop looking. If you provoke them, they are capable of anything."

"Besides, they have many people and work together seamlessly. Iron Demon and Green Python have been partners for many years; they are so in sync that they know what the other is going to do without speaking."

"I'm afraid I can't beat them on my own."

Wang Lin looked at Chu Tian with an incredulous expression, his mouth twitching: "There are over a dozen of them; how many can you take out?"

Chu Tian stared at the backs of Iron Demon and Green Python and was silent for a moment: "One. With my strength, I can only take out one."

Chu Tian's tone was calm; he wasn't trying to be tough, nor was he bragging—he was simply stating a fact.

Wang Lin looked at him, thinking rapidly: If Chu Tian could hold off one of them, he could take out the other in a very short time and then turn back to provide support.

One for one, it wouldn't be a loss.

His gaze shifted from Iron Demon to Green Python, and then back from Green Python, before asking Chu Tian: "Between Iron Demon and Green Python, which one can you take out?"

Chu Tian's eyes scanned the two men, then he extended a finger, reached through the gaps in the crowd, and pointed at a lackey behind Green Python.
