32: Chapter 32 Wang Lin, who are you?
At this moment, he was holding a screen in his hand, which displayed several messages.
"Commander Leí Héng is dead."
He raised his head and looked at the subordinate standing in front of him.
The subordinate nodded: "Confirmed. Three days ago, in the western canyon, he was killed by someone named Wang Lin."
"The people from Wild Wolf were outside at the time and saw with their own eyes that kid walking out of the canyon, still holding Commander Leí Héng's blade."
Captain Han was silent for a few seconds.
"I know Commander Leí Héng's strength; he is a LV3 Blade God, and he had a few capable men under him."
"That kid killed them all by himself?"
The subordinate swallowed his saliva: "Yes... The people from Wild Wolf said that when the kid came out, he was covered in blood, but he was still standing."
"None of the five, including Commander Leí Héng, came out."
Captain Han threw the crystal screen onto the table and leaned back in his chair.
He was silent for a long time.
"Wang Lin? What is his background?"
The subordinate opened the booklet in his hand: "I've checked. He is a reserve member of the Twelve Zodiacs and has only been in the camp for five days."
"His points were 7,900 on the first day, and 31,200 on the fourth day, which is when he killed Commander Leí Héng."
"He should be staying at Laifu Inn right now."
"The Twelve Zodiacs? A reserve member?"
"Yes, he hasn't been promoted to full status yet."
Captain Han's fingers tapped lightly on the tabletop, making a rhythmic tapping sound.
The meeting room was quiet for a few seconds.
Another man sitting next to him spoke up.
This man was thirty-five or thirty-six years old, bald, with a scar on his face, looking even fiercer than Captain Han.
His name was Tie Shan, a LV5 Rock-type Calamity, and like Captain Han, he was also a squad leader of the Dark Blade.
"Although that kid Commander Leí Héng was trash, he was still one of our own."
"He paid quite a lot in protection fees every year."
"Now that he's been killed, if we don't say anything, how will we recruit people in the future?"
Captain Han didn't speak, just continued tapping the table.
Tie Shan grew anxious: "Say something!"
"How about I take a few men and drag that kid back so the brothers can vent their anger?"
Captain Han said: "Try touching someone from the Twelve Zodiacs and see what happens."
Tie Shan was stunned.
Captain Han looked at him with a hint of helplessness in his eyes: "Tie Shan, have you forgotten what kind of background the Twelve Zodiacs have?"
"That is an organization that can stand on equal footing with the Night Watchers."
"In their eyes, our Dark Blade is nothing."
Tie Shan opened his mouth but couldn't say a word.
A woman next to him who hadn't spoken until now chuckled softly.
Her name was Su Wan, a LV4 Wind Element Awakened, and she was also part of the Dark Blade.
She was around thirty years old, with an ordinary appearance, but her eyes were very bright.
"Captain Han is right. You can't openly attack people from the Twelve Zodiacs."
Tie Shan frowned: "Then what should we do? Just let it go?"
Su Wan smiled but didn't speak, just looked at Captain Han.
Captain Han was silent for a few seconds, then said: "Go investigate this Wang Lin and see if he has any weaknesses."
"Family, friends, places he frequents, and who he associates with."
He paused, his eyes turning cold. "You can't openly attack people from the Twelve Zodiacs, but in the shadows..."
"Are there few people who have died in the Mist Forest?"
Tie Shan's eyes lit up.
Su Wan nodded.
The subordinate acknowledged the order, turned around, and ran out.
Captain Han stood up and walked to the window. "Wang Lin... let me see what your background is."
Early the next morning, Wang Lin walked out of Laifu Inn.
The camp was already bustling with activity; people setting up stalls, trading, forming teams to set out, people coming and going.
Wang Lin stood at the entrance and stretched his shoulders.
The wound on his left shoulder had almost healed, leaving only a faint pink scar.
The depression in his chest had also fully recovered, his ribs had grown back, and breathing no longer hurt.
The self-healing ability of us Calamities is just that strong.
He touched his waist; it was empty.
That dagger he bought for 150 points had been lost somewhere in the canyon yesterday.
Moreover, he now had a new ability. Sequence 067, Blade God.
But an ability is an ability, and a blade is a blade. Without a blade, a Blade God is just a joke.
Wang Lin walked toward the central square of the camp. There were several fixed weapon stalls there.
After walking for ten minutes, he arrived at a familiar stall.
The stall owner was a middle-aged man in his forties named Zhou, who had been setting up stalls in this area for two years; he had a good reputation and didn't rip people off.
Boss Zhou saw Wang Lin, and his eyes lit up: "Yo, little brother, you're back? How was that dagger you used a couple of days ago?"
Wang Lin shook his head: "I lost it."
Boss Zhou laughed: "That's normal; losing things in the Mist Forest is too common. What do you want to buy this time?"
Wang Lin's gaze swept across the stall. Blades, blades, and more blades. Long ones, short ones, wide ones, narrow ones; there were all kinds.
"I want to buy a blade, a better one."
Boss Zhou perked up: "A better one? What's your budget?"
Wang Lin thought for a moment: "Within one thousand points."
Boss Zhou's eyes lit up even more. One thousand points was no small sum; ordinary weapons only cost two or three hundred.
He turned around, took a long wooden box from behind the stall, placed it in front of Wang Lin, and opened it.
Inside lay a blade. The blade body was long and narrow, slightly curved, and the edge gleamed with a cold, chilling light.
The handle was black, felt very comfortable to hold, and had fine patterns carved onto it.
"This one, Black Moon," Boss Zhou said, "forged from refined steel, incredibly sharp, and with good durability."
"I've tried it myself; one strike can split a three-inch thick iron plate."
"Eight hundred points, absolutely worth it."
Wang Lin picked it up and held it in his hand. The blade was heavy, heavier than he had imagined.
But it fit his hand perfectly and felt very steady.
With a thought, the Blade God power within his body trembled slightly.
That feeling was very strange, as if the blade was responding to him.
Wang Lin swung it twice; the blade sliced through the air, making a faint hissing sound.
"I'll take this one," he said.
Boss Zhou beamed with joy, took out an instrument, and scanned it over Wang Lin's wristband. Beep.

Wang Lin sheathed the blade and asked again: "Do you have any blade manuals here?"
Boss Zhou was stunned for a moment: "Blade manuals?"
"Yes, blade techniques or something similar."
Boss Zhou scratched his head: "Little brother, why do you want blade manuals? Nobody buys this stuff in the camp."
"Everyone here is an Awakened; abilities are much more important than blade techniques."
"Besides, blade manuals—the ones that are actually useful are too expensive, and the cheap ones are all fakes."
Wang Lin looked at him: "Do you have any here?"
Boss Zhou thought for a moment: "I do have some, but they are all common goods, basic blade techniques—chopping, hacking, stabbing, parrying, that sort of thing."
"If you want them, I'll give them all to you for fifty points."
Wang Lin nodded: "Bring them out and let me see."
Boss Zhou dug out a few tattered booklets from under the stall and threw them on the stall.
Wang Lin flipped through them one by one. They were indeed all common goods, the most basic introductory blade techniques, even the diagrams of the moves were drawn crookedly.
But he bought them anyway. Fifty points, not expensive.
