154: Chapter 154 Interrogation (Part 1)

"Could you please connect me to the Third Young Master?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, and the tone became a bit impatient.

"Do you think you can just connect to the Third Young Master's phone whenever you want? Anything you have to say, you can tell me instead."

Lin Yuanzhou's tone remained steady, neither servile nor overbearing. "I have a very urgent matter to report."

The woman's voice grew even more impatient. "The Third Young Master is taking a nap right now. Call back in two hours."

Lin Yuanzhou frowned. "I really have a very urgent matter."

The woman said, "The Third Young Master said that no matter how urgent the matter is, it's not as important as his nap. You should call back in two hours."

Wang Lin looked at the livid Lin Yuanzhou, snatched the phone from him, and said into the receiver:

"My name is Wang Lin, and I am a friend of Jin Yuanbao."

"Tell Jin Yuanbao immediately that I am waiting for him at the Night Watchers headquarters in the Holy City."

"Otherwise, I'll have Jin Yuanbao fire you. Make you pack your bags and get out. Think carefully."

After speaking, Wang Lin hung up the phone and handed it back to Lin Yuanzhou. "Done."

Lin Yuanzhou took the phone. "Young Master Wang, this isn't good, is it..."

The address changed from Mr. Wang to Young Master Wang, not because he was afraid of Wang Lin, but because Wang Lin was a friend of Jin Yuanbao, and Jin Yuanbao was his Third Young Master.

Wang Lin looked at him. "There's nothing wrong with it. The call is done, let's go in. Someone will be here to pick me up in a while."

After saying this, he walked toward the old gray-white building.

Sean glanced at Lynx. The corners of Lynx's mouth curled up, and he followed behind Sean inside.

Chu Tian walked at the very back, head bowed, without saying a word.

At the Miracle Company Holy City headquarters, the operator put down the phone and was stunned for a long while.

Wang Lin? Never heard of him. A friend of the Third Young Master? The Third Young Master has many friends, but none of them would dare to be this arrogant.

She picked up the receiver, wanting to call back and curse him out, but her fingers stopped on the keyboard.

After thinking about it, she decided to report this matter.

What if it were true? What if that person named Wang Lin really had some connections? What if the Third Young Master actually knew him...

She put down the receiver, stood up, and walked toward the manager's office.

At this time, Wang Lin and Lin Yuanzhou were in two separate interrogation rooms.

The rooms were both very small, with one table, two chairs, and one hanging lamp.

Wang Lin sat on the chair against the wall, looking at the empty chair opposite him, feeling a bit bored.

Lin Yuanzhou was next door, his trench coat taken off and draped over the back of the chair, revealing the wound at his waist.

He leaned against the back of the chair, eyes closed, as if resting.

Outside the interrogation room, Sean and Lynx stood behind the one-way glass, with Wang Lin on the other side.

In Sean's hand was a newly compiled transcript, Chu Tian's report, from boarding the train with the Red Snake Gang to Iron Demon being devoured, word for word.

Even every sentence Wang Lin had said was recorded.

Sean read it twice, said nothing, closed the transcript, and placed it on the table.

Lynx stood beside him, his tone filled with excitement. "This Wang Lin is a talent."

"Only LV4, yet he killed the LV6 Iron Demon."

"Iron Demon's Superpower is [Metal Throne]. In that train carriage full of metal, for someone to actually defeat him, it's unbelievable."

"We must recruit him into the Night Watchers."

Sean looked at him and said indifferently, "He is a Calamity."

Lynx laughed. "So what if he's a Calamity? The Night Watchers are divided into the Bright Division and the Dark Division. We can transfer him to the Dark Division."

"The work in the Dark Division is indeed dangerous, but the benefits are high, and people in the Dark Division don't care about status, only ability."

"Let alone a Calamity, there are even death row prisoners pulled out of prison. What's a single Calamity compared to that?"

What Lynx said was the truth. The members of the Dark Division were a mixed bag, including defecting Awakened, wanted Calamities, and even spies poached from other organizations.

As long as you are useful, the Night Watchers will use you.

Completing missions earns a bounty; failing them results in internal handling.

Simple and direct, no questions asked about background.

Sean was silent for a moment. "That may be so, but he might not necessarily agree."

Lynx patted his round belly. "What's hard about that? A seventeen or eighteen-year-old kid, scare him a little, and he'll be obedient."

Sean looked at him, neither nodding nor shaking his head, and only said one sentence: "Fine, then I'll leave this matter to you. You go interrogate Wang Lin."

Lynx smiled like a cat about to eat a fish. "Guaranteed to complete the mission."

He straightened his collar, pushed open the door to the interrogation room, and walked in.

Sean stood behind the one-way glass, watching Lynx's back, without saying a word.

He knew Lynx's methods.

This smiling fat man had interrogated more people than he had eaten meals.

From Calamities, traitors, and spies to captives from other organizations, there wasn't a mouth he couldn't pry open.

It's just that this seed was too young and hadn't learned to hide its sharp edge.

Scaring him a little would be good, letting him know that the Night Watchers wasn't a place he could come and go as he pleased.

Lynx pushed open the door to the interrogation room and walked in.

Wang Lin raised his head to glance at him, then withdrew his gaze.

Lynx sat down opposite him, took out a pen and a notebook, and slowly opened it.

Wang Lin didn't open his eyes and didn't speak.

Lynx looked at him for a few seconds and laughed. "Wang Lin, right? Don't be nervous, just a casual chat."

Wang Lin said indifferently, "I'm not nervous."

Lynx laughed again. "That's good, that's good."

"Look at you, so young and able to defeat the LV6 Iron Demon, and on his home turf too. So impressive. At your age, I was still fighting in the streets."

Wang Lin didn't respond.

Lynx smiled awkwardly, flipped through his notebook again, and said slowly:

"First time in the Holy City? Never been here before? How long do you plan to stay?"

Wang Lin finally opened his eyes. "Whatever you want to ask, just ask directly. No need to beat around the bush; it's tiring to watch."

Lynx's smile stiffened for a moment, then quickly recovered. "Alright, then I'll ask directly. Wang Lin, you are a Calamity, you must have eaten quite a few people, right?"

Wang Lin's eyes narrowed, his fingers tapped lightly twice, and he didn't rush to answer.

After a few seconds, Wang Lin spoke. "I never eat people."

Lynx slammed the table with a bang. The notebook on the table jumped up, and the pen rolled onto the floor.

"Liar! Just today, many civilians saw you eat Iron Demon!"

Wang Lin smiled. "That wasn't eating; that was my skill."

"I just digested him, that's all. Otherwise, with his Superpower, it would have been very difficult for me to break through his defense."

Lynx was stunned. Digested? You can make eating people sound so high-sounding? His mouth twitched.

"What's the difference between you eating him and you digesting him?"

"Of course there's a difference. One is purely eating people, and the other is a method of attack."
