30: Chapter 30 Hidden Blade
Wang Lin closed his eyes, his brows furrowed tightly.
Pain.
It hurt even more than being pierced by the blade earlier.
Those invisible blades felt as if they were tearing him into pieces from the inside; every inch of his flesh was wailing, and every nerve was trembling.
But he did not let go.
His tentacles were nailed firmly onto Commander Leí Héng's corpse, the suckers frantically draining that power.
One second.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
I don't know how long it had been, but that violent power finally calmed down slowly.
It no longer cut him like a blade, but flowed through his blood like water, quietly waiting to be Awakened.
He lowered his head and looked at his hands.
With a thought, he curled the fingers of his right hand slightly.
An invisible blade aura shot out from his fingertips, striking the stone wall beside him.
Ssh!
A three-inch-deep slash remained on the stone wall, its edges as smooth as if split by a sharp blade.
Wang Lin looked at the slash, and Wang Lin smiled.
He took a deep breath and turned to walk towards the corpses.
He walked over to each one and picked up their bracelets.
Commander Leí Héng's: [8300 Points]
Ice Element Awakened's: [2300 Points]
Rock-type Calamity's: [1800 Points]
Speed-type Calamity's: [2100 Points]
Bone Spike Calamity's: [1700 Points]
He put all the bracelets together and tapped them one by one.
The numbers on the bracelets began to jump frantically.
[19800] → [22100] → [23900] → [26000] → [27700]
Finally, it stopped at [29600].
Twenty-nine thousand six hundred points.
Wang Lin looked at the number and was stunned for a few seconds.
"I've struck it rich..."
"I've truly fucking struck it rich..."
He raised his hand, and blue flames surged from his palm.
He walked towards the first corpse, the flames descended, and the corpse began to burn.
Then the second, the third, the fourth.
Finally, he walked to Commander Leí Héng's corpse.
Wang Lin looked down at him.
"In your next life, don't provoke people you shouldn't."
The blue flames landed on Commander Leí Héng.
The fire instantly engulfed the corpse.
Wang Lin turned and walked towards the canyon exit.
...
Meanwhile, twenty kilometers away,
Twelve Zodiacs Camp, monitoring hall.
This was a huge circular space, with crystal screens hanging on all four walls.
Densely packed data was jumping in real-time on every screen.
In the center of the hall, over a dozen people were sitting at their respective workstations, staring at the constantly changing numbers.
Information from all reserve members' bracelets was summarized here in real-time.
"Huh?"
A young man wearing glasses suddenly frowned, staring at the screen in front of him.
Rows of data were displayed on the screen.
[Wang Lin, Current Points: 29600]
He rubbed his eyes, thinking he had misread it.
29600?
He sat up straight abruptly, his fingers swiping rapidly across the crystal screen to pull up the point change records.
[19:42, Income 8300 Points]
[19:42, Income 2300 Points]
[19:42, Income 1800 Points]
[19:42, Income 2100 Points]
[19:42, Income 1700 Points]
[Current Points: 29600]
Five transfers, all happening within the same minute.
The young man with glasses was stunned.
Then he stood up and shouted at the top of his lungs:
"Lord Hu! Lord Zhang! Something big has happened!"
The voice echoed in the hall, and everyone raised their heads simultaneously.
Ten minutes later.
Zhao Hu and Zhang Qiming walked into the monitoring hall.
Both of them had expressions of annoyance at being disturbed.
"What are you shouting for?" Zhao Hu exhaled a puff of smoke. "Has the sky fallen?"
The young man with glasses pointed at the screen, his voice trembling. "Lord Hu, you... you see for yourself."
Zhao Hu leaned over and took a look.
Then his eyes widened.
The cigarette in his mouth fell to the ground, but he didn't even bother to pick it up.
"How much? ... Twenty-nine thousand six?!"
Zhang Qiming also leaned over, his teacup suspended in mid-air.
"Wang Lin... it's this kid again?"
Zhao Hu turned his head abruptly, staring at the young man with glasses. "Investigate! Investigate clearly for me! Where did these points come from?"
The young man's fingers swiped rapidly across the screen, and a few seconds later, his expression changed too.
"I... I've found it..."
"Speak!"
"These points... were all transferred from the bracelets of the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group members."
"Commander Leí Héng, and his four core subordinates."
The hall went silent instantly.
Zhao Hu and Zhang Qiming looked at each other.
Commander Leí Héng.
A LV3 Blade God.
Leader of the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group.
A ruthless character who had been running rampant in this camp for two years.
"Commander Leí Héng... that kid killed Commander Leí Héng?"
The young man nodded with difficulty. "Judging from the flow of points... it should be."
Zhao Hu was silent for a long time, then he suddenly laughed.
"Damn it... this kid, he's truly a monster."
Zhang Qiming also laughed.
He picked up his teacup, took a sip, and said slowly:
"It's fine, it's fine... my red envelope wasn't sent in vain..."
Zhao Hu rolled his eyes at him and didn't speak.
Zhang Qiming felt a bit awkward, then coughed twice.
"Lord Hu, there is something I must mention."
"What is it?"
The middle-aged man stared at the crystal screen in front of him, his expression somewhat grave.
"I just checked Commander Leí Héng's file; he has someone behind him."
Zhao Hu frowned. "What do you mean?"
"Commander Leí Héng isn't just a simple leader of the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group." The middle-aged man turned the screen over.
"Three years ago, he joined an organization called [Dark Blade]."
Dark Blade.
As soon as these two words were spoken, the atmosphere in the monitoring hall changed instantly.
The smile on Zhang Qiming's face slowly faded.
Zhao Hu's brows furrowed even tighter.
"Dark Blade? Are you sure?"
The middle-aged man nodded. "Sure."
"Three years ago, in the Mist Forest, Commander Leí Héng saved a squad leader from Dark Blade, and that person later pulled him into the organization."
"Although he wasn't a core member, he was registered."
"He paid protection fees every year, and Dark Blade provided him with protection."
"Commander Leí Héng was able to establish a foothold in the Wild Wolf Mercenary Group and run rampant in Mist Camp for two years; there was definitely support from Dark Blade behind it."
Zhao Hu was silent for a few seconds.
Zhang Qiming put down his teacup, his expression not looking too good either.
"Dark Blade... that's a real problem."
Dark Blade is one of the forces in this Mist Camp that must not be provoked.
It's not because they have many people; in fact, there aren't many people in Dark Blade, only about thirty in total.
But every one of them is a ruthless character.
Dark Blade only recruits elites, only those who have killed, seen blood, and truly struggled on the edge of death.
Their members are at least LV3, and the leader has even reached LV6.
What's even more troublesome is that Dark Blade is extremely protective of its own.
Whoever touches their people, they touch that person's entire family.
Last year, a mercenary group killed an external member of Dark Blade,
and the next night, all thirty-seven members of the mercenary group were dead.
Not a single one was left.
