156: Chapter 156 Interrogation (Part 2)
Sean said with barely suppressed anger: "Wang Lin, how dare you attack the Night Watchers."
Wang Lin looked down at them, the corners of his mouth curling slightly: "Attack? Who saw it? You clearly fell down yourselves."
Lynx's mouth twitched, pulling at his wound and causing him to wince in pain.
"You… you… you are shameless!"
Wang Lin looked at him and said indifferently: "Thanks for the compliment."
At that moment, hurried footsteps came from the corridor. The door was pushed open, and several Night Watchers in black uniforms rushed in, holding guns with their muzzles aimed at Wang Lin.
They froze when they saw Lynx and Sean both lying on the ground, their fingers resting on the triggers.
A young Night Watcher said: "Officer Sean! Officer Lynx! You…"
Lynx and Sean climbed up from the ground, leaning against the wall and supporting each other.
"Wang Lin, you have nothing to say now, right? They all saw you hit someone."
Wang Lin smiled, turned around, and looked at the Night Watchers at the door: "Did you see me make a move?"
Those Night Watchers were stunned for a moment; they had indeed not seen Wang Lin make a move.
When they rushed in, Wang Lin was standing in the middle of the room with his hands in his pockets.
Lynx and Sean were lying on the ground, bruised and swollen, but they hadn't seen Wang Lin make a move.
The young Night Watcher opened and closed his mouth, not knowing what to say.
He really hadn't seen it… but Lynx and Sean wouldn't have fallen like that on their own.
Just as everyone was in a stalemate, a voice came from the corridor, fast and hurried, filled with undisguised anger:
"Move aside, move aside! Did you torture my brother? Let me tell you, if you dare to torture my brother…"
Before he could finish, a round figure pushed through the crowd and rushed into the interrogation room.
Jin Yuanbao grabbed Wang Lin's shoulders and looked him up and down, then turned around, looked at the bruised and swollen Sean and Lynx, and froze on the spot.
After a while, he said: "Brother Wang, they… what happened to them?"
Wang Lin said indifferently: "They wanted to torture me, but they ended up falling on the ground themselves."
The shrewd Jin Yuanbao understood the whole situation immediately; it was clear that these two wanted to torture Wang Lin, only to be beaten by him instead.
But he didn't call them out. His gaze swept around the room; the red light of the camera in the corner of the ceiling was off and even smoking, and he felt relieved.
"So it was just a fall, then it's fine, it's fine."
"Anyway, we're all on the same side. I'll cover the medical expenses later."
Sean's expression became even uglier.
Jin Yuanbao added: "Since it was all a misunderstanding, I assume everything is settled. We'll be going now."
After saying this, he grabbed Wang Lin and walked out.
Sean hadn't expected that the Third Young Master of the Miracle Company would come specifically for Wang Lin.
But having suffered such a big loss, how could he just let Wang Lin leave? He gritted his teeth and said:
"Wait, you can't leave! Wang Lin publicly attacked a Night Watcher, he must…"
Before he could finish, another voice rang out: "There is no evidence. What else do the Night Watchers want to do?"
An old man walked out from behind Jin Yuanbao, wearing a dark gray robe with graying hair—it was Bishop Qin Cang.
He looked at Sean, his tone unfriendly: "Since when has it been the turn of the Night Watchers to interrogate people from the Holy Court?"
"Without proof or evidence, you arrest someone from my Holy Court. Do you think the Holy Court is easy to bully?"
Sean's face turned even paler. He had thought Wang Lin was just a poor kid with no power or influence.
He hadn't expected that the Holy Court stood behind him, and even less did he expect that Bishop Qin Cang of the Holy Court, a powerhouse above LV9, would come personally to exonerate him.
Why would a LV4 kid make Bishop Qin Cang come out personally?
What exactly is his status in the Holy Court?
Sean gritted his teeth and forced a smile onto his face, a smile that looked worse than crying.
He took two steps forward, bent his waist, and showed the respect due to a powerhouse:
"Bishop Qin, there's been a misunderstanding. We were just following standard procedure, asking Wang Lin to come back and assist with an investigation."
"Is the investigation finished?"
"It's finished, it's finished."
"Can we leave now?"
"Yes, yes."
Bishop Qin Cang didn't look at him again and turned to walk out.
Wang Lin followed behind him and walked out as well.
Sean looked at Wang Lin's retreating back, a flash of unwillingness crossing his eyes, but he said nothing.
Lynx stood beside him and also didn't speak.
He knew that they had definitely taken the loss today.
In the corridor, Bishop Qin Cang walked in front, Wang Lin walked in the middle, and Jin Yuanbao walked at the back, talking as they walked, full of undisguised excitement:
"Brother Wang, you are truly amazing."
"You are the first person to beat someone up at the Night Watchers' headquarters and still be able to walk out. Amazing…"
"Did you see those two just now? They looked like they had swallowed a fly; their expressions were so brilliant."
Wang Lin didn't smile, nor did he reply.
Wang Lin walked out of the Night Watchers' headquarters, and there was a person standing outside the door: Chu Tian.
He stood at the entrance, head lowered, fists clenched so tightly his knuckles were white.
Hearing footsteps, he suddenly looked up. Seeing Wang Lin, his lips moved as if to say something, but he swallowed it back.
Wang Lin didn't stop, walking past him without looking at him or speaking.
Chu Tian clenched his hands even tighter.
He thought Wang Lin hated him because he had betrayed him, because he had told Sean that Wang Lin was a Calamity.
In reality, Wang Lin didn't hate him at all; everyone just had different stances and were serving their own masters.
Jin Yuanbao caught up, ran to Wang Lin's side, and was still laughing: "Brother Wang, you just arrived in the Holy City and don't have a place to stay, right? Why not come to my place?"
"The Holy Court is nice, but it's not as comfortable as my place. Besides, it's mostly men there, which is boring."
"My place is different. There's a swimming pool, a garden, and also…"
He stopped halfway through his sentence.
A gaze fell upon Jin Yuanbao.
Bishop Qin Cang was looking at him, his gaze very calm, yet it made him unable to say another word.
Bishop Qin Cang turned around and said to Wang Lin: "Wang Lin, it's better to prioritize important matters."
Wang Lin nodded; the most important reason he came here was still the [Space] Superpower.
So he said to Jin Yuanbao: "Yuanbao, I'm going to the Holy Court; I have important business to attend to. I'll contact you when I'm free."
Jin Yuanbao opened his mouth, then swallowed his words back.
He took a business card out of his pocket—it was gold-colored, with the three large characters "Jin Yuanbao" printed on it.
He shoved the business card into Wang Lin's hand: "Take it. Call me if you need anything."
Wang Lin took the business card and put it in his pocket.
Bishop Qin Cang had already gotten into the car, and Wang Lin opened the back door and sat in.
The black sedan slowly drove out of the entrance of the Night Watchers' headquarters. Jin Yuanbao stood there, watching the tail of the car disappear at the end of the street.
Jin Yuanbao watched for a long time, then seemed to remember something: "Right, I think I came here to pick someone up."
He patted his head and turned to run back.
None of the Night Watchers in the corridor dared to stop him. He ran to the door of the interrogation room, pushed it open, and saw Lin Yuanzhou.
Lin Yuanzhou was sitting on a chair. He was stunned for a moment when he saw Jin Yuanbao, not expecting Jin Yuanbao to come in person: "Third Young Master?"
Jin Yuanbao looked at him and nodded: "Let's go, I'm here to pick you up."
This thrilled Lin Yuanzhou; he hadn't expected the Third Young Master to come and pick him up personally, and he was moved to tears.
