231: Chapter 230 Bluffing
The warehouse fell silent for a moment.
Wind poured in from the broken window, kicking up dust across the floor.
The air seemed to solidify, making even breathing feel heavy.
Hiding in the shadows of the warehouse corner, Old Zhao felt his heart tighten abruptly upon hearing Wang Lin's words.
This kid really dared to say that; Third Uncle Shen Henian was clearly killed by Shen Tie, yet he claimed he killed him himself.
Old Zhao thought about it for a moment, and then he understood.
Wang Lin was bluffing, intentionally taking all the enmity upon himself so that Shen Tianhe would think he had the strength to kill an LV8, thereby causing Shen Tianhe to become timid, hesitant, and afraid to strike rashly.
As long as Shen Tianhe had even a shred of concern in his heart, his attacks would slow by a fraction, his judgment would be slightly off, and his openings would increase.
This kid didn't look very old, but he was certainly deep in thought.
Sure enough, Shen Tianhe remained silent for a long time, as if confirming something.
"You say you killed Third Uncle Shen Henian?"
"Impossible. Third Uncle Shen Henian is an LV8 powerhouse, a Domain type, a Puppeteer. You're just an LV5, what could you possibly use to kill him?"
"I used a method you couldn't imagine."
"What method?"
Wang Lin's eyes held an unfathomable composure: "What method? Do you think I'd tell you?"
"I intend to use that same method to kill you, too."
Shen Tianhe's fingers curled slightly, then relaxed.
He was Shen Tianhe, an LV8 powerhouse and an external affairs deacon of the Shen Family; naturally, he wouldn't be frightened by just a few words.
Even if Wang Lin really did kill Third Uncle Shen Henian, it must have been through some means, not a head-on confrontation.
He had Void Rending in his hand, the strength of an LV8 to back him up, and two LV6 attendants by his side.
He didn't believe that an LV5 like Wang Lin could stir up any trouble.
Shen Tianhe's voice turned cold: "You have a sharp tongue. But you can't kill people with just your mouth."
Shen Tianhe turned his head and gave a slight nod to the two attendants behind him: "Go up and test his depth."
The two LV6 attendants didn't hesitate in the slightest and moved simultaneously.
One on the left and one on the right, they flanked him.
They were very fast, their hands pressed against the weapons at their waists, their gazes locked onto Wang Lin.
Watching them charge, Wang Lin lightly brushed his space ring with his right hand, and three figures flew out from within.
One humanoid, one beast-shaped, and one bird-shaped.
The three puppets landed in front of him, standing in a row, their crystal cores flickering with a dim light in the darkness.
The humanoid puppet blocked the left, the beast-shaped puppet blocked the right, and the bird-shaped puppet hovered in mid-air, sealing off all angles of attack.
The two LV6 attendants stopped in their tracks simultaneously.
Their blades struck the metal shells of the puppets, leaving only shallow white marks.
The bird-shaped puppet swooped down from the air, its sharp claws raking across the shoulder of one of the attendants, and blood began to seep from the wound.
Shen Tianhe looked at the three puppets, his eyes changing abruptly.
He recognized them; they were Third Uncle Shen Henian's puppets.
The humanoid one was called "Iron Bone," one of Third Uncle Shen Henian's proudest creations;
The beast-shaped one was called "Fangs," specifically designed for melee surprise attacks;
The bird-shaped one was called "Shadow Sweep," which Third Uncle Shen Henian used for reconnaissance and pursuit.
These three puppets had been with Third Uncle Shen Henian for over a decade, and he had once watched with his own eyes as Third Uncle Shen Henian used them to hunt down an LV7 demonic beast.
Seeing them in Wang Lin's hands, there was only one possibility...
Third Uncle Shen Henian was truly dead, and before he died, these three puppets had fallen into Wang Lin's hands.
Shen Tianhe's face sank completely: "You really did kill Third Uncle Shen Henian."
His voice was colder than before; Third Uncle Shen Henian was the pillar of the Shen Family, an elder he had respected since childhood, and one of the strongest in the Shen Family.
He was dead, killed by Wang Lin.
Now, only one thought remained in Shen Tianhe's mind...
No matter what means Wang Lin used, he had to make Wang Lin die here.
Not for Junlin, but for Third Uncle Shen Henian, and for the dignity of the Shen Family.
Watching the change in Shen Tianhe's eyes, Wang Lin knew clearly that his strategy had already succeeded.
Now, Shen Tianhe's two LV6 attendants were tightly entangled by the three puppets.
One was being suppressed head-on by the humanoid puppet "Iron Bone";
The other was being forced to dodge constantly by the beast-shaped puppet "Fangs" from the side, and several shallow bloodstains had already appeared on his body;
The bird-shaped puppet "Shadow Sweep" circled in the air like a hunting hawk waiting for an opportunity, sealing off all their retreat paths and support routes.
The two attendants were overwhelmed and had no spare energy to help Shen Tianhe.
Watching the two attendants being suppressed by the puppets with no power to fight back, Shen Tianhe's expression grew even gloomier.
He didn't look at them, nor did he go to save them.
His gaze remained locked on Wang Lin: "You are well prepared. But you still miscalculated one thing."
"What thing?"
"You forgot, I am LV8, and you are only LV5. In the face of absolute power, all schemes are futile."
Wang Lin chuckled: "Third Uncle Shen Henian said the same thing back then..."
Shen Tianhe's brows furrowed even tighter: "Since you are courting death, I will grant your wish."
Shen Tianhe lightly slashed his finger through the air, and a black spatial rift appeared out of thin air, silent and soundless, heading straight for Wang Lin.
The rift was like a black snake, slithering through the air.
Wherever the rift passed, a smooth cut appeared on the ground.
Wang Lin dodged to the right, Wind Element erupting beneath his feet, his Speed pushed to the limit.
The rift grazed Wang Lin's left shoulder, leaving a shallow bloodstain on his skin; this was caused by the aftermath of the space being torn.
Wang Lin felt a stinging pain in his left shoulder; he looked down and saw blood seeping from the wound, staining his school uniform red.
But Wang Lin didn't stop; he stomped hard on the ground, his body propelled forward, and he slashed his blade upward, aiming straight for Shen Tianhe's chin.
Army-Breaker Blade Technique, First Form: Army-Breaker Slash.
Shen Tianhe drew a circle in the air with his finger, and a ring-shaped spatial rift opened before him like a shield.
Wang Lin's blade struck the rift; the blade didn't touch anything solid, but an invisible force rebounded from the rift, numbing his arm.
Wang Lin stepped back twice, steadied himself, and looked at Shen Tianhe.
The ring-shaped rift rotated slowly in front of Shen Tianhe, like a door leading to the void.
Shen Tianhe looked at him with a hint of a smile at the corners of his mouth.
"Your blade technique is not bad. But in front of a spatial rift, no kind of blade is useful."
Shen Tianhe's fingers moved again; this time, it wasn't one rift, but three.
Three black rifts cut toward Wang Lin from different directions, like three invisible blades slashing from three directions simultaneously.
Wang Lin flipped in the air, dodging the first rift, then used his blade to block the second rift; the moment the blade touched the rift, the edge was severed.
It wasn't cut off; it was "erased" by the spatial rift.
The blade broke into two pieces, the cut as smooth as a mirror.
