162: Visit the Longguo Space Station

"Since they've so kindly invited us, it wouldn't be right not to go. Let's go!" Liu Xiaolin saw that everyone wanted to visit the Space Station, so of course, he had to agree.

"Let's go, let's go, we're off!" Wang Taomin stood up excitedly and walked towards the connecting passage.

The others followed closely behind, walking through the spacious passage into the Dragon Country Space Station.

They were stunned as soon as they entered. It wasn't like the Beautiful Country's Space Station, where exposed wires, switches, and buttons were everywhere. This place was like a high-end, well-decorated home; you couldn't see exposed wiring or electrical outlets everywhere.

However, after a few people went in, they immediately floated up.

It turned out this Space Station hadn't undergone weightlessness elimination treatment, because as soon as they entered, everyone started floating around haphazardly. x33xs.com

The other six Astronauts had received weightlessness training, and they were relatively used to it. But this was Liu Xiaolin's first time experiencing a weightless environment, and he felt a bit dizzy and lightheaded.

Seeing this, Wang Taomin pulled him to stand beside him: "General Manager Liu, are you finding it a bit hard to bear?"

"That's right, I thought the Space Station had undergone weightlessness elimination treatment like our wanderer one," Liu Xiaolin complained in a low voice.

"Nobody has your design blueprints; they can't make your high-tech space shuttle," Wang Taomin said with a smile.

"Alright, stop making fun of me. Let's quickly take a look around and go back," Liu Xiaolin said.

At this moment, the Space Station's research staff were all standing at the entrance to welcome their group.

"Thank you for transporting the supplies this time, and welcome to visit the Dragon Country Space Station." The person leading them was the Space Station monitor who had been in contact with them.

"It's our duty, it's our duty, we're getting paid for the job," Liu Xiaolin said casually, not quite used to such official welcoming remarks.

"Our Space Station has a total of eighteen research staff, and each person has their own research direction. They are all quite busy, so I will lead you on a tour later," the monitor said with a smile.

Liu Xiaolin looked at the group of male and female research staff in front of him, nodded, and greeted them: "Hello everyone, you've worked hard." After speaking, he suddenly felt like his tone was like that of a leader? He immediately covered his mouth awkwardly with his hand.

A dozen or so research staff were amused by Liu Xiaolin: "It's alright, we haven't worked hard. We haven't seen people from Earth for a long time either, so we came to see you. Since someone is taking you on a tour, we'll go back to our own work."

"Okay, okay, we'll look around ourselves and won't waste your time," Liu Xiaolin said, nodding repeatedly.

"Then follow me, I'll first take you to see the agricultural cultivation base that Dragon Country people are interested in. Four research staff work here, and they are respectively responsible for the two major categories: grains and vegetables," the monitor said with a smile.

"Ah? There's actually a base?" Liu Xiaolin asked in surprise.

"Yes, we specially built a greenhouse. We've planted a small patch of wheat, a small patch of rice, and various common vegetables from Earth, like cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, green beans, etc. Because there's no sunlight, we alternate between twelve hours of light and twelve hours of darkness. The soil here was all transported from Earth," the monitor said, pointing to the crops in the greenhouse.

"Is this the first batch of crops? Or have you had harvests before?" Wang Taomin asked curiously.

"This is the first batch of crops we're cultivating. Both the wheat and rice have just bloomed. Because there's no wind, we use a rope held at both ends to sweep over them a few times to help with pollination."

"Oh, oh. I used to do that in the countryside when I was a child. I didn't expect it to be the same on the Space Station, haha," Wang Taomin chuckled.

"I see that tomato has already borne fruit; it looks pretty similar to fruit on Earth," Liu Xiaolin said.

"It's just started bearing fruit, so we don't know how big it will grow, but looking at the plant, it's quite a bit larger than plants on Earth."

"Interesting, I hope it grows really, really big. Haha," Liu Xiaolin was grinning from ear to ear.

"Now let's go see the aquaculture research next door. There are also four research staff working at the aquaculture base."

The monitor led them to the next room as he spoke.

There was a pond of fish here, as well as chickens, ducks, geese, and pigs.

"Wow, there's even meat! If they all grow up, can we have a big feast?" Liu Xiaolin asked with wide eyes.

"These were just transported from Earth last month. At that time, they were fish fry, chicks, ducklings, goslings, and piglets. After a month of feeding, they've grown a lot."

"They can grow this big in just one month? Also, why aren't the animals here floating in the air?" Liu Xiaolin was a bit curious.

"Didn't you see their legs are fixed to the floor?" Wang Taomin said with a smile.

"What about the fish? How are the fish fixed?" Liu Xiaolin couldn't help but keep asking until he got to the bottom of it.

"Hehe, General Manager Liu's questions always hit the key points. Our fish tank is specially made; there's no weightlessness inside," the monitor revealed the answer.

"Oh, I see." Liu Xiaolin thought to himself, it seems they can still achieve weightlessness elimination in small areas.

"Now let's go see the fungal cultivation base next door. Only two research staff are working on fungal cultivation here."

After walking in, they saw rows of mushroom bags laid horizontally on wooden shelves. Various fungi were growing well, especially the pure white tremella fungus that had grown into a large cluster from the mushroom bag, looking pure white, crystal clear, and translucent, like a work of art.

Liu Xiaolin walked over and touched it: "This tremella fungus has grown so well! It looks so tempting to eat. Haha."

"You can't eat the things here; they are the lifeline of the staff. They might feel awkward telling you off for touching, but when I got a bit closer back then, I was criticized for breathing too heavily. Hahahaha," the monitor found it funny recalling the scene where he was scolded.

"Ah? Did I just make a small mistake then?" Liu Xiaolin said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"It's fine, it's fine. They both pretended not to see; they won't say anything to you."

Next, they visited the water purification system, oxygen generation system, and the Space Station's reserve food.

The group watched with great interest and felt their horizons were broadened.

"Alright, the Space Station tour is finished. The other spaces are the research staff's lounges, so there's no need to visit them," the monitor said with a smile.

Liu Xiaolin knew the other person meant they had shown them around for most of the day and they could go back. Could he be so tactless as to stay longer?

"Thank you very much, we feel very honored to be able to visit the Space Station. It's getting late, and we should return to Earth now," Liu Xiaolin said politely.

"Okay, then I'll escort you to the connecting passage," the monitor said.
