239: Sold the patent for one dollar

Twenty minutes later, Professor Liang hurried to General Manager Gao's office.

Professor Liang was tall and slender, wearing black-rimmed glasses, and looked gentle and refined.

"Professor Liang, you arrived quite quickly. Let me introduce you. This is General Manager Liu Xiaolin Liu, and this is his girlfriend Hong Tongtong," Gao Yuying said to Professor Liang, who hadn't yet found his footing.

"You must be General Manager Liu? It's truly wonderful that you're letting me use the patent for free," Professor Liang said excitedly, shaking Liu Xiaolin's hand.

"No need to be so polite. My patent is meant to serve patients. I think it's a tremendous good deed that you can use it to relieve the suffering of more patients," Liu Xiaolin said, having also learned Gao Yuying's way of speaking.

Hong Tongtong chuckled upon hearing this, and her laugh caught Professor Liang's attention.

"You're Hong Tongtong, right? Your name is lovely, but your taste is even better," Professor Liang said with a chuckle.

"It's his good taste, actually," Hong Tongtong said with a smile.

"Right, right, right. To like such a beautiful and excellent young lady, General Manager Liu's taste is indeed excellent," Professor Liang, being a smart person, naturally knew what girls liked to hear.

"Professor Liang, did you bring the contract? If you did, I'll sign it directly," Liu Xiaolin thought to himself that since the issues were resolved, there was no need to stay longer. Wouldn't it be better to sign and go home to rest for a while?

"I drafted a contract before, but it was a contract for purchasing the patent, with the amount left blank, just waiting to discuss an amount with you and fill it in directly," Professor Liang said, taking out a contract. "See? The terms of this contract are all written, only the amount needs to be added. However, now that General Manager Liu has agreed to zero-cost use of the patent, certain clauses in this contract will need to be amended."

"Do you have an electronic version? If so, send it to my computer, and we can print two copies after making changes," Gao Yuying said enthusiastically.

"Yes, yes, yes, I'll send it to you right away," Professor Liang was prepared.

"No need," Liu Xiaolin said with a smile, holding it. "I've thought of a way for this contract to be used directly, which is not to make it free."

"Ah? You're not going back on your word, are you?" Professor Liang's face turned very unpleasant after being greatly surprised.

Seeing that Professor Liang was about to misunderstand him, Liu Xiaolin quickly explained, "That's not what I meant, not what I meant. My intention is to charge one yuan. That is, you only need to spend one yuan to buy the three patents. This way, we don't need to modify the contract, and you don't have to worry about free use having time limit requirements."

"So that's it! See, I misunderstood you. I was really judging a gentleman's heart with a villain's mind, wasn't I? Hehe." Professor Liang's face instantly cleared up.

"It's fine, it's fine. You just need to fill in one yuan as the amount payable for purchasing the patent, then I'll sign, the contract will take effect immediately, and you can focus on research and development," Liu Xiaolin said with a smile.

"I just mentioned this good news in the medical aid chat group to the Attending Doctors and experts. They are all very happy and hope to be able to buy this Gene Editing treatment instrument soon so they can save more patients," Hong Tongtong said happily.

"Yes, once this instrument is developed and mass-produced, it will be a blessing for patients with blood diseases. It's all thanks to General Manager Liu's patent that I was able to draw on it and then develop a medical instrument that benefits patients," Professor Liang was also very excited.

"Alright, the signing is done," Liu Xiaolin said, putting down the pen. "Keep up the good work. If you need anything else, you can find me."

"So, how should this one yuan be paid?" Professor Liang asked.

"Just directly transfer one yuan to the Medical Aid Foundation's account, and then have her write you a receipt in the name of the Medical Aid Foundation," Liu Xiaolin said with a smile.

"Okay, no problem," Professor Liang said cheerfully.

"Okay, after receiving this one yuan, I will write you a receipt. You can come to our foundation to pick it up then," Hong Tongtong said.

"Okay, okay, I'll wait for your call," Professor Liang nodded repeatedly.

"Since the matter is concluded, we'll head back now," Liu Xiaolin said.

"No, no, you can't leave. I want to treat you to lunch to show my gratitude," Professor Liang said quickly.

"No need for thanks. It's all for the sake of the patients. You did what you should do, and I did what I should do," Liu Xiaolin said with a smile.

"Don't be polite, both of you. I'll treat. I'll treat the three of you," Gao Yuying said upon seeing this.

Seeing that they really couldn't decline, Liu Xiaolin and Hong Tongtong could only agree.

"Auntie is eating at the Jiangnan Machinery Factory canteen at noon, so don't worry," Hong Tongtong whispered to Liu Xiaolin.

"Got it. Then let's follow General Manager Gao's arrangement and have a meal on her," Liu Xiaolin said with a smile.

There was a high-end restaurant near Jingjue Medical Equipment Co., Ltd. After Gao Yuying booked a private room, the group went to eat.

During the meal, Professor Liang chatted with everyone. Not knowing what to talk about, he brought up one of his classmates: "My classmate was really strong in math back then! There was a topic a teacher had researched for half a year, and he took one look at it and solved it in half an hour. You know, the teacher and students were all stunned at the time."

"A math genius?" Liu Xiaolin was very interested. He himself had been very fond of math in high school.

"He really could be considered a math genius. You know, when the teacher was solving a problem in class, covering the entire blackboard, he actually said there was a simpler solution. After going up, he solved that math problem in just five or six lines. He was like a god in our school back then," Professor Liang said.

"So, what is this classmate of yours doing now?" Liu Xiaolin asked curiously.

"Ah, weren't we just talking about the previous topic? We were chatting about how some people, despite being geniuses, can't take care of their own lives or their families', which is why I brought him up as an example. He's also that kind of genius. He's currently a professor at a university, specializing in teaching math, but for 365 days a year, buying two large steamed buns from the school canteen counts as finishing a meal for him. So, even now at forty, he still hasn't found a partner," Professor Liang finally remembered why he had started talking about his classmate.

"Doesn't anyone in his family take care of him?" Hong Tongtong asked, very surprised.

"His parents are also university professors. The family is busy with their own work and have no real demands for daily life, as long as they don't starve," Professor Liang said with a smile. "They are different from us. We still pursue material life, while they only need their spiritual world to be rich."
