42: Chapter 42 The New "Mentally Disabled" Classmate

Jiang You froze for a moment, his gaze passing over Lu Xingye's gleaming dagger and locking firmly onto the unopened thermal lunch box on the table behind him.

That familiar packaging... That faint aroma of meat wafting out...

It was definitely braised pork belly!

Jiang You swallowed his saliva, completely ignoring the knife right in front of him.

In his eyes, perhaps this was his new roommate showing off his fruit-peeling skills?

Or maybe some kind of cosplay prop?

"Um... classmate."

Jiang You pointed at the lunch box, his expression weak and sincere:

"Let's put the welcome ceremony on hold; I'm not a fan of magic tricks."

"I smelled it... that's braised pork belly, right?"

"To tell you the truth, I'm about to faint from hunger. If you don't mind, could you let me use that box of meat to line my stomach first?"

Lu Xingye was stunned.

He had imagined the other party resisting, begging for mercy, or even being scared enough to turn and run.

But he never expected that, when faced with a sharp blade, this guy's first reaction would be... to beg for food?

"You..."

Veins bulged on Lu Xingye's forehead, and he felt greatly insulted: "You want to eat meat? Fine! Let's see how many lives you have to eat it!"

"Swish!"

Lu Xingye moved.

In order to scare this ignorant newcomer, he spun his dagger in a beautiful arc and thrust it straight toward Jiang You's shoulder!

He held back his strength, using only thirty percent of his usual speed, aiming only to rip Jiang You's pajamas and teach him a lesson.

Faced with this incoming strike.

Jiang You stood where he was, not moving a muscle.

He even yawned, his eyelids drooping, looking as if he were either terrified out of his wits or simply hadn't reacted at all.

[Internal Chat Group]

[Brain (Too lazy to calculate)]:

"Detected a metal object approaching from the front."

"Speed: Extremely slow."

"Trajectory: Deviation from vital points, no killing intent."

"Conclusion: This is the roommate offering tableware. No need to dodge; dodging wastes calories."

[Skin (Tsundere)]:

"Such a slow toy knife, it can't even scratch my stratum corneum. Let him stab, I'm too lazy to move."

In reality.

The tip of Lu Xingye's knife stopped abruptly, just one centimeter from Jiang You's shoulder.

Because he realized... Jiang You really hadn't dodged!

He didn't even have the instinctive reaction of tensing his muscles!

This instantly plunged Lu Xingye into self-doubt:

"This guy... was he scared stupid?"

"Or is he just a slow-witted idiot?"

"If I don't stop now, I'll actually stab him! The school rules forbid killing classmates!"

Lu Xingye held his breath and forcibly retracted the knife, his arm trembling slightly from the inertia.

Just as he was about to curse "Are you stupid?",

Jiang You moved.

He reached out and, very naturally and smoothly, took the dagger from Lu Xingye's hand.

Lu Xingye: "???"

Because he was so shocked, combined with the stiffness from forcibly retracting his move, he subconsciously let go.

Jiang You held the alloy dagger, which could cut through iron like mud, weighed it in his hand, and commented with a look of pleasant surprise: "Brother, you're a classy guy!"

"You must have studied abroad, right? I've never used a table knife to eat braised pork belly before!"

"It's just a bit short, not very convenient."

After saying this, Jiang You bypassed the petrified Lu Xingye and walked straight to the table.

"Click."

He opened the lunch box.

Then, in full view of everyone, Jiang You used Lu Xingye's exquisite alloy dagger to spear a piece of braised pork belly and pop it into his mouth.

"Chomp, chomp."

Jiang You chewed it with great relish.

"Hmm... it's a little cold, but it's fatty without being greasy."

"This cook has some skills; they're a master!"

He speared another piece and held it out to the still-dazed Lu Xingye, his expression guileless: "Hey, want a piece? Don't be polite, this knife is actually quite good for cutting meat."

The whole room fell into dead silence.

The wind swept over dead leaves, and a crow flew by awkwardly.

The barbell in Xiang Batian's hand fell with a "clang" onto his foot, but he didn't seem to feel the pain; he just stared at Jiang You with his mouth wide open.

Bai Zimo's glasses slid down to the tip of his nose.

Lu Xingye looked at his dagger—which he used to kill enemies and treasured like a precious jewel—now stuck into a greasy piece of braised pork belly and being shoved into the mouth of the guy in pajamas.

His worldview cracked.

"He... he used my knife... as a fork?"

"And he snatched my knife the moment I attacked him?"

"No! I stopped it myself! But why did I let go?"

Jiang You finished the meat in a few quick bites, even using the dagger to scrape the sauce from the bottom of the lunch box.

"Burp—"

He let out a satisfied burp and casually wiped the grease-covered dagger on Lu Xingye's expensive leather jacket, thinking it was a rag.

"Thanks, brother."

Jiang You shoved the dagger back into Lu Xingye's hand, patted his shoulder, and gave him an "I believe in you" look:

"Although you're a bit weird, brandishing weapons the moment we meet."

"But considering you treated me to meat, I won't hold it against you."

"From now on, we're roommates who share meals."

After speaking, Jiang You picked up the Thunder Bamboo and the snakeskin bag from the floor, and, as if nothing had happened, strode swaggeringly toward the stairwell behind him:

"Um... the boys' dormitory is on the second floor, right? I'm going up to take a nap."

"Oh right, remember to wash the tableware cleaner next time; it tastes like rust."

Not until Jiang You's figure disappeared and the "pat-pat" sound of his slippers echoed on the stairs,

did the three people in the hall finally seem to thaw out and resume breathing.

Lu Xingye looked at the greasy dagger in his hand and the large stain of braised pork sauce on his leather jacket, his whole body trembling.

"He... he humiliated me..."

"He actually used my knife to eat meat! And wiped the grease on me!"

Xiang Batian walked over and patted Lu Xingye's shoulder with a grave expression:

"Old Lu, this kid... is not simple."

"Look at how he didn't even blink when facing your knife earlier."

"What does that tell you?"

"It means he's either a peerless master who looks down on your knife, or... he's a complete idiot who didn't even realize your hostility."

Bai Zimo was typing away on his keyboard in the background, then finally pushed up his glasses and gave his conclusion:

"According to micro-expression analysis, his heart rate remained below 60 the entire time."

"Conclusion: He is most likely an idiot."

"Or... a natural airhead with extremely slow reaction nerves."

The three of them exchanged glances; their original vigilance and hostility dissipated quite a bit, replaced by a sense of speechlessness and... the look of caring for the mentally challenged.

"Forget it."

Lu Xingye threw the dagger into the sink with disgust:

"Just an idiot; it's beneath me to argue with such a person."

"I thought a rival had arrived, but it turns out to be a freeloader just here to eat and wait for death."

"As long as he doesn't disturb our cultivation, let him be."

F-Class First Law: As long as you are useless enough, you won't be targeted.

Relying on a sense of dullness that made one wonder "how he managed to survive this long," Jiang You successfully integrated into this class full of villains.

But what he didn't know was...

His actions had attracted the attention of someone upstairs.

The third floor—that was the forbidden zone for girls, known as "No Entry for Strangers."

Beside the gloomy carved railing, a beautiful figure was leaning lazily.

It was an extremely beautiful woman, or rather, a young girl exuding an eerie, sickly beauty.

She was wearing a deep purple modified cheongsam, tailored to fit, outlining a breathtaking waistline, and at the slit of the skirt, a section of calf as white as if transparent was vaguely visible.

Her Skin presented a sickly pallor from years of not seeing the sun, forming a strong visual contrast with her black hair cascading down like a waterfall.

What was most eye-catching were her bare feet.

Tied around her ankle was a red string, from which hung a small bell polished from some unknown bone; it did not make a sound in the gloomy wind.

A small, snow-white snake, only as thick as a chopstick, was slowly slithering along her slender wrist, finally rubbing affectionately against her cheek.

The girl lowered her eyes slightly, and in those eyes that seemed to contain a deep pool, a faint purple glint flickered.

She looked down from above at the back of the person carrying the snakeskin bag, walking unguarded up to the second floor, and on her previously calm face, a smile that made one's spine chill appeared.

She extended her pale fingers, gently teasing the white snake on her wrist, her voice as soft as the rain in the Jiangnan water towns, yet it carried a chill that made one's scalp tingle:

"Little White, did you see that?"

"Not dodging or flashing when faced with a blade... dull reactions... only reacting to food..."

"This kind of fool... is simply the perfect medicine jar that Heaven has sent me."

The girl coughed lightly twice, a sickly flush appearing on her cheeks, but her eyes grew brighter and brighter, carrying a certain paranoid fanaticism:

"It just so happens that I'm missing a lab rat to test the drink for my newly developed little toy."

"Those boys on the second floor run away when they see me; they're so impolite."

"I hope this new junior... can last a little longer, don't be like the last one, who started foaming at the mouth after just one sip."

"Hehehe... so cute."

In the darkness, the purple skirt swayed slightly, accompanied by the barely audible sound of a snake flicking its tongue.
