129: by chance

The chirping of unknown insects outside the window was isolated.

And after the curtains were drawn, the entire room fell into a dreamlike silence.

Tu Nan lit an aromatherapy candle, and a soft yellow light glowed, carrying a mysterious fragrance that diffused throughout the room.

Tu Nan stared at the rising wisp of smoke, as if using its ethereal trajectory to predict her future destiny.

But she only zoned out for a short while.

She didn't like simple fortune-telling.

God helps those who help themselves, Buddha saves those who save themselves.

If she did everything she could and still couldn't get what she wanted, then she would call that fate.

The large bed in the center of the room was covered with sapphire blue satin sheets, which were changed daily, but the color and material were no different from yesterday's.

It must have been top-grade material, with no visible warp or weft, thick yet soft, smooth and slightly cool.

The pillows and duvet were also fluffy and soft.

In a top commercial family, all kinds of daily necessities inadvertently displayed the power of money.

She studied every item in the room with an almost scientific comparative attitude, and time flowed by in her meticulous observations.

Eight o'clock, right?

The heavy bathrobe slid to the floor, followed by a light morning gown with intricate patterns.

They pointed a beacon towards that sole battlefield in the room.

Tu Nan was now naked.

She twisted open the slender medicine bottle she had been playing with and obediently took only a shallow sip.

She screwed the cap back on and tossed it by the pillow.

She turned off all the lights in the room, lay on the dark blue bed, half-sunk into the mattress, facing the bedroom door.

The flickering, faint flame cast playful shadows on her black hair and fair skin, like the reluctant hand of a demon.

It was an endless whisper, an indescribable temptation.

Tonight, she was ambushing a bird.

She was 'danger' itself.

The medicine in her body was already taking effect, and she didn't believe the Peacock would hold her all night, forcing her to endure.

Tu Nan's thoughts drifted slightly, but she pulled out a vague smile, buried in the soft pillow.

Kong Jiamu, he wouldn't bear to.

He couldn't possibly refuse her invitation when she had prepared like this.

***

Hain didn't let anyone follow him, standing silently in the woods.

Ahead was Kong Jiamu's home on Xiuyin Star. Compared to the mansion in the Capital City, this house, which Kong Jiamu probably didn't frequent, might hold more significance for him.

Hain knew him far better than Kong Jiamu thought; that bird, constantly fluttering and unable to settle, wasn't truly so passionate.

He was using an indifferent attitude to hide himself, filling his empty heart with meaningless emotions.

Hain once thought that one day, Kong Jiamu would understand that only true feelings, and truly suitable people, were worth his staying. No matter how many transient guests came and went, they would only bring greater emptiness.

In the previous two calls, Hain vaguely sensed that change in him.

The living room light was on, and several soldiers could be seen guarding it from a distance.

Upstairs, only one room was lit.

The curtains were thick, and no one could be seen, but he had a guess. This only made his heart sink deeper.

Because that was Kong Jiamu's bedroom, the master bedroom of this suite.

The light peeking through the curtain gap extinguished, leaving only a very, very dim glow revealed as the curtains swayed in the wind.

Hain was like a moth drawn to a flame, moving forward without hesitation.

His footsteps were light; there was a thick layer of fallen leaves in the woods, but he made no sound as he stepped on them.

Undetected by anyone, he stood beneath the window, lightly leaped, grabbed the windowsill, and with a slight exertion of his waist, he smoothly pulled himself up.

The carefully maintained hinges made no sound, and the window was pushed open.

Hain climbed in through the window, and a sweet, cloying scent rushed into his nostrils.

At first glance, his mind was captivated by the extreme scene woven in black and white on the bed.

The hand that had pulled back the curtain was suddenly withdrawn to his side, the heavy fabric hitting the wall, and an incongruous note suddenly emerged in the quiet environment.

Tu Nan, whose mind was gradually becoming Chaos, vaguely sensed something, uncurling from her half-crouched position and restlessly turning over on the duvet.

"Jiamu~"

Tu Nan's tone was sticky, sweet, full of seduction and impatience.

This was Kong Jiamu's 'nest,' a safe place; she hadn't anticipated any accidents.

At this moment, she merely opened her already lustrous eyes like a siren.

Calling out to the one she intended to capture.

The moment she turned her head, Hain extinguished the room's only light source—the candle—with a thin stream of water.

He turned and pulled the curtains even tighter, panting, struggling to stand still.

He was going crazy.

"Jiamu..." Tu Nan couldn't see in the dark; she frowned.

"You're back..." She stretched out on the sheets, her tone pitiful, but her words were anything but.

"Why don't you come over? Are you afraid of danger?" She reached out towards the source of the voice, "Come here, hold me, my wounds have long healed, do you want to check them?"

She demanded petulantly.

Hain's heart skipped a beat.

Wounds? What wounds? Kong Jiamu said Tu Nan was in danger, and even thought that in his absence, only Hain was of a high enough rank to provide protection.

How serious was it? Tu Nan... was she badly injured?

He rushed forward, scanning Tu Nan's body.

As far as he could see... there was nothing amiss.

"Wounds..."

His voice was hoarse, each word seemingly forced from his throat.

So Tu Nan didn't detect anything wrong. She only knew that at a time like this, this Male Beast was still standing by the bed, unwilling to come up.

She slithered towards the direction of the voice, like a snake, found his hand, and placed it on herself.

"It's all healed, really... you can check." Tu Nan's body was burning hot; the medicine had taken effect, and she was very uncomfortable.

His cold hand against her skin made her let out a comfortable sigh.

In the darkness, the desire and confusion in her eyes were perfectly clear to Hain.

His hand rested on her soft, elastic skin, while its owner eagerly tried to tear off his clothes.

He wanted to refuse, but his heart was powerless.

With almost no room for resistance, he was controlled by the fragile Female Beast, only barely managing to hold his clothes together with one hand.

I'm not... Hain wanted to retort, but his heart was bitter.

But Tu Nan didn't give him a chance to speak; her heart was burning, and her actions were astonishingly swift.

Finding the medicine bottle by the pillow, she ripped off the cap, put all the contents into her mouth, pushed herself up, and forcefully pulled the still-hesitant person down, feeding all the liquid into their mouth.

Hain let her do as she pleased, like a puppet, obedient and pitiful.

"It's the same as last time, I've already taken the medicine. Look at me, how long are you going to torment me? Please..."

What... medicine?

Did Kong Jiamu force Tu Nan to take medicine to satisfy him? Hain was furious.

Could it be... was Tu Nan not willing?

But he couldn't think any further; Tu Nan had completely torn off his clothes, wrapped her entire body around his waist, and rubbed herself against him inside his clothes.

Murmuring.

"Hold me, I've been waiting for you... for a long time."
