198: A marriage proposal during an award ceremony? Does that count?

The solemnity, scale, and grandeur of the Decoration Ceremony should inspire or stir the blood of many citizens watching the live broadcast.

Tu Nan was different; she was very busy throughout the entire process.

Busy trying to maintain her composure under various gazes, and also busy avoiding The Emperor's large hand that reached out from time to time to stroke her ears.

Fortunately, once the set procedures began and Your Majesty was invited onto the stage, no one paid attention to her anymore... presumably.

Kong Jiamu became a Major General—the youngest general-rank officer.

On stage, his tail should have been held the highest, but he always felt that something wasn't quite right.

When others knelt before The Emperor and his sword was placed on their shoulders, they were visibly excited; after The Emperor spoke words of encouragement, their responses were all about total devotion and loyalty to the country.

Only Kong Jiamu... the entire audience could see him looking up piteously.

"I am already a Major General..."

He wanted to ask Your Majesty, hadn't he said Tu Nan would be allowed to watch the ceremony? As a Peacock... if he couldn't show off at a time like this, it would be a regret that lasted until he was promoted to Lieutenant General!

The Emperor narrowed his eyes, signaling him to think carefully about what he was actually going to say.

Under The Emperor's gaze, Kong Jiamu hesitated for a moment before shouting loudly:

"I am willing to be loyal to Your Majesty! I am willing to add luster to Your Majesty's crown!"

The Emperor's expression softened slightly; he didn't feel much about such easily spoken promises.

He simply disliked being defied.

These people ought to dance to his tune. Since Kong Jiamu was willing to be a bit more obedient, he could put on the air of a wise ruler and satisfy his small wish.

The old Legion Commander of the Capital City Legion, which was also the First Legion, Gu Bohan, finally breathed a sigh of relief... Kong Jiamu could be considered the successor to the next Legion Commander that The Emperor had clearly indicated to him.

The heavy responsibility of educating this unruly young man had always given him a headache.

Just now, he thought Kong Jiamu was going to act up again, relying on The Emperor's favor. Fortunately... no one expected that as soon as Kong Jiamu raised his head, he would forcefully add another sentence at the end.

"...And I also wish that in the future, the glory will be shared with her!"

The Emperor's eyes looked as if a basin of cold water had been splashed on them. His smile sank rapidly, and dark emotions surged.

Was Kong Jiamu... choosing to defy him?

He glanced in Tu Nan's direction; the panicked expression on that cat's face convinced him that this was just Kong Jiamu's own improvisation.

"Very well..." Your Majesty whispered, looking down at the person kneeling before him.

"Since you're in such a hurry to take things further, I think you should just go straight to the Gamma Galaxy. The front line of the Sixth Legion is currently under pressure."

Kong Jiamu didn't think much of it and responded loudly.

The Emperor saw that this warning seemed ineffective; the man even appeared excited at being given such a significant responsibility. He found it dull.

With a cold snort, he tapped the flat of his sword twice on the man's shoulder before withdrawing it.

Just as he was about to leave Kong Jiamu's sight, his wrist flicked, and the flat of the sword struck the man's cheek with a crisp sound.

[Is the Emperor Teacher hitting someone?] Miao Miao turned her head and whispered to Ao Ao in a private chat.

[Master is being naughty; it's only right.] Ao Ao's posture remained completely unchanged.

The old Legion Commander's heart, which had been in his throat... finally sank.

The Emperor was enraged, and on such an occasion.

Kong Jiamu's military post was supposed to be directly under him, but now it was equivalent to being banished to the frontier?

He glared at the still-excited Peacock with disappointment, deciding to let him experience the harshness of life in a moment.

Afterward, the ceremony proceeded with incredible smoothness.

Everyone was as precise as a robot, with the same movements, words, and expressions, striving not to cause The Emperor any dissatisfaction.

After the main program concluded, Your Majesty retired to the second-floor lounge to chat with several Legion Commanders.

The Two Children were called before The Emperor and introduced to the military big shots.

"When they are a bit older, they will choose one legion every year to go and practice."

The Emperor looked at the Children with interest, as if looking at little cabbages in his own garden.

He had never learned how to teach Children and was too lazy to learn. He used to think Children were just like him when he was young—they could learn whatever they needed just by looking at it a few times.

But the truth was that there were too many idiots in the world; looking at them a few more times only made him annoyed.

Until he met these two, who could not only keep up with his capricious thoughts but also immediately grasp his intentions when he was in the mood, even giving him unexpected responses.

If all Children could make him this happy, it wouldn't hurt to raise a dozen of them.

The Legion Commanders all politely agreed. Not to mention they were The Emperor's students; just considering such Talent, who wouldn't want them in their family?

And listen to that... they could choose one legion every year.

Such favor had not been seen from The Emperor for a long time since Kong Jiamu and Hain.

The Emperor really loves raising Children!

The Legion Commanders' expressions shifted slightly, and they all simultaneously decided to go back and look for Children from their own families or subordinates who might be suitable to bring to see Your Majesty.

What if... they also caught his eye?

It was rare for everyone to gather together, and of course, it wasn't just for such a Decoration Ceremony. Half a month later would be The Emperor's birthday, a day of national celebration.

Seeing Your Majesty and their colleagues ahead of time now, they could naturally say a few more words.

Who would have thought that the clamor downstairs would grow louder and louder, the sound waves so great they seemed ready to lift the roof.

The Emperor walked toward the window, and the others followed. The window was opened to reveal Kong Jiamu at the main entrance, surrounded by a crowd of reporters with their cameras and microphones pointed at him.

"Oh... there's no special meaning, it's just my original intention." The Peacock laughed boldly.

"No, no, no! Don't misunderstand." He firmly denied, "With my notorious reputation, how would I dare to propose like this?"

He brushed back his hair, bowed to a camera, and held his military cap gloomily.

"It is definitely not a proposal, merely my sincerity and repentance."

"I want to tell her that my blood and life belong to Your Majesty, but likewise, my heart belongs to her."

"One day... I hope she will allow me to speak her name."

He made sure to look at every camera, hoping Tu Nan would see his most perfect side no matter which channel she was watching... "Is that okay? I'm just waiting for your command."

The atmosphere on the scene reached a new climax, nearly exploding.

Someone gasped, someone couldn't help but scream, and even the soldiers maintaining order couldn't help but smile.

And in front of the television, how many Female Beasts clutched their hearts and nearly fainted!

Who is it!

Which lucky person!

They were both hateful and Qi, biting their handkerchiefs to pieces.

The Emperor stroked his cat and did not look like he was in a state of Life Qi; he was still smiling as he asked the old Legion Commander beside him, "Very energetic, isn't he?"

The old Legion Commander smiled bitterly.

This... was far too unserious. Where was the military discipline!

On the distant front line, at a small medical point on the Sixth Legion's battlefront, a Male Beast lying inside for treatment ignored the newly set bones in his body and leaned very close to the television.

His eyes were bloodshot, his gaze fixed intently on the Two Children like a hungry wolf staring at meat through glass.

His Adam's apple bobbed a few times as he squeezed out a sentence: "Those are... my Children."

This Male Beast was Li.

A comrade lying in another bed in the ward, who was missing a hand and a leg, rolled his eyes upon hearing Li's nonsense.

Li didn't look as badly injured as he was this time; could he have hit his head?

Looking at the two exquisite and beautiful little ones on the television, he sighed.

"Stop daydreaming. Why don't you say you're Major General Kong?"

He said to Li in a ruffian-like manner, "I heard you saved him? Now that Your Majesty has transferred him to the Sixth Legion, will you be able to climb up?"

Li stared intently at the Children following The Emperor, finally tearing his gaze away to glance at Kong Jiamu.

Sluggishly, he nodded.

"I... I will go try."

He wanted military merit—staggering military merit.

He wanted to leave this place and go to the Capital City. When he saw the Two Children... he would ask.

His Tu Nan

Where is she?
