152: Shocking and shocking

Knowing that Kong Jiamu had arrived at the port, Hain purposely stayed home, waiting for him at his house.

He wanted to come clean to his best friend.

But this wait lasted an entire long night.

By the time the sunlight burst forth, the fire in his heart was burning brighter and brighter, becoming almost uncontrollable.

Where had Kong Jiamu gone? Did he even need to think about it?

What was he doing?

And Tu Nan—what was she doing?

She was already awake, being pestered by the clingy peacock.

"Good Pearl, come home with me." Kong Jiamu wanted to bring this beautiful Female Beast back into his territory again.

He had figured it out.

Wasn't Pearl's familiar attitude exactly the same style he used to have when dealing with those beautiful Female Beasts?

Meeting if destined, parting if not.

No forcing, no grievances, seemingly passionate on the surface but not actually putting much heart into it... It was truly karma.

He used to think this kind of relationship was the best, but who knew he would be the first one to be dissatisfied?

Returning to the Capital Star alone? No way.

What if someone took advantage of the vacancy? Or what if he received a wedding invitation for Pearl's remarriage while he was on the Capital Star?

He needed a legitimate status to tie himself and Pearl together.

"I'm not going. You already have a bunch of soldiers there, plus the subordinates who just came back with you. So many people coming and going would affect my work." Tu Nan didn't want to go; Sergeant Song Jie was still on Xiuyin Star.

Sure enough, things were looking bad! Pearl wasn't clingy at all; she only coveted his wonderful body.

"I'll tell them to leave, it's that simple." He immediately cleared the obstacles.

"And then there's Lord Hain..." Tu Nan hesitated slightly.

She had previously hoped that Kong Jiamu's return would make Hain give up on those unspoken words.

"Right! I knew I forgot something." Kong Jiamu clapped his hands.

"Isn't this a coincidence? I haven't thanked him yet. Come on, you're coming with me."

Oh, he had almost forgotten this friend.

But Hain probably wouldn't mind such things.

He also needed to ask Hain for details regarding the aftermath of the last incident; plus, he planned to seek advice from this upright man.

What he meant was...

If he intended to be serious... well, to make Pearl the legitimate heir to his estate, or to have her sit in the core of the family and friends' section at his decoration ceremony.

Which step should he take first so as not to seem too presumptuous?

Propose directly? Did Pearl still believe in marriage? Or should he just do a property notarization? Pearl had been so short of money lately.

Hain had the best reputation; if he asked Hain to be the notary, it would be enough to make Pearl believe in his sincerity!

Although this kind of serious relationship was not his familiar Domain, he always found a way.

The peacock was smug.

***

Hain first encountered an unexpected person.

"Hain! Hahaha, I guessed you'd be here at Kong Jiamu's."

A robust, tall Female Beast stood at the door, laughing heartily.

Two equally tall Females followed behind her, greeting Hain formally, "Young Master Montoya, good morning."

Hain stammered, which was rare for him. "Miss... Miss Gu. Why are you here?"

"What 'Miss Gu'? I've told you so many times to call me Lvhai." This Female Beast, Gu Lvhai, looked at Hain dotingly and nodded repeatedly. "Not bad, you haven't let yourself get thin."

She took Hain's arm and led her maids into the living room before answering him.

"Look at you, you didn't explain things clearly when you left this time, and you were vague when I asked. I was afraid Your Majesty sent you on some dangerous mission."

She looked quite worried.

"Your sister said Your Majesty hadn't given you any tasks. I happened to be at the Capital, so I thought I'd try to find you."

"And here you are, indeed!"

A maid behind her chimed in, "Young Miss truly cares about you. She was so worried when there was no news of you that she even got blisters on her mouth."

"Oh, Black Spade!" Gu Lvhai felt a bit embarrassed.

But the other maid continued to expose her. "Young Miss was kicked out of the house by the Matriarch, who said if she wanted to marry into another family, she should stop considering herself a daughter of the Gu family."

"Hehehe, once I marry in, my surname will be Montoya."

Gu Lvhai looked quite expectant.

She was truly a... unique and unconventional Female Beast from the Sea Soul Star.

Hain stood in the middle of the living room, hardened his heart, and planned to make things clear to Gu Lvhai first.

"Lvhai." Hain steadied his mind and spoke with difficulty, "I told my mother that I don't want to marry you—no, I don't want you to marry into my family either."

Gu Lvhai felt as if she hadn't understood the meaning of Hain's words; she was confused.

"Why, Hain? I know you have your own ambitions, and I'm willing to support you in pursuing your career. Do you remember? When you were little and wanted to go to the Capital to study, your whole family disagreed. It was I who stepped up to support you."

Hain nodded, "Yes, you have looked after me since I was a child. I owe much of what I have now to you."

"Exactly. I know you're worried about having to handle housework and educate the Children after marriage. But I promise I won't lock you up. As long as the household matters are taken care of, it's fine if you want to develop your career."

"Exactly! Young Miss is so good to you!" Red Spade, the other maid, finally couldn't help but glare. "A perfectly good Male Beast's heart turns wild once he goes out. Young Miss shouldn't have been so kind as to let you out at all."

"No respect for the Way of a Husband!" Black Spade also felt it wasn't worth it for her mistress.

Hain closed his eyes tightly.

This was one reason why he would never marry back to Sea Soul Star. He was a rebel there; he had once considered inheriting the mantle of a Priest so he could legitimately avoid marriage.

But then he met Tu Nan.

The luggage wasn't finished being moved, and the door was still open. Those who knew Hain's identity tactfully hid in their rooms when this dispute began, not wanting to make things more awkward for him.

This made things convenient for Tu Nan.

While Kong Jiamu went to park the car, she stood alone at the door, hearing three women... insulting Hain?

"How funny. Which grave did you antiques jump out of?" She leaned against the door and mocked them directly.

"Are you jealous that Hain's achievements are higher than yours?"

"What, if you have an issue, why don't you go say it in front of Your Majesty? Scold him for why he let Hain become an official. Scold him for how he dared to let Hain show his face in public?"

"You won't go? Are you just bullies who pick on the weak? Or are you trying to use past favors to force a debt?" Such a good man like Hain, how did he get himself into such a pathetic state?

She pointed at Hain, frustrated by his lack of resolve.

"You! Etiquette is a yardstick to measure your own behavior, not a ladder for others to step on your head. Scold them back! This isn't Sea Soul Star, why are you yielding to them?"

Hain stood tall, his whole being seemingly lit up. He suppressed his feelings repeatedly, and two small dimples appeared on his cheeks again.

"Who are you!" Black Spade was furious. These Females outside were both weak and seductive—look at Young Master Montoya's expression!

"Our Young Miss is Young Master Montoya's fiancée! Don't you dare have any delusions!" She had to help her mistress; her mistress was just too easy to talk to.

"Our Young Miss is a second-class Great Noble of the Empire! I'm going to sue you for the crime of disrespecting a noble!"

Gu Lvhai stepped forward with a headache to soothe the enraged Black Spade.

"Oh? Which noble is in my house, shouting at my fiancée?"

Kong Jiamu pulled Tu Nan into his arms and spoke with a cold sneer.

It was as if a pause button had suddenly been pressed.

Everyone.

Was shocked.
