70: Solve Fiona

"She's Fiona. Both Li and I know her..."

Tu Nan covered her mouth, glancing at Fiona before turning away, unable to bear the sight.

"My god, how did she end up like this? Back when she was pursuing Li, she was quite a beautiful Female Beast."

Everyone's expressions turned subtle... it seemed like some petty romantic squabble between Females.

"Tu Nan! You killed Gray! You crazy Foster Mother!"

Fiona kept shouting those two sentences repeatedly, her emotions clearly unstable.

Tu Nan let out a deep sigh and asked the clothing store clerk, "Could you give me a bottle of water?"

Although water wasn't cheap, the clerk didn't hesitate to make this small investment in a VIP customer and immediately handed it to her.

Tu Nan took out a snow-white handkerchief, dampened it with water, and walked up to Fiona, trying to wipe her face clean with a look of deep sorrow.

"Pah! Get lost, you bitch!" Fiona showed no gratitude whatsoever.

Tu Nan stood frozen, clutching her handkerchief... After watching Fiona for a long while, she said uncomfortably to the high-ranking officer, "Sir... could we speak privately? I am Tu Nan, the wife of Li from the Sharp Blade Squad."

The officer paused, clearly surprised.

The clerk who called the police only said there were two military family members, but didn't mention the partner of the recently famous Li.

His attitude immediately became more cautious and enthusiastic as he nodded, "Of course."

The three of them avoided the onlookers and walked back into the clothing store.

"I met her during my journey through the desert. Her brother wanted to marry her off to Li, but of course, we couldn't accept that."

As Tu Nan spoke, she glanced through the window at the crazed Female Beast outside, her expression slightly complicated.

Lisa was somewhat surprised. "You actually know this crazy woman?"

Tu Nan nodded. "Later, her brother promised her to another Male Beast, and I haven't seen her since."

She paused, her gaze filled with pity. "I wanted to ask, is there... a place here that manages or treats patients with mental issues like hers?"

Tu Nan immediately categorized Fiona's condition.

The officer asked in return, "A Mental Health Treatment Center? But those places aren't cheap."

Lisa frowned slightly, her tone soft but carrying concern. "You aren't even that close. Why waste your money like this?"

"Sigh... I just can't bear it. Besides," she bit her lower lip, looking as if it were hard to say, "I don't think it would be good for Li to see her like this. It's not like I can't afford the money, so why don't we..."

Tu Nan wrote down her terminal account number and handed it to the officer. "Look..."

The officer immediately understood the Young Miss's concern. She was afraid her Male Beast might develop some kind of savior complex for a fallen woman.

He smiled and took the slip of paper with the number.

It was true; Lord Li was a rising star. Since someone was willing to pay, he might as well do them a favor and resolve a public security issue at the same time.

Adjusting the brim of his hat, he nodded to the two military relatives and went outside to call his subordinates.

"Take her away."

"Where to? I'm not going! Arrest her... Ah! Ah!! Mmph..." Fiona's remaining words were muffled by the officer.

The police car drove toward the Mental Health Treatment Center, commonly known as the Asylum.

The officers remarked to each other about Miss Tu Nan's kindness; at least there, the crazy woman would have food and shelter.

The onlookers dispersed, and Lisa sighed with emotion.

"Life for these Female Beasts outside is really tough... What on earth happened to her? Didn't you say she got married later?"

"Something must have happened... Didn't you say the outside was ravaged by Star Worms?"

"Fortunately, Mata City's defenses are top-notch. Unless Sand Star falls, things won't get chaotic here."

"Shut up." Tu Nan clicked her tongue at her. "If a real war breaks out, your Charlie will have to go to the front lines too."

"Hehe, you're just worried about Li. Don't think I can't tell." Lisa teased.

Yes, Tu Nan knew she was a bit conflicted.

She wanted Li to distinguish himself in the military, yet she didn't want him to actually go to the front lines... Every military relative probably felt just as torn as she did.

Forget it. On a Border Star like Sand Star, if war truly breaks out, no one can escape. With Li's combat power, it would be a waste if he didn't climb the ranks.

Tu Nan paused, realizing her way of thinking had shifted.

She vaguely remembered how, back in the River Valley, she would get upset because Li left her to fight Sand Worms.

But now, she considered many more things.

Tu Nan unconsciously touched the back of her neck, where synthetic skin was permanently applied for concealment.

Perhaps because she was no longer a Foster Mother to be bought and sold at will, and because she now lived in a military residential area, she felt secure enough. The stability around her allowed her to look outward, no longer limited to the immediate meter around her.

She had babies.

Her babies were destined not to stay by her side forever. They needed a broader horizon, a larger and more stable world. So, following them, she gradually extended her gaze... The corners of her mouth turned up slightly as she accepted her change.

After returning home, Tu Nan looked down to welcome the pouncing attack of her two babies.

Li enjoyed many privileges. While other enlisted soldiers stayed in the barracks, he was permitted to return home daily and had one day off per week.

After all... the garrison commander felt that the importance of properly raising a pair of Dragon-Phoenix twins was no less than training a top-tier soldier. Plus, there wasn't much point in having Li train with the other soldiers anyway.

Tu Nan had thought a lot on the way back, and Lisa had suggested simply not telling Li about what happened that afternoon.

However, she still decided to keep Li informed. After all, if the two of them were to keep this "family" going, they both had to find ways to contribute to its stability.

But before she could speak, Ao Ao had already noticed something was wrong. He whimpered and pointed at Tu Nan's face, questioning her.

"Mama's face is broken, blood!"

Miao Miao immediately rushed over. After one look, she couldn't control herself and transformed into a Little Tiger. Her fur stood on end as she made a fuss in Tu Nan's mind.

"It's a claw scratch! Who! Who hurt Mama!"

"Shh! Shh~" Tu Nan kissed each of the Children's cheeks, whether they were smooth or furry.

"It's fine, just a small injury. It'll heal quickly with some medicine." She comforted the babies.

With just one hand, Li scooped up Tu Nan along with the two babies.

One glance was all it took for his anger to surge.

"Who?" He looked ready to storm out and make whoever hurt Tu Nan pay the price immediately.

Tu Nan buried herself and the Children in Li's embrace, whispering to him, "It was Fiona. She appeared for some reason."

She felt Li's momentary daze and told him how she had handled the situation.

"She seems to have gone mad. I spoke with the officers and had her sent to the Asylum."

"She wanted my life before, and now that I've killed Gray, she won't let me off."

"Send a communication to the Asylum and tell them to keep a close watch on her. It's best if she's never able to speak again."

Li frowned. A Female Beast... since she was already locked up, what impact could she possibly have?

Confused, he said to Tu Nan, "Locking her up should be enough, right?"

"If Gray were still alive, I would have torn him into ten thousand pieces. But a Female Beast... forget it."

Li didn't believe a Female Beast could cause any real trouble.

Really?

Tu Nan didn't believe it. She knew exactly how powerful a Female's obsession could be.

Herself, her mother from her previous life, and Fiona would be no exception... while these naive males always thought they were just harmless dolls.

Lowering her eyes, she realized some things she would have to handle herself.
