63: Tell them to move out immediately.

Little Bear stayed at Tu Nan's place for one night and left the next day, full of worry. Life seemed to return to its usual calm.

This morning, when Tu Nan walked out of her room, she rarely found Li standing at the door of Sheng Ranran and her mother's room.

He was having a serious conversation with someone.

Strange, why would Li take the initiative to interact with them? Tu Nan stopped in her tracks.

“So it's still very dangerous?”

“Of course,” Chen Fang sighed with exaggeration. “That's why we nobles rarely give birth ourselves and mostly purchase Foster Mothers.”

“Someone like me, willing to give birth to a child myself, is too rare. That's why her father values me so much. He hired many doctors to help regulate my body back then.”

“What methods are there...” Li was anxious and worried.

Chen Fang acted coy. “Oh, those are family secret recipes...”

“Could I ask you to...” Li's attitude was rarely this sincere, but Tu Nan didn't want to hear any more. She called out to him loudly.

“Li, come give me a hand.”

Li didn't even bother saying goodbye to Chen Fang; he immediately rushed back into the room in a few strides, only to see Tu Nan sitting in a chair, perfectly fine.

Seeing his confusion, Tu Nan teased, “What are you doing standing at a girl's door first thing in the morning?”

Realizing she was jealous, Li felt relieved and explained, “I went to ask about precautions. You're about to give birth soon, and I don't know exactly when, so I wanted to find someone to ask.”

He looked at Tu Nan's belly, very worried.

“She said that... it's very dangerous for a Foster Mother to give birth.”

Tu Nan poured a glass of water and pushed it toward Li. Her heart felt a bit soft.

Li's mind was filled with her. From the surface, his worries were indeed justified; he had no idea a System existed.

But... Chen Fang and her daughter couldn't possibly be that kind-hearted.

“I plan to go ask Owen's mother. She gave birth to Owen just fine, so don't worry.”

“But she has a strong constitution. I see Chen Fang and the others are noble Young Misses, similar to you. Also, Chen Fang mentioned noble secret recipes. I'll see what she wants in exchange—maybe a Black-Scaled Snake would work.”

Tu Nan poured herself a glass of water too, holding it in her hands and rubbing it.

It was hard for Li to understand the subtle rivalries between women.

What Chen Fang and her daughter wanted in exchange was likely Li himself. Li's Rank had already been recognized by everyone around as A-Rank, a level that was almost unheard of on Sand Star.

Owen's mother had even passed messages from her husband to Tu Nan several times, asking her to persuade Li to join the army. They said that as long as Li joined, he could not only enter the Sharp Blade Squad but might even have a chance to be selected by the Patrol Army and taken away.

After all, it was rare for the Patrol Army, which served as the Capital City's forces, to be stationed in a Border Star city like Mata City.

Tu Nan just gave a polite smile.

She wasn't crazy; she would never shove Li and Kong Jiamu together. She hadn't forgotten her future plans, and the image of Hain fighting Li still lingered in her mind.

“Sheng Ranran has her eyes on you.” Tu Nan decided to be blunt instead of letting him guess.

“That mother and daughter have been wanting to pack you up and take you away for a long time. And you're still approaching them. What, are you planning to wait until I give birth...” Tu Nan put down her glass, hugged Li's waist, and asked pitifully, “...and then abandon me?”

“Nonsense,” Li said, shocked.

“I... I'm just a Chaotic Beast, and they are nobles.”

Tu Nan's heartstrings twitched slightly.

This answer was actually very subtle.

She lowered her eyes, not wanting to dwell on this issue, only wanting to solve the problem at hand.

“I don't care. Never mind waiting for their help; just having them swaying around in front of me every day irritates me so much my stomach hurts.”

She directly made her demand: “I want to rest quietly for the pregnancy. Make them leave, otherwise I can't sleep well.”

Li didn't understand why she wanted to kick the two out at this time.

He had previously ignored the extra two people entirely; it was only in the last two days that he realized they might be helpful to Tu Nan. But now his Female Beast had suddenly become unreasonable.

He thought of what Chen Fang had told him: Female Beasts become very unreasonable before and after giving birth.

Sure enough, Chen Fang was a very experienced person.

For Tu Nan's own good, he had to find a way... Perhaps he could find a house nearby and ask Chen Fang and her daughter to move there first.

That would solve everything perfectly. Li relaxed, patted Tu Nan, and nodded in agreement to her request.

Tu Nan didn't expect Li's mind to go in that direction, but she just felt another problem was solved.

Of course, no matter how much she estimated the System wouldn't let anything go wrong during childbirth, she still wanted to learn more. After Li went out that day, she knocked on Little Owen's door.

Owen's mother was a sturdy Rhino Tribe orc, very brawny and enthusiastic.

“Oh, how to give birth? Don't worry!” She laughed heartily, patting Tu Nan's hand. In a few strokes, she had patted Tu Nan's delicate hand red.

She looked with some surprise and felt a bit awkward.

“You really are a bit delicate, no wonder you're worried...” She brought out some meatballs made of meat paste. Last time, she noticed that all the food Tu Nan ate had to be processed very finely. These were snacks prepared for Owen that she brought out for her guest.

“We Female Beasts, though it's hard to get pregnant, once we are, I've never heard of one who couldn't give birth.” She waved her hand. “We aren't like those Foster Mothers. Bah! I heard they just die while giving birth.”

She suddenly remembered Tu Nan's status.

“Oh, right. You noble families all let Foster Mothers give birth, and the Mistress never does it herself. No wonder you don't know.”

“Indeed... I want to give birth to Li's child myself... but my family doesn't approve of us.” Tu Nan gave her a meaningful look.

“I understand, I understand. Nobles, always fussing about matching status... That's why I told you last time to let Li join the army. Look at his Rank. A! Do you know how few there are in the whole of Sand Star?”

“Your family is too old-fashioned. Many nobles nowadays, upon hearing of such a Rank, wouldn't care about his original background anymore.”

Tu Nan smiled. Exactly, wasn't that how Sheng Ranran and her mother took a liking to Li?

“Let me tell you... the other day my man said, the Sheng Family.” She nodded towards Tu Nan's house.

“I've never heard of that surname among the nobility. However, the new boss of the underground forces these past few years is said to be surnamed Sheng... Do you think it could be?”

Tu Nan raised an eyebrow.

“I hadn't thought of that. Could I trouble him to ask around more for me? To be honest, I am a bit worried.”

“I understand! I understand!” The hearty woman forgot her strength again, slapping Tu Nan's shoulder repeatedly.

“Hmph, I can tell from their attitude that you really should be worried. Get them to move out quickly, otherwise you're about to give birth... and that... Male Beast...”

“Oh my!” She looked Tu Nan up and down. “You understand, right?”

Tu Nan stroked her belly and silently lowered her head.

She understood.

Ever since the Children's genes stabilized and the mental link was established, she had never agreed again when Li sought intimacy.

It was too inappropriate for Children. Although the two babies spent most of their time sleeping in her belly, she didn't dare take the risk.

The Children should... live a pure life for now.

So Li had been quite restless lately, getting up early every day to exercise in the yard and take cold showers.

Sheng Ranran and her mother had to move out.
