72: For the sake of the child, endure

Li knew he was growing increasingly satisfied with his current life.

"Thank the beast god, thankfully I didn't miss you that day."

He often said this while hugging Tu Nan. Or he would toss the Children high and catch them, the innocent smiles on the faces of the two adults and one small child were identical.

In the sky, an occasional vulture glided silently, observing everything on the ground with cold eyes.

It just hadn't found an opportunity to strike.

Sheng Ranran blocked Li alone at the street corner this time.

She was indeed a beautiful Female Beast. She hadn't tied her hair today, and her long, curly brown hair made her face appear even more endearing.

She held a gift wicker basket containing some common fruits and two sets of Children's small clothes. After much hesitation, her face flushed, and she handed the items to Li.

"It was my fault for making Sister Tu Nan unhappy last time and scaring the baby." Her large, drooping ears subtly hid the blush on her face. "I... I was afraid that sending Children's items would be disliked. Noble families really don't exchange Children's supplies with each other."

She seemed very sad, but still tried her best to please Li.

"If Sister Tu Nan wants it, then I'll make up a portion. Please take it to her for me. I... I don't dare to go."

She then pulled out a sapphire from her pocket and placed it in the basket.

"I dropped one last time, what a pity. I heard that scabbard was an antique."

Sheng Ranran blinked, hoping Li would accept these.

Li was quite conflicted.

He was rarely this smart, guessing that if he took these things back, Tu Nan might... probably throw them out.

But it was indeed a misunderstanding last time. Tu Nan was not truly a noble after all, and didn't know the details of these etiquettes.

What to do.

His captain had also sincerely told him that to truly develop, he needed to pay more attention to how he conducted himself.

Sheng Ranran noticed his hesitation. She cautiously suggested,

"That... we actually had a favor to ask of you when we sent such valuable gifts that day."

"You know I come from the Sheng Family. Our Sheng Family has a tradition... that every child, after coming of age, must compete in an Arena Match to have a say in the Family."

"Either go up yourself, or invite someone to fight... My mother and I have no one to help us and are always bullied. I wanted to say..."

She looked at Li eagerly.

"How about you represent me? All the Family rights you win can be used by you, as long as you ensure my mother's and my life in the Family. And for every round, I will definitely pay you a satisfactory price."

Her green eyes were full of pleading... Li was slightly dazed. This expression was very familiar.

It was very much like... the Tu Nan of the past.

But when did Tu Nan stop looking up at him with such eyes?

But he shook his head, refusing.

"No, I don't have the time."

The little Female Beast shoved the gift basket into his arms, said nothing else, and turned to run away.

Li pondered for a moment, then slowly walked back to the small courtyard.

"Here." Li handed the gift basket to Tu Nan. Before that, he had already put the sapphire in his pocket.

"Carl asked me to bring it back." He pulled out the Sharp Blade Squad's captain to take the blame.

Tu Nan took the basket, smelled a faint fragrance, and glanced at the gift basket still tied with a small ribbon... Who could she fool with this? She twitched the corner of her mouth. Should she expose Li? Forget it... the conflict from a few days ago had just subsided.

She pretended not to notice anything and accepted it with a smile. Anyway, she would never let the Children wear clothes of unknown origin.

"Oh, right, I asked Carl about the Early Training Camp. He said it's easy; Sharp Blade Squad members just need to say a word to send their Children in."

Li waited for Tu Nan to praise him.

"Early Training Camp?" Tu Nan had also inquired about it after that day. It was truly... how to put it, a place even more arduous than Children's Martial Arts Schools or Sports Schools in her previous world.

Equivalent to a Children's Military Academy? It accepts Children in their Childhood Stage.

"The Two Children are still in their Cub Stage, how can they leave home?" Tu Nan truly didn't understand how Li could be so heartless.

Li frowned. He looked at the two little milk-furballs playing in the super-large nest in the courtyard. He then felt that it was indeed a bit too early.

"Then let's wait until they're five months old. Their Physique is good, so going a month earlier than other Children won't be a problem."

"No."

Tu Nan wasn't going to discuss it with him. This wasn't something that could be discussed.

"I asked around; the Children who go there are all striving for a future. Our Miao Miao and Ao Ao don't need that."

"You really spoil the Children too much." Li was displeased and said to her earnestly, "It's precisely for their own good that we need to cultivate them early."

This was the Children's father; he had the right to express his views on the Children's education.

But... what kind of perspective was this? What kind of thinking?

She looked at the incredibly happy Children in the sunlight, thought of her own childhood, and also thought of Li's past that he had told her about.

She had just decided not to educate Li, her husband, but only to choose, yet she found that putting it into practice was truly difficult.

For the Children... she kept telling herself.

Tu Nan, you are no longer alone; you must be responsible for the Children.

Moreover, this wasn't Li's fault. Tu Nan suppressed her anger, put away her true self, and put on a false mask again.

"Li~" She hugged Li's waist, praising him first.

"I know you're doing this for the Children's good. You truly are a good father. This is an opportunity you never had, the camp you once wanted to join, isn't it?"

Li's expression softened. It felt good that Tu Nan could understand his feelings. He kissed Tu Nan's forehead and rubbed his chin on top of her head.

"But, Li is stronger now than ever before. You're not the same you as before."

Tu Nan looked at him adoringly.

"So, our Children deserve a better life."

Tu Nan stroked his ear, signaling him to look at Miao Miao and Ao Ao.

"Everyone can recognize that these are your Children at a glance. Even if they're sent to some training camp, who would dare to train your Children?"

"You are A-rank Li. Can't you train your own Children?"

Tu Nan hugged his waist, swaying coquettishly.

"I want the Children to be with us. When they're young, we'll teach them well ourselves. I don't have parents, and Li is practically without them too. Our Children must definitely be cherished by their mother and father."

Tu Nan painted a beautiful future.

"We've already saved quite a bit of money now," Li handed all the money to Tu Nan to manage, which was indeed impeccable. "Let's save some more, and we'll find a way to go to a planet in the hinterlands, or, one day, we must go to Capital Star."

"I want to give the Children the best of everything. Everything you didn't have when you were young, I will give to the Children."

Tu Nan buried her face in his chest.

"Alright?"

Li's throat tightened. He found that Tu Nan always understood him. He hugged Tu Nan tightly, his heart overflowing with happiness.

"You're right." He had thought wrong. He thought he could give the Children a better everything.

"There's one more thing."

Li thought with renewed vigor, he indeed needed to work harder.

"There's an opportunity right here, and I want to give it a try..."
